I bought this jack last fall when I bought an x354 and it works really well, easy to use, move and store. When you fold it up you can wheel it to wherever you need to move it instead of carrying it. Now I change my blades when I should and keep the deck like yours!

You’re welcome. Yeah, I just hated to see the new S130 get all caked up on the underside of the deck the way our previous mowers did. That and thinking I should be sharpening the blades regularly ultimately made me decide to get the lift. Much easier than having to remove the deck!

I have the same model mower but I bought my jack at Harbor Freight, it makes an interesting comparison. My HF lift has some definite advantages while at about 1/3 the price you paid. Mine can be folded but I usually leave it fully assembled, it has an upright component that I store about a foot in front of my car bumper, while the lift part is very flat and easily fits under the car. No boards are needed, it clears everything with no problem at all, it also has a pedal operated jack, very convenient, and a large knob to release the pump pressure. It doesn't automatically lock at different heights it has a hardened pin instead. Pros: It fits the mower, no home made adapters needed, and is quite frankly, easier to use, I paid about $100 for it. Cons, Depending on your situation, may or may not take more room to store, mine takes up no more space than yours if you store it like I do. Made in China, I like to support USA manufacturing too but I have to consider the price difference.

I love John Deere’s...had several over the years. End of last year I sold my 3 year old S240... was in perfect condition but I like new stuff...however this spring I tried to buy a new John Deere and found out they are basically not available till August! There are a few S100’s 27 HP... I was lucky to find and S120 at Home Depot and grabbed it. I called all the dealers in Ct. along with all the Lowes and Home Depot’s...I got lucky to find an S120... I wanted an S130.
@DIYBoomers
@DIYBoomers 2 года назад
Yeah, I’ve noticed a few new Deere’s at Lowes, but not at Home Depot. Didn’t stop to see which models were available at Lowes. Looks like the supply chain disruption continues into 2022! I got real lucky at the end of last summer to find one of a couple S130’s that were just getting delivered to a local dealer. Everyone else was completely out.

Perfect video for my small issue. I looked at the HF lift and was told the newer version no longer folds up like the Mojack 550. I found the Mojack 550 folds up against my wall perfectly. But I ran into the problem you did with my John Deere S100 having that center deck adjusting rod. My first go-around I notice it was semi tight against the Mojack front bar. I remember seeing your video and looked it up again. I've made two blocks of wood out of 2x4's. Tomorrow I'll try it again. Curious what size width were those two boards in your video. Otherwise the lift works great and is quite heavy duty.
@DIYBoomers
@DIYBoomers Год назад
I just used a couple of 2x10 scraps that I had laying around. The actual width of a 2x10 is 9 1/4”. So mine are 9 1/4” by 3 1/2”. The wheel brackets are just over 9 1/2” wide on the MoJack that I have. If yours is the same, a 2x4 that is 9 1/2” long would work just fine, however they don’t have to be that long since they don’t have to fit tight in the wheel brackets. I just lay them on a diagonal against the front bar of the bracket and roll the tire up against them to hold them in place. Yeah, I really like the MoJack 550.

It’s too late now, but if you would have looked further you would have found the CAT mower lift that tilts the entire mower to the side rather than lifting from the front. It leaves everything unobstructed underneath for service or repair.
@DIYBoomers
@DIYBoomers 2 года назад
The CAT lift is actually the first lift that I saw that got me looking at them to begin with. Looks like a great lift. I guess I ultimately decided on a front lift for a couple of reasons. First reason is that I’m somewhat of a penny pincher, the MoJack was $50 cheaper. Not to say that I wouldn’t spend a little more if I thought it was warranted, but the front lifts give you access from both sides which is nice for blade sharpening/changes. Also, using the pressure washer from both sides allows you to see and access the opposite inside edges of the deck for cleaning. Initially, I was about to pull the trigger on a CAT, but like I said, I’m a little bit about saving $$ anywhere I can that makes sense to me.

Have your blocks ever popped out while using? I have the same jack but it hits the underside of my Kubota GR2120. I tried the blocks (2x4) and it raised and cleared the bottom.
@DIYBoomers
@DIYBoomers 5 месяцев назад
No, I’ve never had a problem with the blocking. When you think about it, they really can’t fall out with stable and even pressure on the tire side even though the contact on the bracket is not wide. Mine have stayed right in place.

@@donflash1128 You are very wise to do this. All fasteners have wicking ability do to the necessary close fit between male and female threads. They suck in moisture which will corrode them in short order. Believe it or not anti seize is even recommended for stainless fasteners that will be disassembled and reassembled frequently not for corrosion resistance, but because of its anti galling properties.

I dont have a jack like yours but I just use a winch to lift the mower and I definitely don't have a mower as nice as yours and I thought the mower I have was a peice of junk but the deck is still solid and it runs and drives so it's a good mower and idk how the deck looks
@DIYBoomers

The winch is actually a great way to do tractor maintenance. If I did more mechanical work than just the lawn tractor, I would have looked into a winch setup.

It has a 500 lb capacity and seems very sturdy to me especially since you’re only lifting one end of the tractor. It has three position locking bars that take the bottle jack out of the possibility of leaking off.

Hi can you tell me if the front bar of the jack is blocking access to remove the PTO clutch. I need to drop it in order to replace the drive belt. Thanks.
@DIYBoomers
@DIYBoomers Год назад
Hello. No the front bar of the Jack is about 4” away from the PTO clutch towards the front of the mower on our JD S130. It shouldn’t be a problem. However, I am wondering why you say that you need to drop the PTO in order to change the drive belt. The middle tensioner pulley on the deck is tensioned with a spring. You can push the pulley forward to create slack in the drive belt and remove it from the PTO clutch. Good luck with that.
@JoBiatch
@JoBiatch Год назад
@@DIYBoomers What you’re describing is the deck belt, which spins the cutting blades. What I’m replacing is the transmission drive belt that spins the rear wheels. Thanks for your answer to the PTO. I have an E150.
@DIYBoomers
@DIYBoomers Год назад
Yeah, I thought it might be something else. I would imagine the E150 is similar enough to the S130 as to how it fits on the Jack in relation to the PTO.
@DIYBoomers
@DIYBoomers Год назад
Wow, how much fun is that! I took a look at a video that shows replacing the drive belt on an S130. I had no idea (as you noticed by my first comment). With our S130 being the fourth lawn tractor that we’ve owned, we’ve never had to deal with replacing a drive belt. Out of sight, out of mind, that belt is really buried up in the chassis. Did the belt break on you?
@JoBiatch
@JoBiatch Год назад
@@DIYBoomers I was having trouble going uphill, which I hadn’t before. So I assumed that the drive belt was either damaged or stretched, which would make the mower lose power. I had no problems going on flat land. Upon further investigation under the mower, I discovered that a bunch of grass and dirt were trapped under the foot pedal mechanism, which prevented me from pressing the forward pedal all the way down, thus the transmission wasn’t getting full power, only maybe 2/3 power. I used a brush and thin stick to clear out the stuck grass and dirt and blew everything out with a leaf blower, and the mower goes uphill fine now. Pheww saved me a bunch of work! I’ve had the mower for 5 years, and I do blow it clean after every session, but I guess the air couldn’t get into the crevices under the foot pedals.
