Summary:
This is a great show when Mayall reunited original 1960s-era Bluesbreakers Mick Taylor, John McVie (Fleetwood Mac bassist) and drummer Colin Allen. Its a goldmine for fans of Mick Taylor, who is all over this, and includes quite a roster of blues greats joining in, including a smokin hot appearance by Albert King.

Junior is the atypical bluesman. His suit fits him perfectly, he blows the harp to total perfection, and he shows he deeply respects this old Sonny Boy Williamson track. RIP, sir.

Q pickups..... Yes.... this is junior wells and buddy guy, but they are guests sitting in at the John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers Concert, at the Capitol Th., Passaic New Jersey, 82. Albert king and Sippy Walace were there also! A gem....especially Sippy! She's like 75 or so...but can still control a crowd

Never saw Mick Taylor so present in not being present. Mayall gets a short moment (out of obligatory courtesy), but there is only one musical dictator on the stage - who plays all of his five harmonica licks, the ones he constantly performed in those days. For me Junior Wells is the master who recorded “Junior’s Wail” (1954) and other early singles. If you don’t know those, search and listen ...

That’s John Mayall on keys, Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones) on guitar, John McVie (Fleetwood Mac) on bass, and Colin Allen (played with everyone) on drums. Probably the greatest back-up band playing an unrehearsed song with 2 great blues players.

Always liked John Mayall's music, and he always had good musicians with him.....Mick Taylor, Buddy Whittington, Coco Montoya, etc. I just wish somebody would buy John a fucking shirt. Those tank tops don't cut it.

"Wife beater" is a slang term for a sleeveless singlet like Mayall is wearing. Origin unknown.

You aren't wrong, that's what I was going to say. I wonder if John Mayall has anything to do with programming this channel. I doubt it. I've got the impression he has more sense and respect than billing his band over Junior Wells and Buddy Guy.

Legends they might have been, but an audience has the right to expect something better than the first half of this performance. If a pub band put out that sort of unrehearsed mess out they wouldn't get a second gig......

I'm very surprised that this band of all possible bands are not that familiar with this classic. I do admire how quickly Junior catches on and recovers for them without missing a step. It's really hard to sing with the band missing all the cues.
