The more I see of Peterson, the more curious I find the amount of people that think he’s a genius. He certainly is well-spoken and well-read, but so many of his arguments, conclusions and stances fall apart so quickly if you think about them for a couple of seconds…

@@seriousguy2160 and what are you if not an animal. You are certainly capable of consciously perpetrating evil deeds as a means of revenge against God/ structure of reality. I usually agree with Jordan but this time he is just rambling nonsense. Good is a reality. God is a faith. You do good because it makes you feel better about yourself

As an athiest, i believe in doing good because seeing how your good actions influence others is in itself a reward. Christians are good based on what a book tells what is good and rewards you with an afterlife and hell as a punishment. Until i am provided with enough evidencd that a god actually exists, then im happy to continue my life like that

There is NOTHING I can do to earn myself a place in heaven. I will never be worthy, I will never be perfect enough. The Bible tells us we SHOULD love God because He is our creator, and provided everything for us in this life. It is a choice to believe, a choice to live the way God commands (love God and love people). Jesus is the only way to heaven, and I believe He died on the cross for my sins with all my heart. I hope, someday, you have the opportunity to know God like I do. Blessings.

God does not reward people with heaven, rather it is given to Christians by grace. The fact that everyone has sinned or will sin eventually against God means that all of us would be headed to hell. But the good news is that God gave His son Jesus to be the lamb for humanity and take away all of our sin. Any person having already broken the moral law receives undeserved grace by trusting in Jesus because He loves us and went on the cross and suffered so that we don't have to. Of course, we can choose to reject Him but then we would have to pay for our sins ourselves. Think of it like a criminal who says to a judge, "I did murder that person but I've been a good person and I've changed and I won't do it again." If the judge were fair and just, he would say that the criminal just admitted to murder and that he deserves a punishment for the person they killed. There is no 100% way to prove the existence of God. But there is evidence for the existence of God. Big difference. If you take a look at the early writings of people that wrote about Jesus around his time, you will find that they documented Jesus' life and his actions. Josephus is a great example. There were several people outside of the Bible that documented early Christianity. Also, this isn't proof but take a look at the beauty of all things that exist. The human body is incredibly well designed and in my opinion, even though I partly believe evolution is true, I find it harder to believe that such a complex body came through millions of years of evolution from some primordial soup of gases and molecules which somehow combined together and formed eyes that turn light waves into visible images, cells that turn food and water into usable energy, and a body that can detect exactly what it needs for homeostasis. Also, I don't know your perspective or anything and I apologize in advance for making an assumption, but wouldn't "doing good actions" in your point of view be a relative statement about morality? How can you distinguish a good action from a bad one? Cheers brother, I hope I cleared some of your doubts!

@John_Carbajal okay your proof was either personal testimonies from people thousands of years ago or "just look around at the beauty of everything". God apparently loves me so much that if I don't love him back; he'll send me to a place to burn and cry forever and every till the end of time.

The bible tells us how bad we are, not how to "act" "properly". The bible tells us about those who have followed the law as best they could but inwardly had not been changed.(heart changed/changing), they are as hypocrites. We are all like them, as hypocrites without Jesus; as we all fall short. If my own actions are that of following the bible's ways, but, for the sake of following the bible's ways only,(ie; religion) but inwardly, if my sinful ways remain the same, not changed/changing, if my attitude or my desire for sin hasn't changed in all of my best attempts at following of the law and everything the bible says to do, then I would be following religion and it has no power to save and redeem me in the sight of the Holy God. So claiming to follow the religion as if it will help me get closer to God is unhelpful, it's directly harmful to God and His Kingdom. Following Jesus isn't as complicated as people believe, nor do you have to be holy or blameless for Him to love you, He already does, while we were yet sinners He died for us. We all Need the Lord, and He Himself has made a way for us to come to Him, through Jesus and His sacrifice. He imparts His righteousness upon us, a gift that He has freely given and offered to all of us. He will do the good work of changing our hearts, as it is not a work sinful man can do, or ever could do. May you see the heart behind this as I am not a man that is good with words.

@robertstewart6457 Месяц назад
@@coachjester4735 quotes from long ago may sound good and be apt but scientific proof is real and true, religion is a belief without any reality or truth. Greek gods were once believed now they are myths because humans have improved educated brains full of more reality, truth and facts. As our intelligence improves over the next centuries & millennia, more religions will be left behind as scientific facts of how our existence began become apparent. Discovered facts are easy to accept and believe. Faith and belief is for some their chosen path as the truth is uncomfortable or something they can’t accept. Hope is a strong emotion which people hand on to for going to a better place like heaven instead of simply dying and there being nothing afterwards. Scientific facts don’t ask for money but churches do. Be careful whose advice you pay for but be patient with those who supply it first free.
