A great video! Any concerning member (that's not active for obvious reason in this video) really should contact their leaders and demand an apology from the leaders of the church to apologize for not mentioning the "stone in the hat" before they left the church in disgust. Because just about every member were never told about the "stone in the hat". I WAS ALWAYS JOSEPH LOOKING AT THE PLATES TO TRANSCRIBE! ALL THE IMAGES IN ALL OF THE LIBRARIES THROUGH OUT THE WHOLE CHURCH DISPLAYED ONLY "JOSEPH LOOKING WITH THE PLATES BEFORE HIM LAYING ON A TABLE! Even the primary children were taught in this way. And those children are partly physiologically damaged and emotionally troubled because of this, especially if they grow up religious.

I wonder why none of the modern prophets, seers and revelators have used any of Joseph smith's seer stones to further God's work? But, perhaps God doesn't want them to do any prophesying, seeing or revelating for Him?

As far as the fraud theories kind of interesting that some of his practices were also done by Shaman and other Natives long before the these people were here... The are many similar legends and now stories are coming to light revealing the pyramids hidden underground all over the world... If only the mob had been prevented from killing Joseph and making him a martyr, he could have been tried and sentenced like anyone else, and the whole movement probably would have fizzled out. Maybe even in spite of of the struggle and hardship that had already bonded them all. This whole strange tale might by now have been just a long-forgotten artifact of early American history.

Huffdaddy You maybe right that anyone that is fooled by magic is a sucker. But let’s looker deeper. Using your logic of indoctrination or being fooled by magic and conmen you’re basically saying everyone that pays taxes deserves to pay taxes cause they’re the suckers. Rich people write the laws so it always benefits them. If you think about it when fdr lied to the people and was a conman he stole everyone’s gold. The conmen created a banking cartel. Still to this day most people think the federal reserve is part of the federal government. They don’t know the federal reserve pays a 6% dividend and is privately owned. My big thing is maybe Joseph was a conman. That’s a possibility. But then I ask wtfz mess with religion when you literally can make millions being a conman for the government and do insider trading. If Joseph really was a conman and he scammed people by using his hat and reciting words he must have a super smart memory. I couldn’t recall vast amounts of a story to recite day after day. But like if a person could do that and they’re a conman like why didn’t he just join the club aka the government which is the mafia in a suit and tie. It’s like look at the magic and conmenship the US did to invade the Middle East and overthrow iraq and never finding WMD. Gerald celente says a honest review of events was Lybia and iraq wanted to sell oil in gold or euros so the U.S. overthrew them so oil is sold in dollars. Like that’s amazing work of conman. Like do you know if Joseph had an eidetic memory? The guy had to have been super smart but then it’s like if you’re that good why not just join the government? That or why not con other rich men and the government. Look at Epstein’s story as a conman. He had dirt on the government which is probably why he was either killed or moved but was allegedly dead. Like Epstein’s wife being in prison and not in witness protection for her testimony just shows there’s two sets of laws or conmen running things behind the scenes. I think I heard Joseph ran for office but it’s like a good conman would get in office and work it over time. Look at Lincoln. He got in and was like we must murder others. It’s like so bad. People assumed they had to have a civil war which wasn’t a civil war since the south wanted to not control the north. Today they’re saying civil war may happen and it’s like what a lie. There’s the possibility that states just secede and start countries peacefully.
@koltoncrane3099
@koltoncrane3099 11 месяцев назад
Huffdaddy I forgot to say you mention only Mormons that know of the magic deserves to lose their time and money. Do you not realize the Bible and Christianity and Judaism and also have magic? Do you not remember Moses turned his stick into a snake? Moses also used his stick to find water or make water come from a rock. That is eerily close to dowsing basically. Oh ya remember the magic that Jacob did? The dude that married two sisters! He worked for his father in law saying like give me your spotted calves as payment so the next year there’s a lot of spotted calves. Then the payment was stripped cows or whatever and MAGICALLY there were stripped calves. Like that’s another example of magic in the Bible by two major religions believing in it. Let’s not forget that that god also killed judahs sons for not knocking up their sister in law. Then judah knocked up his daughter in law. Like that’s maybe not magic or occult but a religion that promotes knocking up your sister in law or you’ll die is like weirder then most things Mormon I’ve read about.

"What is the cost of lies? It's not that we will mistake them for the truth. The real danger is that if we hear enough lies, than we will no longer recognize the truth at all, when the truth offends, we lie and we lie until we can no longer remember it is even there. But it is still there. Every lie we tell incurs a debt to the truth and sooner or later, that debt is paid.” This is a quote from Chernobyl. I feel it accurately describes the current church.

Hello Dan, I have been following your work for years. I just want to say thank you for all the meticulous research and references you present. It has been remarkably helpful for me in my own journey. I left the church nearly 15 years ago - after years of research and sincere study to understand the truth about it. Your work has helped me find more of an historical context and make peace with an organization I felt had exploited me (and all its members). Your work has helped me understand the church's history as historical phenomenon rather than blame the members for participating in the charade. I've done a lot of personal work to make sense of religion and have come to appreciate its role in the human narrative of adaptation, rather than just condemning it as just exploitation. Understanding the historical context has helped me let go of a lot of the resentment I felt for the church and can look at these institutions as a very flawed adaptations through circumstances I can't begin to imagine. Anyway - thank you for the honest labor. I deeply respect the fact that you avoid indulging in condemnation of the church and simply present the information accurately. It has helped me avoid the trap of commiseration so many scholars resort to.

That area is dominated by glacial till and hills that were deposited as the last glaciation retreated. They're called drumlins. It seems that these were often confused with mounds that were built by ancient Native Americans. This is part of Mormonism's origins. Native American mounds were often plundered, with artifacts found. Joe Smith's "bible hill," or Hill Cummorah, was a simple glacial drumlin. There was nothing in it but a confusion of rocks and stones. The "golden Plates" were a total fabrication of Joe's fertile imagination.

When I was still a TBM, I had read about old Scotsmen (and women) who were village "seers", meaning they were known in their area to possess the "gift of the second sight" which is natural psychic ability. Therefore when the missionaries came to our house to teach us about the stone in the hat (so we wouldn't be shocked when we encountered it in the media), I wasn't terribly surprised and even had a vague flashback of reading it in an old LDS book many years ago. What eventually turned me against Joseph Smith was not the seerstone but the many facts I found about his lying, scamming, plundering, counterfeiting and other criminal activities. Then I realized That Joseph did not have the rare psychic gift, but had scammed people.

Such a good video. I learned a ton of little things I did not know before. I obviously knew about the lost 116 pages, but I had never thought about it being evidence for a "tight" translation. The way the book was translated should have yielded a perfect book, which is what Joe and GOD HIMSELF said it was. Yet here we are, nearly 4000 changes later. So weird the church makes changes to the most correct book, translated by the magic rock, yet they claim no revelation to make the changes. Really what they are saying is they are better at writing a book than God.

Great info. I enjoy your videos. Gives me goose bumps to know I wasn't crazy after all. Great composition of history. When you peel back the layers of Mormon history, one by one, you finally reach that last layer, Where Joseph Smith claims God choose him. The one Bitter Pill for me in the church is the nature of God. The God of Religion gives Testimonies to the LDS, Jehovah's Witnesses, Catholics, Evangelicals, Lutherans, Baptists, Cults and many others. He then watches each group bash with each other over dogma. Seems like God Loves a good controversy but hates his own creation. Remember, he drowned all but 8 in his bathtub. He also threatened Emma with destruction if she didn't give in to Polygamy And Joseph with a Flaming Sword! What does this God Love? He creates Wars, rumors of wars, religious wars, dogma bashing, He loves a good fight. What does he get out of it? your obedience. He was especially pleased with the Israelite's when they slaughtered the inhabitants of Jericho. That's what God loves, he doesn't love us. This is Joseph Smiths God. Joseph's God: Then with that enmity I will take the treasure of the Earth, and with Gold and Silver I will buy up armies and navies , false priests who oppress, and Tyrants who destroy, and reign with blood and horror on the Earth! It appears Joseph Smith's God is doing exactly what he intended to accomplish, discord and malcontent all over the Earth, wars and rumors of wars! Much if it religiously motivated. To those who firmly believe the LDS church is infallible: From the scriptures I'm assured that the God who gave you a Testimony is not the God of Love but of confusion. Attempting to tease out a God of Love from all of that tyranny found in the Scriptures (especially the OT) Doesn't make him a better God. In the end, you find as many problems with the Bible as you do with Mormon History. In the end, the ONLY thing holding it all together is your Testimony. Come out of the darkness and see the light!

@@cindywoodbury385 I don't blame anyone or any entity for the worlds woes. I blame Humans for being so taken in by their own fears and conscripted to their perceived destiny. Belief grounded in fear eventually victimizes others at the exclusion of morality and better judgment. Religions founded upon fear of the unknown or cast vitriol at non-believers is all based on conditional love (if you believe, we will love you). The only escape from fear based realities is to love unconditionally. To have compassion to your fellow Humans, to have empathy for the lowliest of peoples is to understand and know God. We choose to come to this world to experience fear. We are not sent here by God to judge us of our choices (which is grounded in fear based belief systems). God is Unconditional Love. This is how you can see what is of God and what is of Man. Man is conditional, God is unconditional. The Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood is a contract for men by men. God has nothing to do with it. Same with the Temple ordinances. These are contracts for men by men. God has nothing to do with these made up concepts. The cold hearted God I speak of comes from the mind and heart of a fear based society, bent on projecting their fear porn. The world is tightening up battle lines and the only way to overcome this end game is Love, not contractual or conditional love. Look up "Mass Formation Psychosis" for a framework of what is happening in the world and a primary key to the Mormon Mind. Christ said "Love thy Neighbor as thyself". Love is the Gospel of Christ. Religion is the Gospel of Man.

Do something honest, just because it's the right thing to do, but know this: the voices of prophets anciently and currently have all foretold the coming famines, earthquakes, wars and scourges that will be poured out upon the Earth's inhabitants. Dan, I appreciate your work. QuestionS: 1. Joseph Smith claimed that the seer stone glowed in the dark, right? (this is according to witnesses as well?) 2. Were there any other books, literature, or information (BIBLICAL LORE?) which mentioned 'glowing stones' available to Joseph Smith in the 1800s? . I noticed that additional to his seer stone glowing Joseph Smith put "glowing stone" references in The Book of Mormon (1. The book of Ether, the brother of Jared had the Lord touch stones and make them glow for a light in their "barges", and 2. In earlier editions of the Doctrine and Covenants (before 1981), the code-word Gazelam was used to denote the prophet Joseph Smith (D&C 78:9; 82:11; 104:26, 43). He is apparently the “servant Gazelem” to whom Alma 37:23-25 refers. ) and in the Joseph Smith Translation of the bible (the JST), Noah had a glowing stone on the ark (Genesis 6?) which I have learned recently actually comes from Jewish kabbalah mysticism tradition. . Did Joseph Smith have access to these and/ or other sources which mention glowing stones, or anything along those lines? Thank you!

As for Christianity, if you believe in it, the only Apostolic church I can trace without interruption/schism is the Greek/Russian Orthodox. First Rome, Second Constantinople, Third Moscow. The Catholics got derailed with all of their messes in the Middle Ages, but it seems that the Orthodox Christians have kept the faith - forget about the Protestants. Its amazing that Dan is willing to share his hard work and research with us all. I do have one question. Didn't JS use the peepstone to translate the BoA? Vogel mentioned that JS didn't use the stone anymore after the BoM so there is more to the story than I understand.
@Rypaul5217

as far as we know Joseph Smith stopped using the rock after the printing of his Book of Mormon, but later in 1835 -42 he claimed to have translated the BoA with his own wits.

Rypaul5217 JS used a rock to look for gold when his bank was failing. Wilford Woodruff claims that JS used a rock to translate the BoA.
@Rypaul5217
@Rypaul5217 7 лет назад
+Kent... honestly I cannot say if Wilford Woodruff was there while Smith was doing the translation of the BoA, perhaps he just assumed that Joseph used a rock..which could very well be possible. from what I know however there were only two scribes helping Smith with the BoA... W. W. Phelps and Oliver Cowdery were present and they never mentioned Smith using any sort of stone....and there is no mention of using a stone in the Kirtland papers themselves either. I also checked on LDS.org, about the translation of the Book of Abr. and there is no mention Smith using any rock during the process there too. I also checked to see if Fair.mormon mentions anything and they said Wilford's two brief mentions were rather second-hand information, and "speculation". they did not confirm it as being anything relevant, but put it out on the plate anyway. (as a weak testimony) so I have to dismiss Woodruff as mere hear say or just some embellishment. I read the quote myself and by its promoting like prose I find it rather vague at best, and it does sound like just some embellishments. "The Lord is blessing Joseph with power to reveal the mysteries of the kingdom of God; to translate through the Urim and Thummim ancient records and hieroglyphics old as Abraham or Adam which caused our hearts to burn within us while we behold their glorious truths opened unto us." W. Woodford but this has to be incorrect, because the U&T were taken away from Smith ever since Martin Harris lost the first 115 pages of the book of Mormon manuscript, the urim and thummim according to Joseph Smith were taken away by the messenger. and that was why Smith said he had to use his round brown seer rock instead, to finish the work. as far as Smith looking for Gold with his rock when his bank was failing, I never heard of that one. do you have the source?
@KTPurdy
@KTPurdy 7 лет назад
Rypaul5217 JS had at least two seer stones. WW states that he saw JS's white stone. I do wonder if this white stone was used to translate the papyrus. If so, he should have ditched it for the dark one. JS "translated" the BoM far quicker than the papyrus. There were four scribes involved in the BoA project, including Warren Parrish. Parrish gave WW a tour of the BoA project showing him the mummies, papyrus, and KEP. Because he received his information first hand from Warren, who was there, it's safe to say that WW was as knowledgeable as anyone on the topic. As far as treasure hunting while in Kirtland, you're right I wasn't able to verify that JS used a stone to look for it "A brother in the church, by the name of Burgess, had come to Kirtland and stated that a large amount of money had been secreted in a cellar of a certain house in Salem, Massachusetts.... We saw the brother Burgess, but Don Carlos Smith told us with regard to the hidden treasure. His statement was credited by the brethren, and steps were taken to try and secure the treasure" It's quite possible that after his glass looking conviction that JS promised to never do it again as part of his plea deal.
@Rypaul5217
@Rypaul5217 7 лет назад
+Kent Purdy "it's safe to say that WW was as knowledgeable as anyone on the topic." you have yet to prove this. And this appears just to be your own opinion. Respectfully speaking, I am not interested in your opinion, or in embellished hearsay from second hand posting, I am only interested in verifiable facts. "WW states that he saw JS's white stone." I have no doubt that WW said lots of things during his life time... this is not necessary to bring to the table because...seeing someone with a white stone proves nothing about which stone or when he saw such a stone, has any relationship to the BofA issue. for instance, I can point to a Japanese samurai sword all day long but that doesn't mean that King Author's Excalibur story about a sword in the stone is authentic. The two objects of our investigation are completely unrelated to each other. yet there is no doubt some similarity about swords in general. yeah I already know that Smith used a brown and white stone, these were hardly the urim and thummim though, if this is what you were implying but whether or not he had a couple of stones in his pocket. is not the issue here, but rather if he used rocks in the translation of his book of Abraham literature. but I can see why the Mormons need J Smith to be using such stones, because they want to imply a more spiritual process instead of a literal translation of the papyri. So far the use of any rock by Smith is simply missing from the words of those scribes in the Kirtland journal or anywhere else ...with only WW as your primary source? very thin ice at best I would think, since we know that Joseph Smith claimed that the messenger took the U&T interpreters from him when Harris lost the first 115 pages of his storybook novel. I therefore have to dismiss WW word for it against Joseph's. "As far as treasure hunting while in Kirtland, you're right I wasn't able to verify that JS used a stone..." Thank You.

The seer stone is interesting. A great video would be you comparing the smiths seer stone with the seers in some South American tribes or the oracle from Delphi and other ancient accounts. You probably could go to South America or find information about the tribe still training some to be seers for the tribe.
@koltoncrane3099
@koltoncrane3099 Год назад
The CIA also paid 20 Million for remote viewing programs. Technically some could see into the past or future so you could say they were seers. Ya it was shut down but ya can’t deny the results like finding a downed airplane in africa by a woman sitting in California. And the whole academic quantum entanglement thing how different particles can be like conscious and the light slits or was it electrons moving. They moved differently when observed. The act of observing influenced reality. Maybe seeing the past or future isn’t absurd if science is saying particles can be conscious and entangled and we basically know nothing as a species.

He’s right that some people are frauds. If you get paid for sure be skeptical. But there’s modern day examples of dowers finding things. Louis matacia from Texas, now in a retirement home, he was hired by the military and taught tons of people to dowse. It’s one thing to scam people to find treasure, but if a soldier finds a tunnel or bomb the results should make some think hmm there are results. Can’t explain them is no reason to say it’s pseudo science. Scientists can’t explain quantum entanglement or experiments looking at particles that seem to be conscious as they change behavior when observed. There’s tons of pseudo science with results but only some are considered mainstream. But from a logical perspective WTF wouldn’t people base payment on commission? Like a lot of modern day dowsers may charge an hourly fee or whatever to map dowse but then they’ll go out into the field with the customer and find oil or whatever and may get a royalty or percentage. Doing percentages of the find is way more rational. It’s what lawyers do. A lot of lawyers drum up a ton of business and those cases that win they get a percentage.
@koltoncrane3099
@koltoncrane3099 Год назад
That’s interesting he used stakes in the ground around the treasure spot. Do you have a source for this? I’ve seen modern day treasure hunters say they use stakes in the ground. Some use some radiation techniques or something with uranium and the use satellites. Maybe it’s all fake, but the technique is used today.

Joseph Smith may have had gifts that allowed him to see more than most people. Or, he may have just been a good story teller. In either case, the stories are full of contradiction. He inspired many people. This is undeniable. I have read The Book of Mormon many times. There was a time when it fit into my paradigm of authority and righteousness. I no longer have any use for it. Its “truths” no longer represent who I am. Even if Joseph Smith received divine inspiration, there is no way that any God of mankind would have made this the only truth and authority on the planet. It’s too confusing and incomplete. What is this “fullness of the gospel” that is spoken of? Can anyone tell me?

The fulness of the Gospel is faith in Christ and receiving him as well as having the gifts of the Holy Ghost, miracles, prophecies and revelations. Historically anyone or any group of people can receive that, an institution is not needed for that, even in the BOM there are times when people had the fulness without any organizes church in existence.
