John Martyn, OBE (11 September 1948 -- 29 January 2009), born Iain David McGeachy, was a British singer-songwriter and guitarist. Over a forty-year career he released twenty studio albums, working with artists such as Eric Clapton and David Gilmour. He has been described by The Times as "an electrifying guitarist and singer whose music blurred the boundaries between folk, jazz, rock and blues".
John also had a wicked sense of humor similar to that of the Great Tommy Cooper RIP

For my daughter Michelle xx Had the pleasure of meeting John back in the late 80's. We were both on a flight from Edinburgh to Gatwick. Was reading 'To Kill a Mockingbird' at the time and he signed that book for me. Last saw him live at the Royal Albert Hall in London in May 2007, where he was pushed onto the stage in his wheelchair, having lost one of his legs. One of my all time favourite musicians. RIP John.

This is what you got when such incredible talent came together on one stage! There isn't a weak link anywhere and with John and David out front and the dream maker, Allan Thomson on bass, everything became one and true magic happened!

Great stuff again. Written about his daughter Mhairi I believe, when she was becoming a young woman. The other one for her was 'My Baby Girl' on the 75 album Sundays Child. Very nice guitar slotted in here by Dave Gilmour perfectly. This wouldve been a great concert to attend.

John Martyn is my absolute favourite musician of all time. The Soundtrack to my life here in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. He is so missed by all his fans and friends. Discovered him not too long after " Bless The Weather" as a Scottish Lass introduced me to the brilliance of JM. I continue to promote his music, always, all days. I wish I'd been able to see JM, live. Had planned a trip to Ireland to see him live but alas waited too long. RIP, the big man wherever you are... Remember, You can be anything you want..This time around..

Why do people keep breaking my heart uploading vids of times I now dream about. I love my wife and I love my kids. They all know how much I Loved John. Spent enough time getting drunk with the old sod. He asked me once how many of his albums I had purchased. For a laugh I said one. He threw a bar stool at me! Love Light and Peace John. lay one up for me.

what's the guy at 0.05 shouting? it seems to be real funny according to johns great laughter :) priceless communication between john and that guy - some funny comment, john laughs, the guy laughs back.
