Shelley Winters & Sammy Davis Jr. plus countless other huge talents appear and the entire show is filmed on a stage in front of a live audience. It's hilarious, still makes me laugh out loud...then you pop up with "if he sang the phonebook" I cracked up. Thought you'd wanna know that 😊
Yeah, if I had the $$$ I'd produce it. To me he's the greatest virtuoso guitarist in popular music. I wonder what Bill Withers thought of this rendition.
This is possibly one of the best treasures of live music ever conserved. Someone should take this recording and clean up the noise a bit... but man... Jose is UNBELIEVABLE!!! So much soul! Just incredible! WOW!
He's received plenty of acclaim, but I still think Feliciano is underrated. GREAT guitarist, terrific singer, an artist inventive and improvisational like nobody's business. This cat's got music in his bones and running through his veins, through and through. Have loved him for 40-plus years.
Recognized as one of world's best or popularity contest approved or not, this guy has guitar skill talents beyond norm when comes to playing guitar. I rarely enjoy covers but always enjoy his! I'm thankful my mom introduced me to his music and will be ever grateful even though I mostly lean towards blues and rock for most favored personal listening preferences, Jose's talent rocks for me always.
Between this and Stevie's version with Bill Withers sitting right next to him, can't go wrong, having these monsters do renditions of your song RIP Mr. Withers.

I have a signature model of an acoustic of his my grandmother got for me about 7 or 8 years ago. Buckethead is the main reason I started to play about two years ago, but now that I hear him, i am so happy I kept the guitar.

Jose' Feliciano's added SAMBA beat and fine musicianship not only marked an amazing masterpiece in a different style, but further complimented an already gold record hit song, originally written and sang by Bill Withers in his 1971 album, Just a I am. The original emotion set forth from Withers must be noted in his song as it was a world-wide sensation! The song has been covered hundreds of times by many famous musicians.
Brilliant - love his percussive beats on that guitar - I would have had to raise my hands up to the sky as well. God I love this artist - soulful, breathtaking sound, exquisite musical interpretations. Brings back my youth.

This guy is simply the very BEST singer/guitarist of my generation. As for his National Anthem rendition- what the hell did people expect? Robert Goulet? He has performed his N.A. rendition since then to great applause. The man is true to himself, his ancestory and to God.
