Not really what blues is per say, people have had those albums. Frank Zappa comes to mind as a person who didn't exclusively release that type of content.
Gabe Bensinger fuckin dumbass, this is in 2009. Jk about the “fuckin dumbass” thing. I haven’t trolled hard since like 2012, and I felt like going for it just then. Calling someone a fuckin dumbass is not a good thing to do. It can hurt many people. We do not want to hurt people. We want to help them. We want to make everyone’s life more wholesome than could ever be imagined. But yea, this was in 2009. I didn’t get a smartphone until around 2015. I was a tad late, but so were several others. Sadly, I think that the main reason for the lack of phone recording in this clip is mostly due to its age.
Actually, since this is on the set of the late show, they either lock up their phones or are instructed prior to, that anyone filming or taking pictures will be escorted out
He seems SO much more comfortable playing this song and this style than the other Battle Studies vibes...Perfectly Lonely is very much still a Continuum-type sound. I suppose it will take him a while to get truly comfortable playing these very ethereal, low-key Battle Studies sounds....
Love this song, sounds like an Ocean Colour Scene b-side. Works really well live. Its more fully realised than the other new ones live right now, it'll be interesting when I see him in janurary how the others have changed. :D

He never uses the same guitar for more than one song live. Ive seen him live twice and after he performs one song he switches to a different guitar for the next
are you kidding me xD?? I never heard John Mayer perform a song twice. Al live versions are diffrent, thats what makes him great. Every live solo is diffrent some voice lines are diffrent. Making a live performence sound like a studio version isn't that hard, but doing it diffrent everytime is just awesome! Watch the versions of Vultures, incredible!
You gotta understand with these late night TV shows they rehearse the camera moves ahead of time so they probably told the audience not to stand during the performance.
It's some sort of rotary speaker effect... first time i've ever heard jm use one before. Line 6 makes a decent one called the roto machine. It'd be really cool to find out which one he's using tho.

@theadventuresofmary The rugs have nothing to do with the sound. They're there so that shit doesn't move around during the performance. That, and old european ladies lounge room kind of rugs look cool on stage.

maybe JM got a very special talent on making his guitars mate..i mean he paired his guitars(tele and strat) and there was a new guitar born out of love making.. and that is the guitar he is using in this video..weird...
