“Do you claim to believe in God, but live as if He doesn’t exist?” That is beautiful. Forgive me a sinner.

I agree with him. If you are told that your house is on fire, and your response is to sit and finish your movie, you did NOT believe what you were told. True Belief WILL cause action.

Very important distinction made in this video. Peterson lives as if God exists, yet struggles with his faith. But many people are willing to make grand affirmations of faith yet live as if God does not exist. Who is on the Lord's side is not something that man is capable of knowing of another man except by their actions

It's true that men are known by their fruits but it is also true that Jesus said, "If you confess Me before men, I will confess you before My Father." No one is asking for every believer to become an evangelist but our light is supposed to be put on the table so it provides light to the entire household. Do not hide your faith. Let it shine forth in both confession and actions.

I hope that Jordan takes his "belief" a step further and not only says that he lives as if God exists, but that he tries to live as if Jesus is who He says He is. C. S. Lewis discusses this in Chapter 7 of Part 4 of Mere Christianity ("Let's Pretend"). In this Lewis says by doing so "He [Jesus] is beginning to turn you into the same kind of thing as Himself." I also believe that part of doing this is by publicly professing your faith - perhaps it's just a little bit of pride that is preventing Jordan from taking this step. Of course, only God knows what is in each person's soul.

I stumbled upon this video the day I preached out of James 2. Faith without works is dead. Crazy timing. Praise God!

Jordan acts as though God exists - You do well, the demons believe and tremble. - you shall know them by their fruits - yes, and "For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

I mean, we know he has said now that he definitely believes in God, but whether or not he believes in Jesus Christ as his personal savior and Lord, remains to be seen. As the word says, 1st Corinthians 12:3 "No man can say 'Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Spirit.' " He has not yet said that, so we cannot know that He is Christian, and Romans 10:9 also says, "If you confess with your mouth, and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, you shall be saved." If Jordan Peterson is not willing to confess faith in Jesus Christ, then it is reasonable to assume that he is not saved. Elsewhere in James 2:19 it says "The Demons believe, and tremble!"

Yes we should do both

There is an old Catholic admonition: act as if you had faith and you will have faith. Sort of like if your goal is the winning of a race, then train for it. The great saints simply went out into the desert and by the holiness of their lives, though they originally lived as helmets, they drew people to them as a magnets attracts iron filings. The opposite is true.

Continue to pray for him, Joe Rogan, Andrew Schultz, Kanye and so many more. What a profound pouring out of His Spirit we are witnessing. He is working in their lives. Hallelujah Many youths look up to these folks and He is on display 🙏

Psalm 14:1 has been used to show about the atheist that doesn’t believe but that couldn’t be farther from what this Psalm states. What it is saying is that there will be believers who will act as if “God doesn’t exist”, and by doing that they are being foolish. They do things that are clearly sinful but act as if nothing will happen, as if God didn’t exist. What Dr. Peterson states is actually avoiding the foolishness of not believing and acting accordingly. Remember as Paul says in 1 Cor. 13 “And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all FAITH, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.” To say we are saved “only” by having faith is not enough. We have to act accordingly, especially in charity.

He is basically saying same as Dr Carl Jung when he was asked similar questions. He said something in the likes of it’s not a matter of believing, “I know God exists” he said. When you KNOW you act out your convictions. It’s that simple. Many people say “ I believe in a higher power” okay who is the power? and what are the principles that connect you to this power of your belief? 😅 A power source could be of good or malicious roots. But God is ONE and He is for all that is good and of service to others, humility , modesty, love, etc. His principles are specifically laid out for all who want to seek Him. All who follow the same line of principles act alike and will be recognized as such despite of their country , culture , skin color, etc. Many people today proclaim themselves to be Christians (they celebrate Christmas, they do charity, they marry and baptized in the church, they carry crosses on their necks and know prayers by heart) but sadly the day will come when they will be told “ I do not know you”.

Jesus

Works are essential to faith, but so it is our confession, It is not one or the other that defines true faith but both. Apostle Paul wrote: "Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10). Jordan is man coming out of darkness who loves truth yet has not come to the fulness of the revelation of the truth as it is in Jesus. We must continue to pray for him. I believe because he loves truth one day he will stand up and confess faith in Jesus and belief in God publicly as he has done on so many other issues.

I think what the video purports he said is different than what he said/meant His comment doesn’t reflect on salvation but on acknowledging there’s a God Much like many of our nation’s Founders

The game changer is not as he says "words" or profession of faith only... it is not even modified behaviour... but it is a new birth.. true faith in the true Gospel comes from a spiritual metamophis, a transformation of our sinful Adamic nature from the earthly, carnal to the eternal, the spritual.. Jesus is the second Adam, the first Adam was of the earth, earthly... and a type or pattern of the spriritual...the Heavenly Adam Jesus. We must be "born again" of the Holy Spirit, otherwise we deceive ourselves... the fruit of the tree he speaks about that produces the fruit of the Spirit as it says in Galatians 5:22,23 "But the fruit of the spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control, against such things their is no law" this righteousness and life can only come from the true vine Jesus Christ...I pray for Jordan Petterson as so many others are as well.

2 Corinthians 13:5 fair enough but what About John 6:29. You realize you have to believe first before being eligible for 2 Corinthians 13:5 else it's still d same thing. I'm just certain if care is not taken this will start another stupid revolution where people aren't sure God is real but claim to live their lives as if he does. That's not even possible, can such a person practice chastity when we know certain issues are spiritual and only God can give the strength required. It's not even possible you can't live your life as if God exists without God's help and you can't attain that help without acknowledging he exists

I agree. My only problem is that if you take what he said than by his own words, he is not a Christian. Al his "supernatural" experiences telling that he "saw" the Son of Man in a weird way..... BUT he does not bring out his faith in Him... Does he feed the poor? Does he heal the sick, the broken? Does he expels the dark? NO. a fake believer speaking the truth BUT not LIVING by it.

I am quick to judge which is a fault but Peterson gives me the sense sometimes that he is an egotist as if wisdom ended with him ...he is lost in his own vanity...but I could be wrong -

To be honest, I believe Jordan Peterson actually has a much deeper faith than many Christian's... James 2:24 (“You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone").. Obviously we can't be saved by our works ofc . But we show (prove, if you will) our faith by our works.. And yes , I am not a Calvinist... You can lose your salvation.. that is scriptural also .. ✝️☦️

Profess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that He rose from the dead - Romans 10:9. If you can't do that then you aren't saved. (of course those who are mute for some reason are exempted from the strict specifics of that command)

Well, his intention is correct but, technically, he is incorrect. What he is describing isn’t “belief”, it is “Faith”. Faith is belief channeled into action informed by that belief, but belief can be merely the intellectual affirming of a fact absent the actions that belief would necessitate in order to be logically consistent. Recall “ The demons also BELIEVE , and shudder “ James 2:19 and “ Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of persons ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness. Waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of the Lord?” 2 Peter 3:11-12

A real Christian is a Christian who follows all the teachings of Christ and his Church. So you do have to be a follower of the Church, which I for one say is the Orthodox Church. Even if you don’t believe it is the One, True Church, that’s on you and for you to discover. But Christ does and must have a Church on this Earth, since He has said so Himself, and Apostle Paul, if I’m not mistaken, speaks of holding the traditions taught by them to the Churches they founded, outside of what had been written. Untill the Great Schism in 1054, the Church was one, and one must still exist, since the gates of hell cannot prevail against it.

You don’t know if Jordan Peterson believes in God? He doesn’t. If he did, he wouldn’t have any difficulty answering the question, “Do you believe in God?” Obviously he’s not saved

Instead of saying’real’ Christian, use ‘honest’ Christian. Seek sainthood.

This man is obviously not a believer in Christ Jesus so please do not get sucked into the hype and going along with his opinions friends. Jesus said that whosoever confesses His name in the presence of men, Jesus will confess their name before the angels in heaven and whosoever will not confess the name of Christ before men He will not confess their name in the presence of the angels in heaven. Real simple as Romans 10 says with the mouth confession is made and with the heart a man believeth. Keep your eyes on Christ and His word friends and God bless.

He has to actually believe the he a Christian, hope y'all aren't trying to create a religion where people aren't sure God is real but act as if he is. That's how it always starts, like a spark then boom you have LGBTQ and humans identifying as cats. It's not about set if doctrines or conforming to a set of beliefs because these doctrines come from the God we are talking about and your talking about it as if it's an ideal or a philosophical topic and at same time talking as if God's real. Very contradictory Jesus makes a doctrine, you say "hey you must not believe it to be a true follower of Jesus" (true Christian) let's all excuse Jordan Peterson to have his own ideal way of being or identifying as a Christian

Peterson is a sophist to the nth degree. Never makes sense. There are way more better commenters out there.

Pls forgive me for a worth reading lengthy comment. I deeply admire Mr Peterson but the Lord is cautioning me about my approach to him. I'm not expecting any reply to this but I beseech in the name of God that you test yourself about how should we take bro Peterson's methods. God bless him abundantly because he did demonstrate a great zeal in promoting the Bible but has not proved enough that he is a Christian who has made the RESURRECTED Jesus as his Lord and Savior A layman who openly confesses that he believes in Jesus Christ for salvation and lives a sober life preaching the gospel, giving to the poor and spreading love will have a greater reward than an intellectual like Peterson who wrestles with giving the right word from his incredible vocabulary to act AS IF GOD EXISTS, and has become a man who fears risking his reputation and work for believing straightforwardly that Jesus is his Lord. This is exactly what Apostle Paul meant when he said to the church if Corinth that God uses the foolish and weak thrings of the world to confound the wise and the strong. Peterson us creating a following that will imitate him to keep their belief a secret and never have the courage to confess Christ. Beware of the danger to be denied by the Lord before His Father and the holy angels. Peterson will honor Jesus with only plain words and not with veiled words. Remember cowards cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven but a simple woman like the Samaritan will inherit the spiritual promises and will be rewarded greatly in the coming age because she ran and publicly declared the Messiah saying He knows evrything about her. Salvation has come into his house was not for a secret believer but to Zacchaeus who declared openly. The great commission is not use the Bible for popularity but to PREACH THE GOSPEL, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers and raise the dead and preach the gospel as a testimony to the ends of the earth. I guess Jordan Peterson will confess that Jesus is his Lord and Savior only when he is persecuted enough at a gunpoint and not when someone openly asks him whether he believes Jesus is his Lord. Peterson never confessed as any apostles or servants of God did, not did he ever tell anyone that Jesus is His Lord and Savior and therefore is in danger of operating in the spirit of Satan or unconsciously contributing to the agenda of the Antichrist. What people need to make Jesus as from the truth and narrative of the Bible is that Jesus is the Lord. Sanctify Jesus in your heart as the Lord and Savior. The world doesn't need 12 rules for life. It needs the only way the truth and the life.
