This is by far one of the most legit songs John Mayer has ever played. The fact that he can so carefully place his guitaring with the words of an old school blues legend is like... that's some serious shit. Not only because this guy is old school blues.. meaning like my grandad has Big Bill Broonzy records. And little ol 32 year old John Mayer can respect that? That's legit. As if I didn't already love and respect him. He is a genius.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE AND ADORE this. John put it to music. Makes me feel like I'm rocking in a rocking chair on a porch on a farm in the south at sunset . Quiet. This song feels so sweet and good.
It's more than a song. It's a meditation. And the Commodore 64 line is classic JM. Thanks for posting this. There are folks out there (like me) who still buy their music the old-fashioned way and have never downloaded iTunes. I would've never heard this if not for YOU.
come on john.... seriously .. this one from failure bin? if we add some nice vocals on a refined background music of this one! then its a perfect song timeless? mmmmm maybe not but seasonable... even when i grow 25(i am 14)... i will hear it once in a while! its like seasonable.. it will keep coming back!
Amaan05 so how about now? Sorry not picking on you, I'm asking honestly cause I always find the predict-my-future-me thoughts interesting..so that's why I took a grab on the situation ^=^
In all seriousness though, holy shit! Can't help but cringe at my comment xD (I guess most of us aren't proud of a lot of what we did/said on the internet at 12-15 year of age) I don't listen to John Mayer as much (I think 'Paradise Valley' was the last album of his I cared about) anymore. Still, respect his musicianship but just parted ways as a listener myself. This track reminds me a lot of lo-fi Soundcloud music - you know, with speech samples over laidback instrumentals etc. Still a good soothing guitar part! But yeah, I did NOT come back to this as much as my 14-year-old self thought I would and don't remember the last time I listened to this.
