Dale Cooper anyone could throw it to him, all he does is chuck it into a crowd of people and mike evans goes up and gets its over a guy on every play. I'm sorry that you live in Cleveland, but add this guy to your yearly QB busts.
Saying Manziel will be a bust is crazy . Remember everybody said Newton would be a bust? Manziel didn't win the heisman for nothing . This guy is amazing and for someone to say he sucks is really dumb . He can actually throw the ball better than what ppl think.
I have concerns for Manziel. - His spiral is nowhere near tight enough. - His scrambling ability looks good on college film, but NFL defenses are bigger, faster and hit harder. - His accuracy is poor. Much of the time he was bailed out by Evans. - When running, he dives head first. He needs to learn how to slide, and slide well. At the moment, he's a concussion waiting to happen. - He seems to rarely go through his reads properly before taking off. Much of this is stuff which can be worked through in practice, and which can be developed. However, Browns fans who see him as their potential saviour are likely to be disappointed unless he is given time to develop.
I agree but its not like he is running the pistol like RG3. When you run the pistol you risk getting hit by the bigger guys but whats special about Manziel is he can beat you with his arm better then any of those type of QB's like RG3, Cam Newton. Manziel he is in the shotgun alot witch gives him less risk to get hurt. He is smart and I don't think he will be taking chances with the hits as much in the NFL. His spiral with have to get better if he wants to play in Cleveland.
Manziel is exciting to watch. Personally, I hope his game translates to the NFL. I'm Not a Browns fan (ATL actually), but the Browns have very passionate fans. If he does well, it will be good for Cleveland and everyone who loves football. So far, the only thing it seems people have against him is his "off-field antics." You know... Having his picture taken with famous people. SOMEONE CALL THE COPS! (The way people react, you'd think he had those pictures taken on a elevator security camera.) I'll give him a chance and wait a bit before I make up my mind if he's a bust or a steal. However, I am rooting for him. Relax hombres, that's just my opinion.
Lol at all the people saying welcome to Dallas clearly the Texans will pick Manziel Texans have no.1 draft pick.. sorry to burst your bubble but that's just reality and that's how its going to end up...
Johnny wasn't bad in the NFL u have to realize he was on a god awful team, if he was on a better team and he didn't have off the field issues I think he would still be playing and he would be a star
***** Kaepernick is built like a tank, ditto for Cam. Manziel is about 40 pounds lighter and half a foot shorter. Russell Wlson doesn't run like Manziel, or play like him. Wilson is a lot closer physically to Manziel but is in control when he runs - Manziel seems to do the Vick dance and try to juke everyone.... I don't think the comparison to Manziel to the three you mentioned extends beyond their label as 'hybrid' or 'running' qbs.
Maybe not, but he will still have that A+ Scramble up his sleeve, he may not pick up the yards he did in college running, it might take a few hit s for him to learn that, but he sure will keep plays alive, and light up the NFL with a bit more excitement. As a brit watching, I kinda dropped off last season but with the excitement he brings, he might entice fans like me back because it's something different.
same thing for 2:34 try turning your back to a charging NFL lineman and you'll be in a wheelchair. This cat is all sizzle and no steak. Poor browns. They were bedazzled I guess. How many rings does Kordell Stewart have? Or Cam Newton, or Kaepernick or Vick. The list goes on and on...
I don't see why people say he cannot translate his game to the NFL. His size? He is the same size as drew brees and russell wilson and they are very successful NFL QBs. Hes a scrambler? Look at his stats. His pass rushing yards increased tremendously in the 2013 season and that shows dynamics. He has more of an arm than people give him credit for. Yes, he tends to scramble more than others but that does not mean that he cant translate that to the NFL and mold an offense around his style of play. Plus, the kids only 21! He could hit another growth spurt for all we know. All im saying is hes young and plenty of time to translate his game to the NFL!
Cornelius Helius Haha I'm sorry but I think it's the stupidest thing when people say this. If you excel at a college level, most likely you'll do fairly well at the next, just like how if you excel at the highschool level you'll do fairly well in college. It's not like college football and the NFL are 2 separate sports
Scott kautz Troy Smith, Colt Mccoy, the list goes on and on and on. Absolutely no guarantees come when going from college to nfl, specially with quarterbacks that like to run.
I can see why you say that. No one can scramble around and the heave the ball in traffic in the nfl like he did many times, but as long as he makes good desicions I believe he will be solid. He improved his passing this season dramatically and he can only get better. Also when the pocket breaks down he will at times be able to make plays. I think as long as he makes good decisions throwing the ball, doesn't try to do so much with the ball and can control his drinking (and not get into other drugs like Jamarcus Russel and Ryan Leaf) he will be a solid player.
Drew Brees and Russel Wilson have proven that smaller sized QBs can perform very well in the NFL, and judging that the Houston Texans GM's are out to make a quick buck and re-energize the fan base, he may very well end up there, unfortunately the speed as well as the harder hits of the NFL will likely make him a bust like RGIII...Look at Cam Newton who has speed, athleticism, and enormous power, he is left minimizing his running game just to keep his body and most importantly his arm strong for the entirety of the season.. Hope he proves me wrong but he and RGIII will likely have more than just a Heisman in common soon.
He can extend really extend plays, but let's be honest. He's lucky to have good receivers, and tough/smart players on the field blocking for him when he scrambles even though he didn't throw it to an open man going through his progressions. NFL worthy, but don't start him right off the bat.
Idk why people say he will be a failure. He's a PLAYMAKER!!!! Sure he has alot to learn but he's destined for greatness and when he does great in the nfl all of you naysayers better not say yea I knew he would be great
He makes plays literally no one else can make. His guts and sheer creativeness on the field set him apart from anyone else. His competitiveness/toughness is on par with any other legendary qb.
Here's the thing. Manziel is a great player and a fantastic athlete. But most of these plays are him getting great runs and throws on the run due to poor tackling by the defense. In the NFL, that won't happen as often. When he goes up against some of the strongest and biggest tacklers in the world, this won't happen as much. Good luck Manziel, you're gonna need it. I'm still excited to see what he'll do this year though for the Browns.
i hate when people that didn't play or clearly rarely watch football talk. You make that decision when A. you have one of the worst defenses and are losing B. when you have a great receiver with short DB's and C. The receiver caught it right? He has excellent decision making abilities and when the talent goes up and he has 2 nfl pro bowlers playing against him as DB's he won't make that throw. Just shut up and enjoy his college throws.
Manziel is a great qb. He does have his flaws though and he knows that. That's y he's not starting for the first couple of games. HE CAN SCRAMBLE IN THE NFL PPL! He just needs to know when and how wen making plays. I'm so sure it will all work out for us. GO BROWNS! !!
lol, this is Johnny "Football"? Tim Tebow? I'm sorry Cleveland but i'm very happy the vikings didnt get a chance to draft Manziel and had to "settle" for Bridgewater
Music was annoying. ZERO soul and sounds like typical garbage heard in the 201X era. Throw in some Biggie or Doobie Brothers and this video changes completely.
It hard to be a pocket QB these days when you have d lineman running faster then some DBs in the NFL right now. That's why some coaches in the NFL are looking for QB that can make plays with there arms and legs. Johnny not going to be another Tebow, because his technique and mechanics are way better then Tebow coming out of college. It's just my opinion. We will see what happen in 2014 season.
Evans' made Manziel look way better than he really is. Before people go and comment that "Evans didn't catch all the passes last season", you are correct..what I am saying is that Evans caught the majority of the passes in this highlight reel and any other Manziel highlight reel ever made.. In the NFL however, there is no way he will have WR's standing in the middle of the field by themselves like in this video or linebackers miss sacks. To find out if Manziel is the real deal or a bust will be when he has to consistently throw into heavy coverage, Seahawks defense doesn't let up, Raiders defense looks menacing so far this offseason, Chiefs defense looked gnarly last year.. Good luck Johnny, seriously, good luck.
@bruno del i agree. Hopefully, we texans get him. This guy awfully scrambles alot. Very possible he becomes Kaepernick and Russell wilson or the new Tim Tebow
I'm just gunna say its all how the nfl team plays the qb. Browns have had no luck with mccoy or weeden, jets with geno smith, bradford with rams, etc. But when you get a good team with smart coaches, example the ravens, with joe flacco, who's gone to the playoffs 6 years straight, afc champ game 3 years straight, and a superbowl w, your gunna breed a champion. So far, all the teams first in the draft aren't gettin anything, except maybe texans or vikings. But idc these qbs will join shit teams and suck thanks to the coaches, sorry johnny football, unless texans get you, your gunna have a bad time
Great college QB, but It seems like majority of his "magic" comes from comeback plays that are very risky. I like Bridgewater to excel in the NFL. Go Jags!
He owned the college game, can't see it translating to NFL though. A lot of his scrambling would get shut down by faster and powerful defensive lineman, and many of his throws were fat picks waiting to happen in pros.
Hahaha Cowboys? Hahaha bull Manziel is one of my favorite all-time players and I'm a die hard Aggies fan not a bandwagon rider buuut he'll end up with Jacksonville or Cleveland sadly
He's just so petite. All those arm tackles, and slipping defensive players, you wont see them do that in the NFL. They'll be sacks. And Hold on to the ball, imagine what some of those defensive linemen in the NFL will do to a ball being held way out there. Either gonna snatch it, or hit him so hard, he losses it.
I would love to give a guy a chance in the nfl, but I just feel he cant be pulling all this dropping back twenty yards in the big leagues. He is gonna have a rough start, but with time he may.... and I say MAY become an average QB, I see him starting 1 year tops, or being a back up for a few.
He's a good quarterback, but I think he should have stayed in college to rack up more experience and popularity, then when comes time he'll be #1 with the rep of being the great college quarterback... But he fucked it all up
His (scrambles) will get him demolished, he's half as good as Vick and Vick has no rings, Manziels celling is 1 ring, these faux franchises continue to waste picks on names over talent, go pats
I don't think he is all that good. He should be a third or fourth rounder. In the NFL he needs to master the pocket. His throwing motion seems all wrong. He throws up way to much junk and takes off running way too soon. I wouldn't want him on my team.
Those are college hits. Soft hits. In the NFL you are gonna get hit by 30 year old grown men who will want to crush manziel. Trust me. Every linebacker out there is gonna want manziel to run so they can crush him out.
Anybody with sense can see the players he had around him, he will be successful but he needs players it's a team game and he had a a+ line a+ recievers A+ running backs a+ tight end! no one can do it alone but in Cleveland he has 1 superstar receiver , and an ok defense, if I was him I would wait around as backup study the play books wait for a chance to leave Cleveland and play with the cowboys since a romo offense is what he needs to fulfill his dream of a nfl superstar by then Dallas will have a better everything Texas product on a Texas team!
I like him good college player, but lol he is gonna bust point blank. If u think I'm wrong you obviously never played even pass high school, and you need to watch more football.
people in college station have a reason to slap hands here and there....props to johnny, but in the nfl teams will catch on quick with this "johnny football". im sure he'll do well
This dude is not as fast as Russel Wilson, has off the field antics, seems in his own world, a lot of his passes look intercept able at the nfl level. He's gonna be a flop. Tim the bow, Terrell Pryor, Denard Robinson all over again.
Someone needs to draft this kid. Patriots need to draft him & give Brady old self a break. He knows how to run a ball too! Unlike Matt Ryan just pure talent
Holy shit their was zero impressive passes in the highlight . Truly embarrassing , a ton of super risky , making the receiver come back to the ball or miracle lobs to a wr . Other than being a great runner who's got great mobility , he has no throwing strengths at all . Complete bust , there's not a QB in this draft that deserves to go round 1 , key word is deserve
Johnny football is the truth I have played against this man. U can't stop him u can only hope to contain him and he will die before he let's that happen. If Tim tebow dreams about being a better qb then johnny he better wake up and apologize.
They said tht johnny sucks but there johnny manziel is the best quarter back i have ever seen n i know tht johnny manziel will make a big difference playing with cleveland
dont get me wrong, he a very talented athlete, but scrambling like that will do you little to no help in the nfl. I mean yes we have great qb scramblers in the nfl. But one of those times hes gona get hit hard a la RG3. And then hell see he should learn how to play in the pocket.
He is very fun to watch, but it seems like he sails a lot of his passes especially when he is scrambling. College=completions in the NFL that will = picks or unconscious receivers.
You can say there's bad tackling but there is horrendous blocking on some of them, both of these won't happen ib the nfl (well shouldn't) I hope he does well
He is scrambling quite a few times but he is also getting out of bad situations like tony romo. But if he keeps on doing that he can get his arm hurt. So he needs good lineman and most of the teams that have the first 10 picks in the draft have bad or ok offensive linemen. So it will take a few years for him to get a good line, which could be too long.
