CamColeParker yep she had a stress fracture in her tibia I believe and was in a boot after the games. I think it’s a big reason she didn’t make the AA. She lost points with small steps.
@@kevinsam3078 I always wonder if they practice that in the gym. Like they have the coach play loud noises over the music and have her do her floor routine
The number of times I've done my routine by now I could do it in a room with people screaming at me. It becomes muscle memory and I don't train nearly as much as her
I do theater and it is extremely hard to hear over applause sometimes and we rehearse so much that we just sing and dance even though we aren’t hearing the music.
I love when jordy smiles for sticking that double double.. but a second later she says to herself " bitch stop smiling. Concentrate" ans she puts that serious face lol.. go jordyn!
it's extremely hard to do it. and It was perfectly done. I think she should have gotten a 16.00 for this floor, It was so good that night. McKayla her vault should have been given A 16.4 or 16.5. so We still won but we had At least 2 routines that I would have scored higher. but jordyn Wieber is amazing!
This is my favorite floor exercise routine ever. The song fitted the choreography well, unlike most routines, and the "artistic" parts of it (the dancing) wasn't awkward, also unlike most routines. I always cringe when I watch gymnasts dance in their floor routines.
She could've got a medal with this routine in event final, too bad it didn't happen. But still, the very best floor exercise of her career. Just like McKayla's vault.
sorry, but if you want to find the best gymnast in the world it doesn't make sense to eliminate the person who qualified 4th. eliminate 2-per-country, eliminate tie-breaking
+Adelina Khasanova Gymnast from other countries also deserve to participate. This allows to show the diversity of gymnastic styles. Otherwise it will only be about the highly difficult (but lacking artistry) routines of the Americans. They can have a fierce competition among them in the Nationals as well as in quals and be able to show themselves in the team competition at the Olympics. We want to see diversity!
+oulart ok but if u dont have the difficulty you shouldnt be in the finals??? Like having 3 americans wouldnt stop the best from other countries too, it would just kick out some of the lesser atheletes that shouldnt even be in the all around
It would. Everybody was astounded when in Sidney 2000 all the medals of the AA were for the Romanians (This of course before the doping scandal). This is in part the reason why only two gymnasts are allowed now. For the Olympics everybody upgrades, therefore everybody deserves to be on that spot. I do agree with eliminating the tie-braking rule, that one is ridiculous!
the two country rule is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. Take away the chance from someone who has worked hard all of their life and is one of the best in the world because of where they're FROM?
that's why i think it should be 3 per country. That way if three gymnasts from one country really deserve to medal, they are going to medal 1-2-3, and there will still be diversity (maybe not on the podium but still). other countries need to push themselves and stop relying on the 2 per country to get medals.
When I see her performance's when she was 12 13 years, I feel that it reached its peak too early, and in London was already decadent. I'm a big fan of her, these olympics didn't represent her true potential...
+Morgan St I got really sad with her retirement, I cried with her in London and I couldn't believe that she was the first Fierce Five gymnast to retire...
So sad she won't make a run for Rio. But it's the toughest sport in the world, so a come back is all uphill. Still in awe of her gymnastics - her talent, tenacity and the grace she showed in London. Rules in the Olympics (2 per country) and NCAA (pro can't compete) have kept one of the sports finest athletes on the sidelines to the dismay of her many fans. I'll always be proud to have lost my voice as a result of Wieber Fever!
This routine is the routine that made me fall in love with the sport of gymnastics! In fact, I used her floor music my freshman year of high school because of it :D
The moment she stuck that double double cold I knew this was going to be a routine for the ages - and it was. She was *on fire* that night. Still one of my all-time favorite floor routines ever.
She is such a class act. This routine gives me goose bumps, as I can't imagine what it's like to be taking from your lowest low, and have the floor routine of your life. Love her, such a role model.
+Chanel Oberlin seems your jealous of a black girl rocking the house to the fullest! She was very clean in the team finals and the AA. SHE GAVE NOTHING AWAY!
This is a floor routine for the ages! And what a testament to her character that she could pull this out after the disappointment from qualifications. An exceptional human being!
She is unbelievable! 9 years later and I'm still saying...WOW! For me the adrenaline begins after the announcer announces the gymnast name and then says...."representing the United States of America"!... LOVE those words! ....then to have an epic performance like this one. How awesome!
Jordyn’s mental strength during these games is an inspiration to me. She overcame disappointment and forged ahead with determination and team spirit. There was nothing more she could have done. A real winner.
In retrospect, what Wieber was able to do after the disappointment of not qualifying for the AA and putting it together for Team USA was incredible. She really had the spirit of a true champion. Also, that arena was LOUD and totally blowing up for her FX.
this routine was just night and day from her routine in prelims, I think this time the excitement and adrenaline were on her side and she really seemed to be enjoying herself.
I come back to this moment time and time again. This was such a redemptive performance by Wieber, and just to see her smile after nailing that first pass was so, so incredible.
Not only was her performance in the team final of the 2012 Olympics amazing, she also happens to be 2011 All Around World Champion..and what have you accomplished?
eh i mean no one really scored higher than an 9.0 in execution on floor throughout the entire olympics besides aly who stuck 3 out of her 4 tumbling passes and actually completed her split leap 1.5 unlike jordyn. so i wouldn't exactly say she was underscored on floor, she was however definitely underscored on beam.
Tbh the reason i love this is like...you can see that she really did feel the music in her dance and got into the performance of it, not just the technical elements. Like....thats honestly what really seals an iconic floor for me vs just a good or great one. Its sort of how Podkopayeva did her 96 gold medal floors
I love watching Jordan’s FX with that awesome stuck DD first pass. I think that she was robbed of the opportunity for AA during qualifications but I feel that the 2 for 2 should be changed to automatically include the World Champion if she (from whatever country) ends up in the top 10 during Olympic qualifying. Meaning there’s a possibility of 3 for that 1 country, but only if she’s the reigning world champ.
Yeah they definitely have to tweak that kind of thing going forward. It’s just not fair and doesn’t always equal the best going against the best, like it should be. So many opportunities and areas to change things for the positive if they just think rationally and not how they usually do.
Jordyn was a really well-rounded gymnast, but I find it weird that some of her basics are really bad. For example, her back handsprings are always crooked, she never could go in a straight line. And when she dismounted off of the beam, she would end up heavily to one side. I wonder if she was deducted for them or if they were overlooked.
This girl was so underscored throughout the entire olympics! Harshly scored in qualifications. And a full point in deductions on this floor routine? Come on, that was flawless! Jordyn is the aa champion in my eyes.
Guys you all should remember that they were only 15 and 16 during London so technically would be considered sex with a minor below the age of 18. Granted age of consent is 16 in most of the states but that sometimes doesn't always work. In my opinion yes Jordyn may be the most of attractive of the five now in terms of athleticism that would be a tie between Gabby and Mckayla. As a team all five girls are downright amazingly good. Hence the reason they were dubbed the new Fab Five. I myself before sophomore year of high school thought gymnastics as not really worth watching. After seeing my former classmates practices and the London games I have become of fan of the sport for sure
It’s really a shame that Jordyn isn’t really remembered as one of the US legends. She was absolutely on fire leading up to the Olympics but got that leg injury that threw her off just enough. And then immediately after, Simone comes along and just completely blows everyone out of the water.
Niamh Ziegenfuss right? That looked kinda major to me - her leg kinda collapsed under her and she got no height - was she supposed to have done a Gogean?
She was from my hometown and it’s crazy that one of my first memories is going to the airport to she her come back from this. We also got a rig from her of Facebook marketplace and I was so happy that every time someone came over I would say “ this rug is from Jordan Webber”
This is my all time favorite routine of any event or gymnast. She got so cheated. There shouldn't be a two athlete per country rule. It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.
The routine was awesome but the gogean was a MESS just like in all of her other routines. The fault for that was from Geddert. WTF it never worked for her.
Not really. Gabby competed every event in team finals and scored higher than jordyn on each one. Even if Jordyn made the all around, she wouldn't have beaten Gabby or Komova because of their better bar routines and the fact that the judges actually gave them their connections on beam.
Well they had this STUPIDDDD ruling where only 2 people from each country can compete in the All arounds ... Gabby and Aly had the highest scores for US soo they got to compete. if they didnt have this rule Jordyn would definitely be in the AA :)
I like her but I think mckayla would've been better cuz of her dance. But I'm not critisizing at all she's great. Though if she does try for Rio is like to see her sure up her dance and ditch that 2.5
I can't believe she got a low score for this...this was perfect, it's what won her the world championship. I swear some of those judges were blind at the time...
She got gyped, I was pissed when they announced she would not make it to the all around last year, Jordyn was the best, Raisman was overscored and Jordyn was underscored and Jordyn had beauty and art in her dancing, Raisman only had technicality but no artistic moves it was just jumping and making sure she didn't over step her lines
Jordyn had mistakes on 3 events. She went OOB on VT, form break on UB and missed connections on BB plus a big balance check. I love Jordyn but I'm sick of people ragging on Aly.
I’m sure Tweddle appreciated that show of support but at some point, cheering becomes disrespectful, particularly doing a floor routine. That went on for far too long and was way too loud.
