Sack the researcher! The ads were decades after the Pistols split and he wasn't even in Public Image at this point, the money he made from the ads went towards reforming PiL. By this point he was a TV personality in our country the UK.

To anyone who says he is a sell out cause of butter. You cant expect a 61 year old man to be the same exact person he was when he was 20. People expect rock stars to spend the rest of their lives being the person they were when they hit their fame. You cannot expect a 61 year old man to spend the rest of his life donning a straight jacket singing ' anarchy in the uk' til the day he dies. You would consider it sad like steven tyler who literally has spent the last 40 years singing ' walk this way' in the same scarves he has donned since the 70s. It is worse if Johnny Rotten stayed a one hit note for the rest of his life. He is a 61 year old man who is going to do different things throughout his life. He was Johnny Rotten when he was a young man, Johnny Rotten is now older and realizes he cannot be Johnny Rotten for the rest of his life he is John Lyndon. Sex Pistols was a time of his youth and sex pistols and he cant ' be' that for the rest of his life. You would not expect Billy Corgan at 50 to go on stage in the silver pants he wore back in the day singing ' Bullet with Butterfly wings' for the rest of his life. No. Cause he is older he changed and knows he cant be the same grunge person he was in 1995 for the rest of his career until he dies riding that one note from being a generation Xer and you cant expect John Lyndon to do the same thing cause then if he did you would lose more respect for him by riding that one coat tail over the last four decades.

Conan is such a wonderful interviewer for Lydon. John is such an interesting person to talk to and listen too but to wrangle him into answering any question is a difficult task but Conan does it very well.

You cannot expect a 60 year old man to act like a spotty 19 year old rebel, Lydon never sold out selling butter, he done what most celebrities do and that is too make as much money as possible before their bubble eventually bursts. Saying that Lydon has became a bit repetitive over the last few years and has became a bit of a caricature, still have a lot of respect for the man though.

Sex Pistols or PIL whatever but really Is that the best or should I say worst he can do now on live TV....get back to commercials mate I think you have past it.....such a shame that 'has been' celebs have to come back for fame in TV like 'I'm a celebrity get me out of here' etc or commercials........given the choice I would rather fade into obscurity and be remembered for who and how/what I was.......
