John was a very special person with a natural talent for expressing how the natural world made him feel. John was all about feeling and has MANY great pieces of work. John is what is missing in society today.

I like how after just one line of the song, the rocking stopped and her eyes glazed over. He's got her. That was John Denver's power. Back at the turn of the century, Annie's Song was listed as one of the top 25 greatest love songs of all time.

John Denver's music inspired me to take the greatest leap of faith in my life. I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio amongst steel mills and auto factories. The skies were typically gray and, speaking for myself, it was a life of quiet desperation. Driving home one night in my Ford Mustang, as student of the Cleveland Institute of Art, I heard John's breakthrough song, "Country Roads". I was hooked. Years later after hits like "Annie's Song" and "Rocky Mountain High", I took the leap and moved from Cleveland to the Rocky Mountains of Idaho. That was 40 years ago. In May of 1997 I met John Denver in Cerritos' California after one of his concerts and had a chance to thank him and shake his hand......5 months later he died in a plane crash in Monterey Bay, CA. at age 53. He and his music changed my life.......great music is powerful.....and you nailed it......."Annie's Song" was his Masterpiece. Believe it or not, he wrote that song for his wife in 10 minutes on a Ski Lift in Aspen, Colorado. Thank you for this reaction video.....it was joyful to hear him again. God Bless You.

John Denver and I are kinda like sole people, we were born on the same day, and same year, I always felt he was talking to me, and how I was feeling at that point and time, his voice was so touching, and heart felt, John suffered a lot in his life, with disappointments, and a public that turned on him, sad isn't it??? His songs are all about love, Nature, and life, yet, He was depressed so much he turned to drinking, and as a result, a lot turned against him...many need to stop and think about what they say or do, don't throw that brick at the glass house, becaise you might be the one living in it..just saying, thanks Faith, for your reaction, yes a beautiful, peaceful , and relaxing sound...

It pleases me in a way that’s hard to explain to see some young person, someone who had never heard of John, someone unfamiliar with his music, and see the light in their eyes brighten up when they hear him for the first time. John had such an amazing gift. He was an entertainer of such incredible talent. He had a way to make you feel a part of the story, like the whole show was for you personally. Few have that gift. Annie’s song was written as an expression of the love he felt for his beautiful wife Annie. The song was written while riding a ski lift in Aspen Colorado. He said it took about 10 minutes and it was done. For decades it was one of the 3-4 most frequently played songs at weddings, for obvious reasons. And you mentioned the joy in his face. You observe very well! This was his life, his joy, to sing to people, to share his joy and his experience and his love of nature and his wife and of people! He loved nature, and he loved all people. I got to see him twice. It was amazing. The first time was just him, completely by himself, absolutely no one else there, except for the 10,000 of us in the audience. He sang and played and laughed and told stories for 2-1/2 hours. 38 years later it’s still one of the memorable nights of my life. The wildlife concert was him at his absolute best! Look up another song from this concert, Darcy Farrow. Watch the guitar work, listen to the voice. You’ll be amazed Terrific video young lady! Welcome to the world of John Denver fans!

Love your reactions, very well thought out. John Denver was huge in the mid 1970’s to early 80’s. My Sweet Lady, Rocky Mountain High, Calypso, Leaving On a Jet Plane, so many more great songs. He founded the Hunger Project and was very involved in climate, environment, wildlife charities and many songs are about those things.

John Denver's music was played on AM radio widely throughout the 70's. It was very popular. Back then, people weren't hung up on "genres", because there was a whole mix of music on "the radio" - folk rock, pop, soul, motown, glam rock, you name it.

John was incredible! This rendition has a beautiful waltz tempo. He wrote a lot of beautiful nature based songs. I love his use of nature symbolism and similes. "Rhymes and Reasons", "For You" and "Calypso" are so beautiful! He also sang a duet with opera legend Placido Domingo called "Perhaps Love". A few years ago, Placido got together with several opera singers and made a tribute album singing John's songs operatically. John was also a guest on the original Muppet show. It was a flute and I'm a huge sucker for that too!

Sister. You opened my eyes to other music. My gosh that’s live? No auto tune. Dang. Wow. Can’t imagine the day he sang that to her. Listening to you break it down to about the purity of the song. I am so happy to see someone who can listen to almost anyone or anything and find beauty. You’re right. Music does not see color and if you look past things that you may have grown up with or heard… Don’t listen. Give every song of every kind a chance. Thank you so much. That truly was beautiful

Hey Off Tap Life, Thank you for reacting to John Denver; he is and always will be my all time favorite musical artist. Elvis may have been the King of Rock n Roll, but John Denver was the Singer/Songwriter of Nature, Life and Love. He sold over 40 million records, had 4 #1 hits, and wrote over 200 of the 300 songs he recorded. You basically cannot go wrong with almost any John Denver song. Just like many of his peers: Jim Croce, James Taylor, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, Elton John, Carly Simon, Linda Rondstadt, Simon & Garfunkel, etc, etc, gave us a very special era of sound and stories that we wont soon forget. You and others are starting to rediscover these awesome artists and bands and that warms my heart to no end. "Looking For Space" is my favorite John Denver song; I strongly suggest you listen to it because it will make you think deeply about this path of life we all take. Peace my friend, thank you!

I used to sing John's music to my babies while they were still within me. I was so angry with him when he died! It was so senseless. He built one of those build it yourself ultralight single person plane and crashed. Now looking back from many years, my children now all have children, and I know he of course didn't plan on dying. Annie was his wife but I don't get into public persons private lives so I don't know if they were still together. Of course "John Denver" was his stage name and his actual last name was of German derivative. He has stood the test of time. I was singing his music in my twenties and now getting close to my seventies I'm still singing along. You take care.

I think musically the time period of this song music was more diverse with influences of all kinds blending into the creativity of musically naturally talented individuals that took from each other. So yes this period had more uplifting innocent expressions. I think society was more of a watch dog to one another as to youth acting out in negative/bad behaviors. If youth did something deemed inappropriate the parents were told and it became a blemish on them. So the parents and society as a whole policed negative behaviors more. However, just because this behavior was admonished more publicly I wouldn’t say it didn’t exist in the minds of the individuals less. Just my impressions and observations.

A few suggestion for you. John Denver, It's About Time, What Are We Making Weapons For (with Alexsanda Gradsky), Amazon, Ravens Child. Or a love song For You ( for his 2nd wife). Those first 4 are not well known but are brilliant (he was an Activist and Enviromentalist). Live performances or with less orchestration are best. He sang amazing, live. Oh and if you like accoustic 12 string, Bells of Rhymney! John makes his guitar sound like bells ringing. Again, live version. And I'm Sorry, Seasons of the Heart, Thought of You, Perhaps Love, the sad opposite of Annies Song ( all written for Annie).
