Much respect to Clottey! Why cant fighters be humble like him and Cotto. Too many arrogant fighters these days and they get what they deserve. Some ass whopping 😂
But when i learned the complete story of clottey i felt really sad for this man. His manager was a dick. His manager grabbed more than what clottey wanted in the match. So when he realized that a fist fight with manny will cause a lot of damage he instead defended so that he will not pay too much for the possible medical bill. Clottey would have given a more enjoyable match (not that he will win; he might have got knocked down at least once) if not because of some dickhead using him as a cash mule. Poor clottey. :(
I actually think that Clottey provided a pretty good template for someone like Floyd to beat Pacman. If you look at the fight closely, pacman hardly got a clean punch in. And Clottey, with the few punches he landed, did damage to pacman. Pacman can get hit. With someone with the defense of Floyd and the quickness of Floyd, he cud really look at this fight and learn a great deal from it. Clottey didn't get hit much, despite manny's high work rate. In this fite pac looked less than invincible.
@EverydayNormalDude If Clottey wasn't smart enough to keep in his shell he literally wouldn't have a face because Pacquiao would have pounded it to hamburger....I agree that Clottey fights a bit too defensively at times, but the stakes are very high in boxing, and if you lose and get hurt it's far worse than if you lose and don't get hurt, because you have to live with your body for the rest of your life.
