Billie's touches on the concept of consciousness, which is something still hotly debated in both philosophical and scientific communities. In either event, they're both perfectly normal avenues to start exploring the world...that is until you have people they perhaps trust tell them they're being stupid for even asking it. That just causes them to shut down. We need more inquisitive people in the world, ready to explore...not more drones.

It's almost like in a way you get their best stuff, because they're performing *for each other* and to get each other to laugh, and some of the funniest stuff comes from watching that interaction (like Seth getting a kick out of a joke that just bombed with the audience - possibly in part *because* it bombed with the audience...)
