I have a disabled grandson two weeks after he was born his heart stopped beating and they reanimated him after 10 minutes, that,s his disability one week later he had an operation on his heart,he survived anything. And no matter what happened bad around him,he just smiled. He is my sunshine and my warrior and today he is already 18 years old!
Such a heart warming movie !!!! My oldest son is deaf so I can absolutely relate to this movie !!! The sound track ( music) is amazing for a low budget movie and the actors are all top notch !!!!!!
I am new to the UNITED STATES But fell in love with movies of 70-80s Richard Thomas is such a good actor! I have seen two movies with Richard: No Other Love and To Find a Son I would LOVE to live in the US of 80s
Beautiful movie. An excellent example of art of film making. You don't need a big budget to make a wonderful film. Good story and great acting suffices. Do not miss it. Lucky me to stumble across this movie. Wow!
wonderful movie...love Richard Thomas!...great actor...brings such warmth to his character on screen...just as he did in the Walton's... which I also love! Great film...Thanks!
A young Dennis and John Boy, who seemed to never age, can’t see him without thinking of The Waltons! It’s been yrs. since I’ve seen this movie. No F bombs said by John Boy! But, he did say we-Todd-did. 😂❤
Richard Thomas was a Fine Actor. One thing I always respected with him was, he chose really Great Rolls. Stories of real people in times gone by.. Dennis Quaid and the others were Great Actors as well. A good movie about real people..
I watched the original 1940s one recently and ending up fallen in likeness with it. I never knew that made another version of it. Hardship living with disabilities and never knew it the world can in favor or against you. Really touching movie
This is a great movie with outstanding actresses Johnny Belinda one of my favorite movies the deaf girl did such a great job it was sad what happened to her but I like the fact that the guy stayed with her😮 and he taught her life skills❤❤
I saw the original with Jane Wyman. Superb. This version with 'John-Boy' and Rosanna Arquette ... well, it Hits-the-Mark too. Thank you for the film. :)
The original 1948 movie starring Jane Wyman and Lew Ayres is hard to beat, nominated for 12 Oscars. Jane Wyman who was brilliant, won the best actress award,
My ASL teacher made my class wat this film and answer questions for a test grade and I am obsessed with it now! You have no idea how many times I have watched it!
I was actually looking for the original 1948 version. But I'm glad I watched as it was a really good TV movie I probably would have missed it if I had found the original. Thanks.
I wasn't sure at first, if I would even enjoy this movie. Most often than not, a re-make of such an iconic classic, NEVER lives up to the original!! I mean really, Agnes Moorhead & Jane Wyman!??! Both ladies, Queens of the Silver screen!!! I'm rambling....😂 What I want to express is my opinion / comment / feeling of this version..... Beautiful! Definitely lived up to the Original!! What a shame; Films now days can't or don't follow the clear path these forged!!! ❤
Deaf people are the most humble loving people I have ever known. They have a wonderful sense of humor and love to tease. They are loyal. I have many deaf friends; real friends.
My buddy could sign, we met a beautiful girl at the beach, he won her over, but I wished it were me. She was fun loving, teasing all the time just a pleasure, but I was a fast and furious dater at 18 and when they split, she vanished. Oh well. After getting married 2 times first a nag the other the silent treatment queen, hard to decide which was worse, but deaf would slow down things, and you wouldn't fight much I would think. Peace and quiet in old age is the best, so marriage to a deaf girl might have worked out.
Oh the inner turmoil he has during and after that kiss! 1:04:30 so believable for these two characters. first time I've seen this version, much to appreciate in both versions, I have to say, this version would be more relatable for today's audience. great job John boy!
what a beautiful movie thank you. loved the gal who played Belinda she's so beautiful and always love a movie with Richard Thomas in it too. thank you so much for sharing this.
A great story with a great ending. Ive always loved Richard (John Boy) and Rosanna. Couldnt have picked a better pair to play the main characters. Rosanna was so cute .
good for you. Belinda you had to protect your baby and your self. . thank you for posting this. excellent. movie. you. tube......this is one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life
Her father proud of her too !! He couldn’t protect her forever but that was his baby girl and he did everything he could for her. He died defending her honor but now she knows her rapist will never come near her or her family again.
People with lerning problums have come a longway in the world And they can do anything like any one else with the right training And live onthere own Givin the cha nce
Thank you sooooo much for sharing !!! Haven't seen this in years . After I remembered the name finally , I had forgotten what it was about until now . Great movie !!
I love Richard Thomas especially when he played John Boy Walton on The Waltons! I was born with a learning disability I was born 2 months early prematurely 2 pounds and 15 ounces! I was very lucky to go to a school for people with disabilities I learn in mine own way and graduated from high school and graduated from college I know work taking care of dogs and puppies my dream job I love it! Belinda can learn to do sign language so she can communicate in her own way! I love this movie watching it again a second time!
Just watched this rare jewel. Great movie I love the time Era. Very simple Great actors and actresses. Very good story. Anyone have any recommendations for another movie similar I'd love to hear from you 👍👍👍👍👍
I'm not normally a fan of remakes but this one is nearly as good as the original 1948 Jane Wyman, Lew Ayres film. It updates the setting in a more contemporary fashion. The only thing missing is the court room drama at the end but the use of the social worker as the hero rather than a doctor is a nice touch. This film reminded me of the 1965 film "A Patch of Blue."
William Richmond is a dedicated aid worker, sent to a small southern community to help the poor. While there William meets Belinda, a young deaf mute, whose father wants no help. In time William teaches Belinda sign language and she starts to come out of her shell. Belinda is raped during a party, three months later its found out she is pregnant. The story gets dramatic when the father decides he wants to take the baby from Belinda. Great cast and performances in this made for TV tearjerker. Belinda played by Rosanna Arquette gives an Emmy winning performance as the deaf mute girl. Please be advised this film could bring you to tears, it did me.
Im a hillbilly and there is no doubt in my mind that im a million times smarter than your arrogant self and my manners are far more sophisticated than your stupid uneducated self !!! These hillbillies sure can act so what makes you any better than these Americans ????
Thank you, Specterman2000, for sharing this video with us! I've never seen the original version, but I saw this a very long time ago and I've been wanting to see it again. The performances of Richard Thomas, Rosanna Arquette, Dennis Quaid, and the rest of the supporting cast were amazing and completely believable. I've always loved this movie, so thanks again--I subscribed to your channel!! ~Karen
Great movie! So many good, young actors. I've only seen Richard Thomas in one other movie besides the Walton's, of course. Which he was awesome in. Great upload. 2 thumbs up. Thanks
