Bishop John Shelby Spong has made it his life's work to clear up biblical misconceptions. In this lecture, he elaborates on the stories of biblical prophets Hosea, Amos, Jonah and Malachi and explains how these men did not see grand visions from the future. Instead, their record of unique and intimate relationships with God led to a transformation in the way believers read the Hebrew Scriptures.

Charles Whicker: Before calling Bishop Spong a fool, go read your Bible. I refer you to Matthew 5:22 wherein it is stated: "But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire." Looks like you are going to burn. As for debating Bishop Spong, don't bother, he'll eat you for breakfast.

LOL - funny how you lot hate facing the real nature of spiritualism: real justice and real kindness is terrifying to your ilk.

I'd like to have time to hear this but I don't. But from the title I would say that the Bible says that God never does anything without revealing it to His Prophets. Prophets are seers, who so foretell of future events, given revelation of that by the Spirit of God. Prophets were not agents of change but speakers for God.

Not a very good historian, are you Mr. Spong? Israel's God required kindness to the "stranger" or foreigner not of their tribes; He also set penalties as part of his covenant with Israel - proving to be equitable and just in his dealings towards his own chosen people, withdrawing all protection from them when they stray from their covenant. Are you preaching that there is never any justification for punishment? For war? You are a fool, Mr. Spong. I would debate you any day, in public.
