But just a story - In eighth-grade my good friend and I, the school had a talent show so we were wearing hoods and just was going to break a gimmick (pre broke) acoustic guitar via New Jack IN EXTREME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING (REST IN PEACE) we were going to pretend we were playing CANNIBAL CORPSE -I WILL KILL YOU over the PA and we got shut down within the first "I WILL KILL YOU".. Probably saved me some ISS (in-school suspension lol).. but I was a big Straight Edge HxC fan in middle/high school but also LOVED Death Metal from second grade when I saw that my cousin had a Iron Maiden poster as well and I asked him because in 1992 I was in second grade but I was into some Slayer, Metallica and Megadeth. If you know who my cousin is he gave my other cousin who was a big hip hop head a dub tape with like Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse and some Deicide on it... So I remember going to Hardcore shows in 8th grade and getting shit for wearing an Obituary shirt before every bands in the scene has to have at least one member with the cause of death t-shirt in their promo photo. And I just remember having to defend mortician countless times in high school. I never thought they were boring I was a big horror movie nerd and to me it was just the perfect combination. But I always dreaded those like first days of school where you would have to say what you were into and stuff when I would say hardcore music and death metal I always get from someone, "WHAT LIKE SLIPKNOT?" NO!!! Only time I actually threatened to beat someone up in school they kept making fun of my Gorilla Biscuits hoodie this kid was a big boozer and I was very militant Straight Edge, and just got really pissed and was like being a tough guy but he got scared because I was part of the "Bikers" and we did have like a 20-person crew at one point in school that road bmx and also went to hardcore/metal shows. But I distinctly remember getting stuck hiding from the cops riding a pool in New Jersey and missing Suffocation with Morbid Angel. 😞

I listen to all kinds of other shit, select hip hop, some hardcore punk but there’s a reason my metal collection that I started in 1986 has 8k physical albums in it. As far a being to busy to do a lot of stuff I know what that feels like. I’ve been a self employed tattooer/business owner for over 20 years. It leaves very little time for other stuff. I started listening to metal a bit late at around 14, almost 15. At age 23, I still listen to it along with other shit. I didn't really wear band shirts in highschool, I started buying shirts later.

Dawg, I fully understand that there are countless bands heavier than Pantera, but I also don’t think there is anything heavier than a Pantera mosh pit. I’ve never seen anyone dump a full trash can out into the middle of the pit and light it on fire at a Cannibal show. I’ve never seen anyone have a flaming T-shirt land on their head and run around with their hair on fire at an Immolation show. I’ve never seen anyone punch themselves in the face until they bleed at a Suffocation show. This all happened the one and only time I was fortunate enough to see Pantera live in 2001. No pit has compared since 🤘
