I vaguely remember this interview. Didn't he get really annoyed with one of the questions Lisa asked? I can't seem to find that portion.I might be thinking of another interview.
Back in the 80's when John played with Duran Duran, he was the out of this world beautiful. Square jaw, beautiful flawless face, long streaked hair. His height made him stand out and even that lanky effeminate look was sweet then, Sigh.
Brad pitt is so overrated just another typical hollywood actor, tanned, blue eyes, blond, without those he's just another ordinary guy. John is musician but he is undeniably more beautiful than any leading man in hollywood
buttercup11 Your statement is proven to be true. Scientifically John is one of the most beautiful men in the world using the golden ratio. His face score was 9.17. He even scored 9.43 in his younger years. His score is higher than all his bandmates in duran, even higher than Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt.
This is a great interview! Oh my goodness...his laugh and his smile are to DIE for...and if my smile gets any bigger, my face is going to crack. How awesome that he has the same effect on me 26 years later!! Beautiful man!!
The one thing that always got me was they concentrated so much on Duran Duran's style what they were wearing and what they looked like I mean I will totally agree they are hot but I think John Taylor is a really goo bassist his bass playing was what really gave the grove to all their songs he should be recognized for his playing in some way he is very talented and handsome at the same time he is the total package:)
I just watched this for this first time again from when I saw it when it originally aired. I recorded it on vhs back then and probably watched it hundreds of times. My God I loved him and I can see why so many others did too.. he was the perfect package.. talented, ambitious, funny, yet, soft and sexy and absolutely alarmingly stunningly gorgeous!!! Oh John!! You ruined an entire generation of women. No man could ever be as beautiful as you!! But.. so happy he’s clean sober and still with us today and he and Duran still making fantastic music!!!❤️🌟❤️
Non ho mai visto uno sguardo così sexy ed un sorriso così dolce... il giusto equilibrio tra sensualità e finezza. Sono davvero impressionata da quest'uomo così affascinante e talentuoso. Per sempre innamorata di te John... 😍
The interviewer had him pegged. She apparently did her homework. It was as if she was trying to warn him and call him out on himself. Kinda sad, really. Luckily for him he beat the odds and got clean. Look at him now! Still fantastic, if not better.
It's none of her business to tell him what he should do when a whole lot of other rock stars are worse! He was successful with two bands which he founded. The media was jealous of him and his great looks and he was very underrated by them.
Can't believe they are playing in Skopje! After so many years, I get to see John Taylor in person, here in Macedonia?! Who would have thought? So excited about it Yes, he is still gorgeous and charming.
Wow, just think...in 85 he already thought that the band could be lasting as long as the roling stones already did in that time! Talk about confidence!! And I mean that in a very, very good way!
John has its point though being a popstar is not enough to just have talent. You have to have it all, the look, the charm, charisma, it's the whole package and John has it all. However, if you're musician music is the main thing here, it's the music that you sell, not your look. If you wanna be pretty and looked at then be a model, not a musician because in the end your look will fade and the only thing that lasts is your music. I can't blame John for being so self conscious about his looks. with beautiful face that he has he could easily be a model but john more than just beautiful face, he got some talent too and he should give himself more credit for the talent and the music not just his looks. If I never knew how beautiful he was, looking at him today I wouldnt believe that he was so strikingly beautiful back then. He can't depend on his looks anymore nowadays. Music is the only thing he got left and has to be improved if he still wants to be a rockstar.
it just hit me - how can one group have so much talent with all 4 members being gifted -because they all may have simply loved one song. Peace, Veronica
I get the feeling that he wasn't doing it all the time. There were times he was sober and lucid. I think it was closer to his 30s when he started using more. Alcohol was his problem around his twenties because he said in interviews after he got sober that in his 20s he did enough alcohol to last him a lifetime. And that he never was in a kind of stupor with alcohol. Also he wasn't the kind of drinker that could straight just drink. He'd have coke and/or ecstasy with his drink. But never in a drunken stupor. He did rehab and has been sober and off drugs since. Such an inspiration to many who suffer the same problem.
@@vaughnmonroejr.7122 And the irony is he was making in reply to the comment about him living a hard rock n roll lifestyle. He pulls a face and jokes, "Do I look it?" to which the interviewer replies, "No, not yet - " and he laughs and adds, "' ' But you will!' ". He says it as a joke, but it wasn't too many years after this interview that he was doing cocaine and looked skeletal. The drugs nearly killed him, but at this stage in his life he thought - as so many people in his situation do - "Yeah, but that'll never happen to ME."
@@SarahB1863 Thank you for that comment. I couldn't believe that video later on when he was skeletal and gaunt! I was so scared for him but thankfully he was saved.
John Taylor's youth always makes me smile, because I can't believe that he was so handsome back then. He looks a little bit like Jane Leeves if she became a man.
Interesting interview, as the interviewer - who looks like Pat Benatar - tries to push some unconventional questions through, meeting John's incresing unease. Funny how he's so proud of Power Station, when the album results in pompous AOR American pop rock, while So Red The Rose, although lifeless due to bad production, includes better songs.
Powerstation was amazing. He is amazing with them and Powerstation sold more record and toured. I even liked Andy in it even though I'm not a big fan of his. The other band didn't!
Why do you always infer the Duran members live as closeted homosexuals? The amount of energy one would require to hide such a huge part of one's lifestyle is staggering. Given their ages and political climate in which we're in now, it seems if that if it were true, coming out would prove to be an enormous relief from carrying such a heavy burden.
@@lizloa8350 Don't waste your time on her, clearly she us obsessed with bashing DD. She must be the closeted gay one . And if I may add, I think her elevator doesn't get to the "top floor "🤣
My junior high heart throb.... but never knew he ‘“couldn’t listen to music by an ugly group”....wow... that would have turned me off in a second. Music is for your ears darling... and if it’s great who gives a sh*t what you look like!! Hope he is more humbled these days
Thankfully music turned out differently. Yes, "ugly" people can become successful, and talent matters. He is lucky he has the looks though, because his bass playing and singing is below average.
His bass playing is average?? 😂 What a ridiculous statement. He’s (rightfully) recognized as a fantastic bass player by MANY musicians. Sounds like you’re jealous?
