1962 Seattle, Washington a Saturday afternoon and a silver 300 SL pulled in our driveway.The man said he was there to show me the car and give me a ride. I was 16 and while I'd already lived all over the U.S. and some foreign places (Dad's job) - THIS was the best thing ever. A couple hours later I was waving at the tail lights. WOW...

@@Hanzyscure -- he's famous for being the (non-fashion) model who had long hair at a time when most men saw that as being anti-masculine. That look may have worked for him when he was still in his 30s, posing for beefcake photos to go on the covers of romance novels. But now that he's in his 60s, and he clearly dyes his hair, he just looks ridiculous, like a guy who's balding, but grows his hair long and does a comb-over to give the impression of being younger. It's embarrassing. Men should never try to look younger than they actually are, if it requires artifice.

They've got a gorgeous one of these at The House on the Rock in Wisconsin. It's a tourist trap house that I think was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright that some crazy rich guy owned and is now a museum of all the curiosities he collected. You spend a couple hours going through warehouses of dolls, miniature models and carousels that will bore you to death, but getting to see one of these makes it worth it. *Referring to 300SL, started commenting before watching full video.

Filming permits ..... thats how they do it, they pay for the permits and police escorts. Why do you think jay has never gotten pulled over doing onramp accelerations. I assume he does not push the boundaries too far while filming, but this is the man who got a speeding ticket for 75mp in a 10hp steam car.

I’d be curious how much Jay bought the 300SL for. I saw the episode where he focused on it. He found it in a shipping container in the condition it is in....minus the engine. They refreshed the car and found an engine but didn’t repaint it,he likes the idea of not worrying about scratching the paint. Even as it is I imagine it’s worth a couple million bucks.🙀🙀🙀🙀👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Only cars I will own are manual. Which is why I'm still driving an 04' model (Toyota Tacoma 4x4) But love it. I guess I'm screwed if I have to get anything new. Not to many manual cars still being made or at least offered in US. ✌️
