Masvidal is legit he had a short absolute peak after grinding for years but for a year or two he was legit one of the best strikers and well rounded. I think he partied a lot for most of career and got fully disciplined with just a year or two of his athleticism left
He got lucky. He was fighting a guy who had no business going all the way down to 170 and beat some guys with a name who were past their prime. He's the Anthony Smith of the 170 lb division
Just watching this after UFC 282. Till lost this fight but this version of him at times looks capable of winning high level match ups. Looked really good and sharp to begin with before it all went bad. Jorge really took a piece of Darren’s soul in this fight. He hasn’t ever really recovered from this.
I like how Masvidal made the adjustment by throwing more kicks and takedowns to stop Till from swarming him, where Till was having the most success. In the 2nd half of the fight, Till let off the pressure and gave Masvidal space, that's where Masvidal started catching him. Great gameplan, fight iq, and execution by Masvidal.
I agree but Till also kept closing the distance to much with wide left hooks when he should have stayed jabbing and shooting the quick left straight which was rocking masvidal.
I feel like at this time Darren Till never took a step back. And Jorge Masvidal made the adjustment and made him pay with a KO. I remember seeing this live and I couldn’t believe it. Till was a destroyer minus the beat down from one of the P4P top guys in Woodley at that time.
I like how he just kept battering him after he was already fully asleep lmao sounded like a firework going off when Tills head bounced off the canvas yet Masvidal still kept swinging lol
This fight made me a fan of Jorge. Obviously he’s fallen off a bunch since, but he was sharp af for this fight. The thing I love most about his style is the snappy body kicks, those look savage
Gotta love Jorge, he came form the streets, an original backyard brawler. Fought for a long time successfully in UFC before they started to really push him. He was game and he knew how to grind. He also knew when it was time to stop, and looks like he set himself up nicely for his retirement. Well done to him 👏
Honestly...Till wasn't the same since that fight, he was so driven, and Masvidal derailed that ambition. Also, Till was so fast, like you are playing video on 1.25 speed. Masvidal did an incredible recovery after nearly getting ko'd
This is when Masvidal still had a spring in his step, great ground defense, and explosive. I think the fame from the flying knee knockout and but mostly age got to him a bit. you cant beat father time thats for sure.
Till looked like an absolute tank here, he looked atleast a weight class above Jorge, that said it's weird how he never used his physicality and sheer size at WW, he would have been great if his wrestling was there, with that size and strength advantage he would have ragdolled a lot of guys
Masvidal was out of MMA for 18 months doing some soul searching after his loss to wonderboy, he came back to fight Daren til and it was a start to a good run that put him back on the map and made him some good $
Man, if you actually take the time to watch this over and over again, this is such a sneaky and hig level entry into that left hook. That stutter step when he throws that lead right made Darren think he was bringing that leg behind it, like a possible head kick. Then that leaping left hook comes instead, and... bam. Lights out. Just beautiful.
I remember watching this live. Sitting with my dad watching it. Starts out with a hilarious nut shot and Darren dropping Jorge. I’m all excited. Darren starts getting clipped more and more and my anxiety starts building. He got KO’ed and I remember not being able to pick my jaw up off the floor. The sound of his head hitting the octagon was really scary. It was a genuinely concerning KO to go along with how shocking it was.
This is my favourite KO to watch in slow mo, masvidal lands a huge left hook, then hits him again as he's falling flat on his back, then hits him again and bounces his head of the ground like a basketball I know people love to hate on masvidal these days but this and the askren finishes are legend (wait for it) dairy
Masvidal really came back with a vengeance from that Spanish show named “exatlon” where he was away at an Island for 6 months with zero social media. He was sharp and powerful here
@@bigsmall2842 nobody really beat him on the feet even masvidal’s punch was an desperation punch counter. His stand up is solid he just needs better gnp or a solid submission catching ability
The Woodley fight is often looked at the one that stopped Till in his tracks and lead him down to the career he’s now having, but I completely disagree. This knockout finished Darren and shot his confidence to bits
I was there at the fight, atmosphere was dope so many true MMA fans there was dope, but when till get flattened the whole arena went silent was maddddd 😅😅
A love that solid 2 seconds between darren being unconcious in the air and marc goddard realizing that he's out and rushing to save him Such a brutal knockout man
the level of masvidal at that time was impressive, at first glance it can be seen that darren till was much bigger than him, And then that K.O of the best of masvidal
those body kicks from mas were gorgeous. the askren till diaz wins didnt age well, but what does. still impressive to ko a big bloke and mas is a fun striker to watch w the riggt matchups. colby fight looked bad like max's last fite. chging of the guard
@@fanboy4289 He lost to the former Welterweight Champ and to Colby. I strongly disagree. Tbh he is still the 2nd biggest draw. He's not washed. You are entitled to your own opinion.
The finishing punch really needs to be studied more by mma coaches. What he essentially did is a Jack Dempsey drop step but he doubled up on the footwork by doing the drop step twice he generated an unbelievable amount of force in his punch. The secret to the power is all in the footwork.
this is the way what i expect from ufc fights.. ppl exchange punch and stand up fight not some wrestling bullshit for 3 mins straight.. and feel free to call me casual
Wrong he was slowly declining towards the end and Masvidal was landing the better short in the 2nd half the fight. Don't be delusional and watch the fight.
Jorge took tills soul that night in London o2 arena infront of a home crowd sending him deep into the shadow realm Darren ain’t been the same since. #scousersdogetknockedout
