Said it in the chat and not ashamed to say it again - pure protein folks. I'm revisiting Campbell's The Hero Journey and noticed crossovers with JP's material discussed, the story of Horus, acceptance of shadow to evolve and transcend. The divine wisdom is available to us in all languages and in many forms yet we choose blindness. I enjoy this material so much, thumbs up for more video essays, please.

One of the comments below just recommended Jordan Peterson's video on betrayal and trust lost. Firstly, I am so glad that Richard was open to listening what Jordan Peterson was offering. He was instrumental in my journey , when I was crushed to pieces, to begin to SEE. I knew that I had been blind to the reality of my horrific betrayal and he helped me to begin to look at me. I had listened to all his University lectures before he came on to the world stage and it was sad that people were criticizing him and yet not knowing what Jordan Peterson had said. Richard, you have such a gift at greater clarification. Love it!!!!

@arikaGME
@arikaGME 3 года назад
@@estefanicastro3351 actually I was listening to the Jocko podcast where JP mentioned lunch bucket. It actually was about hierarchy, rooting out weak workers and building camaraderie among existing workers. Frankly, I can admit that I probably sit somewhere within the autism spectrum and I have been poorly socialized so I do come off awkward. I’ve had a few jobs where I honestly failed to meet the demands of a job and frankly 💯 deserved the ridicule. When someone can’t meet basic job expectations and they need to leave that workplace immediately before they damage the culture. Being fired offers a hard lesson on personal insufficiencies, but sometimes needs to be done. Expecting a team of workers to clean up after someone completely incompetent and refusing to grow is unfair to the team so in a few cases hazing is entirely justified. Many times upper management can’t remove an unfit worker without legal and HR issues so letting fellow associates turn up the pressure causes the offending worker to quit. I’ve been on the receiving end of hazing, it hurt at the time but I learned from it. I’ve also have seen when people bully and use scapegoating tactics in the workplace where I was competent at my job. I recently had to call out a team leader for smack talk behind my back, and more than one coworker confirmed it. I let him know that if I’m making mistakes or if policy changes he needed to directly confront me and not speak badly of me to our coworkers. So far, a few months later no issues and the management team is more careful what they say in front of the team. We have a few people on the team including leaders that minimally work and maximize socializing. Instead of completing their tasks they smack talk hard workers and shove off their workload onto hard workers while they laugh and badmouth them. The power imbalance and lack of transparency is why I find it unprofessional and problematic. What JP was referring to was actually more what I consider a male friendship form of ribbing each other. We see PierreXO and Richard do this with each other frequently. It’s slight teasing and testing to get a reaction, but not to cause emotional damage or humiliation. Done well it’s part of group cohesion and bonding. Being able to laugh as a group vs isolating people out is the key difference. Richard and Pierre know each other’s personal boundaries and don’t take intentionally attack sensitive areas. It’s more like sparing or wrestling, not a death match. This could be a really good topic for a video Richard. How do we use humor to bond in groups and improve cohesion? Humor does deal a lot with power dynamics in groups. How do we bring back lighthearted non-judgment to our interactions with others? I think this is the only way to stop the impending cancel culture is in restoring humor to difficult situations. How do we use odd situations and random events to bring people closer together?

They have to test them out , if you pass and can be trusted, they would always have your back. It does come across as shit testing narcs do but not for same reason. Because patriarchy, our cultural myths are almost all told from the male perspective and so reflect the male psychology better than a female psychology. (No shade on Dr. Peterson because I love his analyses and he's inspiring and helpful to many people!) From what I have read on Jungian psychology from a female perspective (Barbara Hannah's The Animus, etc) it seems like the man's psychological journey towards maturity is the inverse of a woman's journey. It's important to acknowledge this, because everyone needs inspiration to be courageous, and if women only know of male hero myths they may not even recognize their own heroism when they engage in it. Where archetypically the male hero shows his courage by leaving home, fighting, conquering, etc., the female hero shows her courage by staying in one spot and withstanding disintegration, withstanding pressure or attack, and refusing to be moved from what she knows is right. This isn't the same as the "damsel in distress" who waits to be rescued. Instead, female heroism looks like the princess who is imprisoned by an evil queen or by her evil father (father/daughter incest is a recurring theme) and who creatively uses resources in her environment to outwit her captors. She doesn't run away, she doesn't fight them with her fists. Instead of moving, running, or fighting externally, she grows, evolves, and changes internally while staying in the same physical location. She withstands rape (or the threat of rape) as well as madness and keeps her mental and physical integrity, eventually overcoming evil by refusing to be moved or controlled. In our society, this kind of feminine heroism looks like the single mom who goes to work every day and takes care of her kids against all odds. It looks like the writer who expresses herself even in the face of extreme criticism. It looks like the rape survivor who heals and continues to live her life, who maintains her ability to love. Of course men can engage in these kinds of heroic acts, just as women can engage in the kind of male hero's journey we are used to hearing about. I think the most important thing is to acknowledge that just as there is a heroism in moving, exploring, and fighting and there is ALSO a heroism in staying, holding, and growing.

JPs class discussions on religious archetypes illuminated my theory of this "just" world. Having had an anti-religious upbringing, I steered clear of the Bible and it's tiresome "fiction." Now, at 52, I see the roles I've tried and failed to play, and understand the dangers of idealized notions of virtue and evil. I'm growing up, finally, perhaps in time for my teen son to see. The universe of humanity is indeed made of stories, not atoms. Shout out to the Pinocchio lecture too!

The book WE Understanding the Psychology of Romantic Love, written by Robert A. Johnson, a Jungarian analyst, breaks down the myth of Tristan and Iseult. It’s an easy read that uses this mythological story to understand the idea of romantic love. The analysis of ancient Egyptian myths are the core of psychology. They contain so much insight into the human psyche. Thank you for bringing up this content and sharing your wisdom as well.

Omg. I read this a long time ago, and it was great. Thank you for reminding me. He (Johnson) also wrote SHE, I think, again drawing on mythology, but Greek? I was in love with a guy who didn't love me, so he gave me those books. Better than nothing, right? (And he also told me to learn Bell Bottom Blues on guitar. The high notes impossible. Clapton could really sing back in the day. "Do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you? Do you want to hear me beg you to take me back?) Shit. Well the guy maintained that romantic love is just a construct, a product of willfully immature mythology. A fairy tale. And then gave me those books to read so I might understand.

Somewhere in the video, you ask for someone to share info on Jung's view on Aeons I think...Jung actually wrote a book called 'Aion' (an alternative spelling of Aeon) all about this very subject, but where as Crowley's talks about the changing from Osiris to Horus, Jung focuses more on the change from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius - but ultimately there is a great similarity to Crowley's idea of Aeons in that both men are talking about an aeon as a period of about 2000 years and also both are talking about the Christian era (Pisces/Osiris) in a state of transformation.

I ' m no scholar or something, but just because I happen to be greek, I just realised the huge influence ancient egyptians had on ancient greek language. Horus= οραση (vision, sight) Set=σαταν (satan), etc... Also, I think that Set dismembering Osiris (besides being something internal,within the individual, like you said) it could also be a metaphor about how those in power use the old trick of divid and conquer- turning people against each other, in order to control them more efficiently

Oh my Richard . . . you got me crushin a little ha, I can't help but give major credit to anyone who gives Crowley his due and links the same thoughts to even Jung because they are connected. There are a few voices from around that same particular time that did their part in shifting consciousness to seek from a place of understanding that is the "self" and Crowley is a major one of those voices that often goes without recognition. His perspective is utterly transformative IMO and was radical for even all of his "spiritual" seeking contemporaries. I understand the concepts here a little differently than presented from my own personal experiences, though everything is metaphor, and the one being made here is very apt I gotta give Peterson some credit here this is good stuff. I think when lumping everything into the "unconscious" it is correct to do that, and well we have strata so to speak throughout the minds of man that have made the unconscious conscious to varying degrees and that is where a lot of confusion can come in. Sometimes only myth in a way can explain what lies in the unconscious to become aware of to our current minds, though at this point there is ample to pull from to give those myths a more realistic portrait in understanding in many ways in this age of technology as one example. As to metaphor, one of the most profound IMO is in the gospels of Jesus being "the temple" which was the center of spiritual and religious society in that space and making no distinction between his body physical and the outward body politic so to speak physical structure, so there is no separation really of the points Peterson is making as to societal structures and man or the inner human being in exploring these myths. OK it seems I could go off here lol you brought up so many great points for contemplation, bravo what an excellent presentation :-).

Though Richard's recommendation is a good one, though there aren't a lot out there I have a copy but had to buy it used at the time. There are some people that also do some good breakdowns of what he brought forth in his life like RIchard touched on here as to the psychology of the self i.e. occultism lol. Michael Tsarion and Thomas Sheridan are both guys that put Crowley in a more accurate light than where popular culture has placed him, link to a good article to start with (www.michaeltsarion.com/aleister-crowley.html). Sheridan is even coming out with a documentary soon on Parsons (a Crowley fanboy) and will likely include a lot of good stuff on Crowley too. Exploring Crowley I think is definitely worth the effort, cheers :-).

@@bboed4469 I was actually referring to Petersens book, but. I have feelings about Crowley, namely a little creepy. My former beloved roommate was into him, and played audio recordings and had some rare books (0.D.O?). The roommate became a heroin addict and died. I gave the books away. I couldn't understand them, had to move out, gave away a lot of stuff I wish I didn't. But I still have a little softcover one somewhere that's signed on the cover by all the members of Black Sabbath. In metallic gold ink. And there's some blood (my roommate's no doubt) on some pages. He had it in his pocket when the band was signing autographs @ tower records. I miss that kid, even if he had horrible trauma and problems, he was a sweet person, smart, funny, creative. Not his fault he was so fucked up. His insane girlfriend gave him some kinda pills she probably stole from the nursing home clients she worked for, he probably mixed it with heroin, and that was what killed him. I was in the next door apartment and never knew til after they took his dead body out the next day. But there were all these crazy notes stuck in the pages of a 5 inch thick book about magik and I think they were notes on what to do when you die.

The book "Will Power" by George Weinberg and Dianne Rowe uses Shakespeare's insights to transform your life. Stage 5 has Cleopatra's manipulativeness, the dangers of too much mystique. Sly's narcissism, Lear's blindness. Final curtain calls for nurturing souls, love, mercy and seeing things through other's eyes... I've related Sophia to healing much of this, the earth is alive, needs rainbow messaged light and nurturing but there's powers above her she's a symbol of rose with thorns, acceptance of discomfort, need to keep wits about you. Check into Askew Codex as well. Akashic records accessed on ascension is return to source info, reliance on self not other as key. Thanks for the book recommend and great info Richard. ✌️

Doing a heap of shadow work lately around releasing ancestral karma, thinking a lot about healing the lineage from here to the beginning of time ... it's kind of heavy, but seems like the way out of the patterns of perpetuated suffering. Trying to find a way to honor the ancestors (recent and distant) without repeating their tragedies, their sins, their lapses in judgment. Hope to forgive and regain respect for the ones who failed, trying not to take it personally lol. It's strange to feel responsible for that which came before, carrying their guilt and shame is a burden, feeling so long like victim, the affected. Time travel is reversing cause to be the effector of change reaching back to help them. Healing the karmic loops by stopping victimization and passivity, taking on more responsibility with courage. It's intense. Is this what growing up feels like?

A lot of good content here. Also, if I may inject a little more ofThelemic ideas into the mix, I suggest you take a brief look at the formula IAO as applies to, well, all kindsa stuff. It stands for Isis, Apophis, and Osiris, and in general relates to a natural generative state (feminine/ primordial chaos from which order emerges), as Isis. Apophis is the ultimate buzz-kill, whom I tend to equate with the asteroid that exploded above the surface of the earth at the K/T split, and wiped out the dinosaurs. Osiris is, big surprise, resurrection. This cycle is writ large on the Universe itself as well as the life and times of man. As someone who is currently on the cusp of a cataclysm as it makes some sort of rapprochement with order, this re-emergence of Osiris is greatly anticipated. How weird that the trail that began to lead out of the cataclysm of Apophis, for me, was learning about how fragile communal narcissists operate, largely from your videos. It was the explanation that helped make sense of things, that gave me a bread-crumb trail to follow out of the confusion after the discard. It put some important pieces into place and let me see the disordered order characteristic of narcissistic abuse. It isn't my whole story, but it gave me a perspective from which to navigate out of, as Peterson wold say, the underworld. Here's his synopsis, which fits my experience to a T: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZkDEq4LN-uI.html

Jung on age of Aquarius: ---- The present age must come to terms drastically with the facts as they are, with the absolute opposition that is not only tearing the world asunder politically but has planted *a schism in the human heart.* We need to *find our way back* to the original, living spirit which, because of its *ambivalence,* is also a mediator and *uniter of opposites,* an idea that preoccupied the alchemists for many centuries. If, as seems probable, the *aeon of the fishes* is ruled by the archetypal motif of the *hostile brothers,* then the approach of *the next Platonic month,* namely *Aquarius,* will constellate the problem of *the union of opposites. * It will then no longer be possible to write off *evil* as the mere privation of good; its real existence *will have to be recognized.* This problem can be solved neither by philosophy, nor by economics, nor by politics, but *only by* the *individual human* being, via *his experience of the living spirit,* whose fire descended upon Joachim, one of many, and, despite all contemporary misunderstandings, was handed onward into the future. ... Their insistence is, at bottom, *the urge of the archetype to realize itself.* ~Carl Jung; Aion; Pages 86-87.

2 more: "Around the birth of Christ, there follows the Age of Pisces. Pisces is a water sign. That is probably why we have to *look for the spirit in the water,* in life’s flow of images, and in *the unconscious.* And now we are on the threshold of the sign of Aquarius. The *air element* is assigned to it, and it is symbolized by *an angel or a human being,* instead of an animal. Here the spirit is meant *to become something subtle again,* and man to become who he is." ~Carl Jung, Children’s Dreams Seminar, Pages 354-355. “If as seems probable, the aeon of the fishes is ruled by the archetypal motif of the ‘hostile brothers,’ then the approach of the next Platonic month, namely Aquarius, will constellate the problem of the union of opposites. It will then *no longer be possible to write off evil* as a mere privatio boni; its real existence will have to be recognized." ~Liber Novus, Page 316, Footnote 275

I suspect that Jordan has not read Crowley as he has, as far as I know, never mentioned him. Peter Pan is.. those with PP syndrome do not know the power available to them in growing up.. simply for they have not seen it modelled to them (its not that simple, but for the sake of this comment it is) - ALTHOUGH there is an energtic blueprint available.. in awakening Horus within the masculine. That was beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I would love it if you read books and gave us your opinions. I know how people feel about Crowley but he really was brilliant. He was very advanced in very complex magical processes. It kind of seems to me that this would already be the Aeon of Horus. Think of Christianity and how the Son is worshipped more so that the father God and the mother is demonized. Also, this is supposedly the Age of Aquarius we are entering into but I feel we have already entered it because all technological advancements have happened in the last 150ish years. That is Aquarian not Piscean in nature. We also had a new set of religions as well, all from the Golden Dawn Adepts or Masonically trained Magicians. Thelema, Satanism, Wicca, Scientology, Theosophy and even the new age philosophy are all a new form of religions created at the turn of the century and then into the fifties. That seems to be Piscean in nature but maybe due to the themes or doctrines of the new religions maybe they could be considered Aquarian instead of Piscean. What do you think? Do you know what the current epoch or era actually is? Every astrologer seems to have a different conflicting take on it but I feel if it is measuring time based upon planetary movements it should be pretty easy to figure out yet apparently that is not so. It is a little confusing as I am not a master astrologer.
