This guy is a genius. He played the press for years, turns out he is in fact a good person. Hats off to you Mr. Lydon, well played. I hope you and your family find health.
Are you kidding? Have you heard the venom this guy has spouted at people over the years? If he can’t take it some mild jokes over his appearance that’s really just too bad for him.
Mother with cancer, wife with alzheimers and a deceased child, I can't even imagine how that would feel like, alcohol and food is unfortunately a very good coping mechanism for tragic events like these, no wonder his physical development. I hope he gets better though!
Please state what evidence convinced you that Savile was guilty, and please show where Lydon claimed Savile was a child molester before the British Establishment started making that claim after his death. Thanks.
@The Searcher Please produce the audio of him saying that everyone in the music industry knew Savile abused kids, and please produce the evidence of him being banned for saying it. Thanks.
Poor Johnny he looked after his siblings when he was growing up as a teenager. He had it tough and came from the bottom. Respect to you mate, you were a huge strength to disillusioned youth like me in the seventies.
thank you! His mom was very sick and had a lot of miscarriages. Some of us seem to have been bothered to read his two books. I'll defend John until I get fat (ter)
Keep fighting John. I’ve lost a grandfather and aunt to Alzheimer’s. It’s one of the hardest things to go through. Take care of you and your family. I’m pulling for ya mate.
That's because he's a rich celebrity. You wouldn't hug an absolute stranger with the same issue. Or perhaps you would, maybe, but most people are hypocrites / materialistic / superficial / celebrity worshipers.
@@damienholland8103 you just wish she would hug you is all, ya jealous fuck! Get over ya self u knob, shes just trying to be sweet and ya had 2 run ur pie hole.
How come he doesnt share the story about the time Gregg Allman was going to kick his ass and he ran away from it? Oh right. It's just John Lyndon and his made up stories here. Not actually real.
No, I think there is. He can be a twat like anyone can. For instance, he says he insulted Springsteen, but can't remember what he said and says people get offended too easily. That's very dickish isn't it, whatever you may think of Springsteen's music.
@@manicstreetpreacher200 PIL to me are much more influenced and influencial, still dave is a great musician and has a great musical spirit. That said I would like to point out some guys named NEW ORDER, that were the fundation of club music, one of the most influencial bands in new wave/synth pop and previously kinda created goth music and post-punk with Joy Division along side other bands. Parliament-Funkadelic are another crazy "double" band that pushed the boudries of funk and psychedelic music Jimmy Page with the yardbirds and the zeppelin, insane I love these multifaced artists that managed to inspire in multiple ways in different times of history. Damon Albarn could be one of the modern fellas along side Grohl.
I wish him all the luck in the world. I hope he can find some peace. I myself am a rocker. But I've been watching over my aging mom. My dad died in 2000 of pancreatitis. So I understand how sickness, disease, and aging wears on you. Peace to you, John.
I adore John, and much respect. I wish him well. He's a real one, and a real original! Bless him, his family ( so sorry for his brothers his lovely wife..) John is a caring man. I hope he will stay with us for another lifetime! I just adore him 💓
My mom got sick with Alzheimer's, it's a damned disease that devastates those who are affected and those close to them. I've been living hell for a year. I do not wish anyone such a horrible experience.
What's even worse is that video with him drunk on the stage with like 6 other punk legends like Rollins and Duff. Hes constantly interrupting everyone and the crowd starts to turn on him and towards the end he tells the audience that the love of his life nora has alzheimers and that whenever she calls he has to answer. You can tell hes holding back tears and he asks the audience if they're ok with letting him do that? He's so busy being constantly at war and witty that he actually felt the need to ask for some leniency as if it's an actual fight. Poor johnny. We love you we don't hate you.
@@andreat.2809 I feel for you since I am going through the same with my mom. The idiots making jokes about John's size would have chewed their own tongue if they were in his position. John, keep it up man.
Yes sir and as a caregiver I respect John so much. It is not for the faint of heart, especially when it's someone you love. He has a heart of gold with that nasty attitude
@@misakiyoshida it's not a nasty attitude... it's just raw, unapologetic truth and honesty from John, which is what I've always liked and respected about him
No your body doesn't change that much over time buddy. Putting on that amount of weight and having such a drastic change of appearance in such a short time isnt normal and is clearly a sign of ill health.
no name He's in his 60's at least, he certainly isn't going to look like he did when he was in his 20s or 30s , it could be something else but, I know I'm not as skinny as I was when I was in my 20s and that was just in the 90s , I'm not that big, but everyone's body changes over time, especially as you get older
@@fredflintstone3757 He was thin only a couple of years before this. This wasn't a gradual weight gain with age. It was a drastic weight gain in a very short period of time.
@@noname-yt7uf Not a sign of ill health.More like shoving too much down his neck & he admits that.lf it doesn't bother him what has it got to do with anybody else.?
This guy was ,and is a true individual. He meant so much to me when I was young.I had the chance to speak with him when he was doing an in-store record signing but I couldn't . I walked passed him while he was smoking a cig and just looked him in the eyes.He looked at me...that was it.I wish I'd had said something.I felt if I'd told him how much he meant to me,he would think I was a jerk.
Johnny (not) Rotten, one of the most misunderstood people in the entertainment industry. I've always seen through the bluff, he never fooled me. I've always known he was a nice bloke. Witty, articulate, honest, genuine and funny.
And now we know why he is consoling in the bottle... Respect for sharing John and thanks for your honesty as per usual... I have a lot of mirrors in there and can relate... I was just a boy when I listened to you growing up in the 70s in the UK and remember so well the zietgiest of the time "and boy was it crazy but to me personally a very dark but also a family orientated time.. Sunday dinners and grandparents watching high chaparell while I was listening to punk on my turntable as a teen. "Great memories... But hat off to you John for all your years of memories albeit a misinterpretation by us the baying public as we know you never intended for punk to take off and be labelled the way it was but it happened and we love you for your input to all our lives.. Watching you now you was years ahead of your time and when your movie is made we may be able to get a glimpse of how it really want for you.. God bless you and your family with all what's happening John... ANGER IS AN ENERGY...
A bunch of disgusting comments over here. OK. he's fat So what?... He's in pain, troubled by family issues and... DOING GREAT STUFF!!! Greetings from Argentina, Maestro!!!
People always emphasize on performers gaining weight. Always. You can be paper thin, anorexic in rock music, and people will think it's cool. The moment you put on weight, it's all what's talked about.I hate that. It's shallow, it's lame. Are we just an appearance? Is it all that matters? Are we just flesh? Or is the person underneath the most important? I wonder why our society is obsessed with that. Plus I think he's lost some of the weight since then, even though these things come and go.
Love ya John and hope things get a little easier in your personal life. You are a Legend. Fakes are ten a penny in comparison to you. You have and always will be a huge influence to me all my life. Take care of yourself John. HUGE RESPECT AND LOVE!
Really funny story, i live in scotland Stirling at the time so i was at my doctors waiting to be seen n who walks in but john lydon lol was omg what you doin here n he said heard this guy is a good doctor lol
The old drummer from the drum store Lydon refers to at the Ritz PIL show was Sam Ulano. He was a pretty famous drum educator in NYC. Tons of RU-vid clips of him too.
John - Wishing your family well.......and.........your wife in particular.........Caregiving can be very tough on the caregiver.......... Best to You and Rambo.....
It is. I care full time also and have done for years. It seriously takes its toll on the carers physical and mental health. I have compassion for this man and admire his devotion to his wife
I have always loved John's honesty. If you agree with him or not, you have to admit he does not soft soap it. Sorry to hear he is going through some rough stuff.
Honesty? I don't know about that. I love love love the Pistols and like PIL enough but Johnny is full of shit. The Springsteen story is a perfect example.
Hated the Pistols in the '70's.....but later came to realize that the manufactured hype was much of the cause....John is a REAL human...he is wonderfully down to earth and I just love his sense of self and how he views the world....no bullshit taken and none given! all the best Johnny...love ya man!
So sorry to hear about Johns troubles. Grew up with this guy. NMTB , Pistols , amazing . . . and Metal Box . . . PiL Two timeless classic records . I am with you mate 🤗
Johnny is one of the most honest men on this planet. Says it as it is and stands by his opinion. Total respect Johnny. You are a legend mate. Hope you n yours health returns. And shame on the nay sayers with churlish comments. Life fkcs everybody eventually! No one gets out alive!
"A friendly bunch of sarcasm in the shitstem" - that says it all right there for me! There's two modes to making music - you're either trying, or you're doing. After so many years, I got sick of 'trying'. But John has forever been 'doing'. And much like The Green Mile or a Twilight Zone episode - he's forever cursed with it till the end. A blessing in one way. But then for all the personal issues, health and age, I'm surprised he's getting any fun out of it at all still. My hats off to you John!
This is what you want- this is what you get! I was at that NYC Ritz show with curtain. New York audience pulled the curtain flooring from under them and it was "shows over!" Very unusual show.
I live close to what is now the Emirates stadium (home of Arsenal football!) that's built on the childhood home of John Lydon. I often think of him when I walk down Benwell Road.
I wish I could have loved punk more but aside from a group here or there I was primarily a John Lydon fan. He was the extent of my interest in punk but he was enough because he was incredibly real and genuine. He remains so today. I loved how he busted Dick Clark's chops with his bizarre off the wall appearance on American Bandstand. American Bandstand was great but having Lydon's antics on the show made it better. John Lydon is a true giant in music. Sorry about your family, John. Blessings to them.
You're right...I consider myself a punk fan but when I actually think about it, there was only the Pistols, the Clash, not-quite-punk bands like the Stranglers and the Banshees, second division plodders like the Lurkers, maybe the Vibrators, and the rest was rubbish. Stuff like Eater, Slaughter and the Dogs, just bereft of any talent and with no legacy. The proof of the pudding was the great music that Lydon continued to make (members of the Clash too, plus the Stranglers and the Banshees went on to make many great albums).
I love john always, I hope he gets better cause he is such a realistic guy! He's real! Always was and funny! Intelligent! And true big hearted, just don't fuck up his mind and heart..he's lovely! 😎🖤🇬🇧
With all the fake people in the entertainment industry it’s always refreshing to spend time listening to John Lydon who is so brutally honest all of the time and often keenly perceptive. His weight was a shock though, but then so is my own. It’s amazing how it creeps on when you’re not watching.
Yeah true in 2019 I was shocked to see my photos I’d gone from a slim U.K. size 10 lady to a fat bellied pudgy size 16 mum..I was horrified and never ate as much again down to size 12 now but very scared to become that big again! 😮😮
That was nice of John not to rip her to shreds. It was actually a good overview of things and genuineness. She seems like a lovely woman with a good heart so a good response was apt. :-)
