Love the part where Jon talks about not doing commentary because it would give his opponents an idea of how he thinks. That is super deep and tactically minded. True champion.
Some men have a self destructive gene. I am not trying to compare myself to Jon (although my name is Jon lol) cause he’s a world champion athlete. But I have a great life and every time I reach a peak I somehow enter this self destructive phase. The last battle I had was with cocaine. I never enjoyed anything about the drug, and it was destroying my life, but for some reason I kept doing it. Hard to explain but just saying I can relate to a guy like Jon who has it all, and something deep inside him aches to ruin it all
Seeing Jon Jones with someone he actually likes and doesn't HAVE to do the interview with is so cool. He acts so funny and different rather than watching what he says and being ultra serious with Ariel Helwani or Press Conferences.
I agree I use to hate Jon because of all the DC drama and the pico's but wow he seems so down to earth and genuine. I would love to see more of this Jon
He seems like a legitimately cool guy when in a comfortable atmosphere with people he likes. This interview has changed my perception of him a little bit
Couldn’t agree more. After I saw him on Rogan’s podcast … That *completely* changed the way I thought of him. I could always tell, just from how he fights, that he’s smart/has a high “Fight IQ”; But I didn’t realize that he’s legitimately, _extremely_ intelligent. He’s also really articulate/well-spoken, thoughtful, analytical, etc. He definitely doesn’t have the kind of personality that you would expect, after all the things that he’s been involved in. It seems like *A LOT* of the best fighters are intelligent. Adesanya, Yan, Poirier, Volkanovski, Moreno, Gane, Whittaker, Edwards, Cormier, Khabib, DJ, GSP, Aldo, Fedor, Cro Cop, Cruz, Conor, Mir, … They’re all intelligent. And you can tell-even if you only see them fight, and never actually heard them speak outside of that. Even boxers-seem the same: Ali, Tyson, Mayweather, Leonard, Robinson, Klitschko, Manny, Ward, Bradley, Foreman, Hopkins, Lewis, Lomachenko, Inoue, Spence, Marquez, Usyk, Algieri … They all seem like they’re intelligent. I never in a million years would’ve thought Tyson was anything other than an absolute moron; But after listening to him in interviews, watching his documentary, etc. etc… He’s actually really thoughtful/philosophical to the point that I was kind of shocked.
this comment aged as well as buttermilk. Jon “wifebeater-bones” Jones is a danger to the people around him. Thats good in a ring, but terrible for his wife/kids and their physical wellbeing.
@@scoopstacey3112 yeah, I feel like an idiot now after making that comment. Haha, I should've known better. I got fooled, again...I hope he gets better and gets his shit together though.
Bones is super comfortable because Steve O has done crazy shit like him, as a addict myself I can relate when someone else knows what it’s like I get along with em so much better
Not all addicts hit and run pregnant women, not all addicts are cheaters, liars, snitches. Jon Jones is all of that. Addiction really has nothing to do with just being a total piece of shit.
I can’t believe I’m listening to Steve O talk about health and safety measures twenty years after I saw him shove a Hook in his mouth like a damn fish.
When i was 18 I watched him staple his nutsack to his thigh and have a fireball shot off his head live. I got him to sign my DVD cover in his own blood and right after he hit me in the nuts. 15 or so years later I've grown up and so has he, and it's wonderful to see him so happy and healthy and still having adventures. Look at Bam and see what he could have become.
Steve-0 is just such a pure soul. Drama free. Judgment free. Absolutely open to talk about anything, will admit anything, and has no ego. Just a great person to be around
I have to be honest. I've never liked Jones ever.. but seeing him with Steve hearing how passionate he is and how he actually has felt in his life. I've changed my mind. He's obviously fighting demons but is influenced by the right ones and gets rewarded by his choices he sees that. But no matter how many demons try he prevails and something out there is clearly watching over him. I wish I had that power and being. He seems genuine and kind hearted. All the best jones for the future in and out of the octagon will be following you on your journey from now on as a fan and someone who has been inspired! from a fan in new Zealand!
hes always been a good dude he is just a regular dude who wants reasonable things for the world and he likes to get fucked up and have fun from time to time just like me or u or alot of other people
Steveo Killing It With These Interviews!! Also Steveo has gotten SOOOOO much better at letting the guest speak and just listening and letting them tell the story.
I freaking love seeing Jon like this. He is right, it's nice to see him in a different light. I feel like we don't really know anything about him other than his fights and the negative stuff from the media.
This is a hard-hitting interview. Stevo asks the questions that is on everybody's mind, like telling him that people are seeing him as more human in his last two fights. If Joe Rogan were conducting this interview there would be an hour conversation about nutrition and training camps and it would put everyone to sleep.
Definitely agree about the Joe Rogan comment... the guy loves to talk about nutrition and training and it's just like: why not focus on your interviewee? Like we're here to listen to their story, I do not care about your nutrition advice.
@@miles4212 maybe, i think he's probably just personally interested in it. his podcast has almost always had a 'bros sitting and bullshitting' atmosphere because that's how it started, and if he's a martial artist himself, commentates for the UFC, is friends with many of the fighters, and is interviewing a UFC championship, it just makes sense that they would talk about shit they are both interested in and want to discuss I have a lot of issues with joe and his podcast personally, but him talking about shit he understands and is interested in personally and professionally is not one of them lol. i know you're not complaining about the content, but i just wanted to mention that because other people are. i don't think he puts as much thought into his interviews as he probably should regarding what people outside of the room, especially the audience, might be hearing. that's one of my criticisms of him but it's also a big part of what allows him to have unreserved and interesting conversations
@@deensama7718 as a massive jre fan i have to say i agree. steve-o got the best interview out of jbj anyone couldve gotten because he caters to the audience, not to say joe doesnt but like you say a lot of it seems like stuff that interests joe
This is definitely a different insight into the personality of John Jones I like him as a fighter and I think he's the best to ever do it... But he always rubs me the wrong way in interviews and how he comes across as arrogant but at the same time preaches about God it just seems fake.. But I separate the two I don't have to like someone to consider them the best and enjoy their fights
Steve Booth dont forget steroids along with a bunch of other legal issues . Respect to Jones for doing this non profit organization weather hes doing it for pr reasons or not hes still doing it so that deserves respect
This was a juicy episode! They just keep getting better and better. You and Scott really had your heads in the game on this interview! And Jon Jones seems like a super down to earth dude! Great show guys!
@@FalconMidget the mask he wears is down to earth, the character he plays may be down to earth, he is a sociopath who calculates and plans how people perceive him. Its also a big reason he is such a good fighter...
@Chiku N Yep, you don't understand sociopathy. Nothing about Jones is authentic. It's all an act. The eyes are the biggest giveaway. There's nothing behind them which matches his statements or reactions.
This episode was great. Can't even lie some of the things Jon said hit home. Made me realize alot of the things I'm dealing with and some inspiration to push away from those. Would definitely love to see a second episode!
Bones used to have Nike & Gatorade sponsors, he could of retired a long time ago...if his demons never came out but we all got them brother. Steve-O WAS the poster boy for partying NOW he is the poster boy for sobriety. Keep going brother, “One day at a time”
Tough spot for Steve-O to be in as an interviewer on the contract negotiation topic - with him being a fan of UFC, and friends with both Dana and Jon. But super entertaining to watch haha.
Does anyone else notice Jon jones fighting tears in this episode, the media has dragged this man through the mud and I can feel it, I feel bad for him.
This was the best UFC interview I’ve heard (sorry JRE) People have always talked about Jon for years but it’s so clear how similar Jon and Steveo are. They both have had to work through a lot of stuff in their life but as you can see that pain has pushed them so far.
I’ve always been a fan of this guy, I don’t care about his problems. I’ve had plenty of hiccups in my life as well, people are allowed to make mistakes and grow up. Keep doing you Bones, much love.
Jon Jones is one of the least genuine people on earth. What have u been smoking. I love him as a fighter but he is a full on sociopath. If cameras are rolling and he's sober he is the opposite of genuine. After choking Machida brutally his coach tells him basically go pretend to care people are watching lol. He comes across genuine here but come on wholesome lmao. He's one of the dirtiest fighters ever steroids and in the ring eye pokes oblique kicks etc and a known coke fuelled woman beater. Food banks and protect the local community shit he's one calculating dude. I guarantee he has some p.r telling him how to act like a human lol. Sorry but your.comment triggered me those two words and Jon Jones in the same.sentence are ridiculous. If u hadn't said thank u I would've smiled at your sarcasm . I can't ever believe he believes what he's saying lol
I think I've made my point the guy will lie and cheat whenever he.has.to .his court appearance s were so disingenuous aswell as all his bullshit apologies .He's still one.of.the goats anyway.
Amazing interview! I am so happy that people can FINALLY see who JON JONES is and that he opened up, and showed who he TRULY is!!! God Bless you JJ!! (And I always rooted for DC) But they both are very good human beings!
Absolutely great podcast - Steve-O is a natural podcast “personality” - So great to see a champion like Jones lead in his community - very impressive man Great candid interview. WildRide - keeps getting better
I used to think I really didn't like Jon, but I actually didn't know anything about him beyond the headlines, and it turns out he's someone I'd be more than happy to call a friend. Seems like a good guy, and a great episode!
Steve O, you got a great interview from Jon Jones. I respect the podcast. I'm a stay at home dad, and this got me through doing dishes before the wife gets home today. I got to pretend I was hanging with you guys lol.
Amazing podcast, Jon Jones is truly the all time UFC great, his list of opponents is stuff of legend and he beat them all, competed at the top level, Jon Jones a once in a generation talent, the GOAT🐐👏👏👏
Love watching this fellas. Jon keep being your true self. Felt nice seeing you where your at and great job Steveo and friends for making it an awesome episode. Keep it up.
Hes the opposite to a nice dude 🤣🤣 hes a legit sociopath who manages to fool people like you, I'd say people are manipulating yee on a regular basis hahaha
Got to respect Steve-O for his honesty telling the GOAT "your fights have been boring, nobody's interested" 😅 I hope thats what he continues to do. Ask and say the things people are afraid to ask.
He still said it is what im getting at. Body language suggested to me personally he thought the same. Just used the reporters to get it off his chest. I think this because I do similar myself subconciously.
Good job Steve. This was awesome. And you both were totally tuned it. You brought up some really valuable points and I think it was good for Jon to hear another point of view from a real fan and someone that respects him. This was sick man
100% agree about respect for fighters (not bcuz I care they can whoop my ass but bcuz they dedicate their lives to this craft & risk so much to fight & it takes a lot of balls & a lot of work to do).
Both men are entertainers, but human beings at the end of the day. They’ve both achieved success at a high level, and engaged in the fun that comes with it. But they are both human and fallible at the end of the day. And publicly stating personal struggles is never easy, so for that I commend them both. The world is a better place when we utilize humility and realize there’s often a greater purpose than ourselves
Say what you want about Jones but he really did stand up for his city and stopped the craziness from spreading.. wish he was in my city the people have been causing havoc
@@earl-larsen I agree with you but man everybody fucking parties He's the champion of the world and likes to have a good time like the rest of us, look at Conor McGregor look at Mike Tyson look at anybody really who has money and fame.
Dear Jon, continue to be this guy in public! So much more laid back and real and likable!! Be humble, speak openly about how u feel about DC. Great stuff Steve-O!
'' yeah fuck your questions go ahead '' no matter how much you hate Jon jones, you gotta appreciate him for going with the flow and going with whatever the other part wants to talk about ( even though i fell like stevo-o should have seen that and should have asked further )
+ u can't even express how much I appreciate Steve-o I'm so down on myself all the time, get depressed so easily, hell, i can lie to myself and make me want to kill myself. I'm sorry to anyone who read this, but seeing someone else being so selfless makes me want to live a bit longer and be happy for other people
I love John Jones on here talking to Steve O, it is awesome for sure. They talk about shit John probably wouldn't talk about to other interviewers!! Love John to death he is so cool and badass to!! 👀👍👍👍👍
We've all made mistakes and Jon is just like all of us. This was a great interview and Steve-O having some common ground with him, made this so much better allowing JJs to open up and I always respected his fight skill, but really respect him even more as a man. I will continue to wish him the best. He's not the villian everyone makes him out to be
Such a humble dude man absolutely enjoyed this episode I never really watched anything other than him completely destroying fighters and this brought a new light to Jones to me and it was awesome dudes!!!!! 🤘
I love Steve-o, but he won’t ever come close to Rogan. Joe unreal connections and reach that makes very superior. Steve-o needs to work on not interrupting his guest and Scott
