I like the new format -- even interrupting the flow -- to hear your adjustments, thoughts, impressions -- I get more insight into what you are looking to do and how, as well as technique. The texture in that film was too much for me in most shots though!!!
Awesome video as always and cool photos. I recently heard about Revolog film and I also want to take more crazy, experimental photos, so I'll check the film out. Keep it up, it's always nice to see your videos poppin up.
great video and great shots that film is definitely, uh, interesting. i just picked up a xa2 myself and am excited to use. looking forward to more content, it was pretty informative too
Love the new format. Love lazy daze. Love the xa2. Loved your composition. Did not love that crazy film. Id really like to see a video from you on how you shoot the xa2 as I'm scared off from it by it's zone kinda focus....
@@AwesomeCameras yeah I'm not sure that video was 💯 technically correct? But also the xa2 doesn't use zone focusing in the strict sense because you can't control the aperture, right? I guess I'm interested in more detail on how you "focus" the xa2 specifically as you seem to get spot on focus with it. Chur.
This one is pretty dope Joey. I told you on IG that I got moved in to a new place towards Sac now, I'm now putting up the shelving and storage for all the cameras and audio equipment and I think that with the new (13 year old) Lumix I could be gearing up to do some videos on my other channel. I know you wanted to know when that would be happening. And I think that by late this month it'll be happening. Of course I haven't tested the wet chemicals after the fire but if they aren't good anymore I'm close to a full blown shop and lab now so I should be getting a few rolls developed soon. Love the video as always and glad you are the proud parent of an older RV. They need love too. Anyway I applied for an internship at Camera Rescue this summer to learn how to service cameras properly and if that happens I'll definitely pump out some videos on that. Stay frosty. -Shane
Yes Joe I dig the shooting in the field style of this episode. Would be cool to see images from your other cams also. Glad the rv is getting you out traveling.
Find shooing a P&S a bit freeing. Just took one I had laying around the house for a short dog walk. Felt way less pressure to make an image then using my 'normal' camera. Even made a little video of it, yet to develop the roll but was still enjoyable to go out snap a few frames.
Not loving the Revelog "texture" film, but the ISO 800 sunrise silhouette shot looked amazing (my favorite that we saw). Don't know if you knew what the texture overlay would be like, but I found it a little funny when you mentioned getting water on the lens towards the end - as in - how would you even know with that texture? I like rain (who am I kidding? I LOVE rain - I'm a pluviophile) so the rain at the end was an added bonus. The flow of the video was fine. Giving the set-up on site was fine. Great video. Hope you make it to Phoenix at some point.
Great vlog. Found the texture effect of the film a bit heavy and unsubtle for my taste . Enjoying seeing the California sun from here in cold, grey, wet and windy Wales though!
Interesting film, but i don't think it's for me. But did love those silhouette shot's at the end, not sure the texture was doing it for me though. But interesting seeing new stuff, keep up the great work.
I like both filming styles :) So, is there no internal flash with that camera? It seems like one needs a separate flash, which kinda puts me off (in case that is the case)...
I was just looking it up on eBay -- a bit pricey for an older almost-point-and-shoot, but there is an add-on flash that like clips onto the side, extending the body (and making it look a bit silly)....
@@KentuckyChicken2 -- the XA2 is a bit odd in general -- it's a zone-focus "rangefinder" but with only automatic exposure -- and as Joey says, he cannot tell exactly what shutter speed it is using, and it can go low enough that hand-motion can be a problem. Not to my taste for $65+.
I bought an XA2 a month or so ago, and I can't get the damn thing to work...! I heard there's a secret to getting the locked up ones to work again, any tips??
@@klaushuxley3342 Some can have "dodgy" shutter releases, try pushing down a little more firmly. Apparently they can get a bit bent if someone has previously pushed down hard on the shutter release, making it either difficult or not possible to get them to work again. Also I think they won't release the shutter if there's not enough light try it outdoors or point at a bright light.
@@jasono9358 I've found several accounts of people removing the top cover and bending something back into place to make the shutter work again. One particular guy I found allegedly bought two 'locked up' XA2s and had them working again in only a few minutes.
The texture roll is cool but I don't think I could use it and not also take photos on standard film or digital. One or two photos I'm okay with but not a whole roll.
