🟠🟠🟠 NOTICE 🔴🔴🔴
I give the timing belt OEM number for the higher serial Numbers
WRONG, The CORRECT Part Number is M150717. The deck belt
IS part number M128733 as represented. Also the enguagement
rod installs with the spring on top. Next time my belt breaks I will
make a new video. Sorry about the production errors.
🟠🟠🟠 NOTICE 🔴🔴🔴
This video covers the removal and installation of the
belts on a Freedom 42 John Deere Mulching Deck installed
on either the LT-155 & 166.
The primary belt drives the deck, while the Secondary
Belt is a timed to keep the cutting blades at a 90
degree angle from each other. The Freedom Deck is
made to mulch the grass and leave no uncut blades
in the middle. The repair of both belts requires some
taking apart, but can be done with a little patience.
Cheers! 🍻 -Al Cox
🔴🟡PART NUMBERS🔴🟡
Timing Belt Numbers:
LT155-Unit Serial #'s below 125,001 OEM#M127926

If your serial # is above these on either model, your

The Deck Drive Belt is OEM#M128733
Do all repairs on small engine and power equipment
at YOUR own risk. Disconnect Battery and Keep a
Fire Extinguisher in reach.
If you have no common sense, FORGET IT!!!

Thank you very much for such a detailed video! My Dad recently passed away and would’ve been the one to do this. Thanks to you a 31 year old lady was able to replace my belt with no issue!

Thank you for the helpful video. One mistake I noticed is that it looks like you show how to install the engagement rod upside down (spring facing down) because in the next step it has the spring facing up.
@bigalsmallengines
@bigalsmallengines Месяц назад
Yeah I have accidently installed it that way a few times before. Doesn't really make any difference on mine, but on top with the spring is the correct way indeed. 🍻 Thanks for your comment!

About how tight should the belt be when new belt is going on? Great video ... mine just had blades hit ...do you have any carb rebuilding vids on this model?
@bigalsmallengines
@bigalsmallengines 10 месяцев назад
Should be able to move it about around 1/4" is how tight I done this one. Seems to be working great. I'm sorry, I do not have a carburetor rebuild video for this unit. Thanks for watching! 🍻 -Al

I have a LT160 and thinking about getting a Freedom 42 deck. Are all Freedom 42 decks the same regardless of what model tractor they came off of? THX great video

The earlier ones have a different timing belt size is all I am aware of. Otherwise the design is true for all of them I think. It enguages with that rod and not a cable. As long as the enguagement works.

Great video, sir . I was wondering if you have a video on how to adjust the mower height?? I adijusted mine at 2.5 inches bit my deck wont lock in transport position.
@bigalsmallengines
@bigalsmallengines 3 месяца назад
I don't have a video about that yet. You must have adjusted something too much if the deck won't lock. You may have to back off that adjustment until it will lock again if that is the case. ??? Not sure what you done there. The owner's manual will take you through adjusting the deck, if you don't have one, you can find it on John Deere's website. Thanks and cheers! 🍻

I got the belt replaced but can’t figure out how to put the deck cover back over the timing belt.
@bigalsmallengines
@bigalsmallengines 26 дней назад
Should fit back in place-make sure you got it turned the right way. Don't tighten down all the screws till they are all are in. Hope that helps you. 🍻

I'm a lil confused, you have the same serial number for 2 different belts
@bigalsmallengines
@bigalsmallengines 3 месяца назад
You are right-That is the drive belt # for the deck. I must have gotten them mixed up. The OEM # for the serial #'s higher is M150717. Sorry About that. Cheers for the catch. I need to put that info in the comment section. Thanks! 🍻
