Johnny Depp took the stand on Tuesday and began his testimony by explaining why he's suing Amber Heard for defamation.
Actor Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million for defamation in connection with Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed. Heard’s article did not specifically name Depp. Amber Heard is counter-suing Depp for $100 million.

My son was falsely accused of domestic violence by his ex girlfriend. He lost his job and his reputation in our community. It was heartbreaking to hear, years later, that she admitted to her parents and her friends that she lied to cover her alcohol problems. It devastated him and changed the course of his career. I admire Johnny Depp for coming forward to tell his side. I hope he wins.

Yes I feel for your son and can relate. I went through the exact same thing and Johnny Depp makes it easier for men that are too nice and get walked on. It’s important to be loving and kind but decipher when people are authentic or toxic and it’s a big challenge. This whole trial feels like what my husband went through in his previous marriage.His ex wife was abusive and one day in self defense he pushed her and she made such hue and cry.Wrote articles about how he is an abuser and she is a strong powerful woman,to come out of the abusive relationship.Though my husband had never hit her,he choose to remain silent.We are married for the last three years and he has been a wonderful husband,a super caring father to my son.I can’t even imagine how some women glorify themselves and twist the truth like this.Pathetic!

It's interesting and amusing how much expression there is in his face and body when speaking. Even when he's just sitting he oozes expressive output. I absolutely feel for him. I was married to a narcissist for 20 years and he did nothing but defame my character and tried to throw all of the blame for our abusive relationship onto me when we were going through our divorce. It even went to the point of me going to jail because of his lies against me. Thank the Lord I got bail and the judge dismissed all the charges once all the evidence was heard.

The more pertinent question is when a person has been nabbed as a liar, and as one who has claimed that an act of domestic violence occured, which in fact did not occur, what provisions does the law make available for punishing such a wicked soul? People have gone to jail over and over and over again in America for crimes they did not commit, having been lied upon by females; when the truth finally does come out, what is the punishment given to such liars that put innocent people behind bars? Domestic violence has a negative impact and so should be punished; liars who frame innocent people also cause negative impacts, and should be punished!!

It’s unfair for anyone in a domestic violence case. Man or woman. Women got the shaft for years because they were rarely the aggressors, yet were not valued in the same way as men for a long time. But Amber Heard was clearly the aggressor in this case, he was treated very unfairly and I feel that his addiction was used against him to get people to believe he was what she accused him to be.
