In my opinion Jon Matteson was the perfect choice for Paul, because the whole point of let it out was to shock us when Paul finally started to sing. Jon was new to Starkid and wasn't in any musical before this, so unless you heard of him from somewhere/something else you wouldn't know what it's like to hear him sing which adds onto that shock factor. And THAT is why I don't think anyone else should play Paul.
this is SUCH a great point. I remember watching tgwdlm for the first time and being somewhat bemused yet intrigued that they seemed to have cast a non-singing actor as the lead. I nearly jumped out of my seat when he opened up with that incredible high note in Let It Out. it was the perfect buildup that had me, somehow, genuinely surprised that the lead performer in the musical was singing. they had me right where they wanted me

When Jeff premiered some of the Black Friday songs on the livestream and Jon was just singing along cause he’s been listening to Jeff write them and knows them that was like pique Jon for me
"I throw my wavy brown hair into a messy bun, dancing to the Guy Who Didnt Like Musicals soundtrack. My alcoholic mom bursts into the room. "Pack your bags". She says. "Mom! Why?" I reply. She tells me, "I sold you to pay for my drinking habit." I burst into tears and yell "Mom! How could you?" She leaves the room and I pack my things into my backpack with blurry eyes. I quickly put on some mascara and my backpack and run downstairs. I see my buyer standing by the front door. I stand at the bottom of the stairs in shock. I exclaim in surprise, "Jon Matteson?!" Honestly, stan him so hard. After seeing him in TGWDLM I absolutely love him as a human being. I often kept going looking for him in Black Friday cause all he does is just so great.
From homecoming i LOVE the moment when Brian give him the mic, and i think he´s the olnly who scream´s ¡RAVENCLAW! in the "Going back to Hogwarts" song.
Kinda off topic but I love watching Robert singing the very potter songs at homecoming, cause he was a fan before he joined them and was probably one of his dreams, it's just the cutest thing
