I saw them in California in 1982……great concert!❤️Journey and Loverboy, Cow Palace, 1982. Lights, Faithfully……they are great. They were featured in the original Heavy Metal Movie.❤️
Steve "The Voice" Perry has the ABSOLUTE BEST VOICE EVER in the history of music! There's no one that ever could or EVER WILL be as great as Steve Perry! He has been my favorite singer and always will be!
I was a fan way before this amazing song. Saw Journey 6 times. Also saw Perry 3 times on his solo. Talk about ears being blessed. He sounds so much better live.
I was 17 the first time I heard this song in 1981 when it first came out and I was in the Navy, stationed in Naples, Italy. I fell in love with Steve Perry (in a healthy and respectful way) and I love him to this day.
I just found my way here after having re-found Journey after many years of listening to other music. I was a single mother when I first heard this song having recently gone through a divorce and was very disillusioned with life and love in general. I heard this song on the radio and burst into tears, not from heartbreak but from the healing that this song brought that true love did exist and that, even though relationships could be in distress, you could come out the other side with a sincere and loving relationship. Thanks Journey for the relationship therapy, hope and faith in life in general that this song brought to me in a time of hopelessness and despair. Not to mention getting to enjoy the angelic voice of the wonderful Steve Perry!
Yes Brother Listen To Mother Farther Live in Houston TX. 1981 He S000 Awsome And Amazing.. And You Got To listen too Too late,Something To Hide, Winds Of March,Who's Crying Now,Wheel In Sky Day Dream,City Of The Angle's,
In 1978 at 16 years old, my friends and I spent a week in Yosemite one summer. We listened to Journey over and over and they have been one of my favorite bands ever since. Steve Perry had a voice of an angel and Neal Shon was a virtuoso on the guitar. Journey is one of the Iconic bands of the 70 and 80's.
Please listen to "When You Love A Woman", "Faithfully", "Foolish Heart". Listen to "Wheel In The Sky", listen to him hit that high note during the guitar solo. Love Journey!!!
You can't go wrong with anything from Journey(Steve Perry).... Mother Father (live Houston '81), Wheel In the Sky (live Houston '81) Patiently (midnight special '78) Why Can't this Night go on Forever
Still They Ride,Faithfuly,Chain Reaction, Why Can't This Night Go on Forever, When You Love A Woman, So Many Great Songs Specialy With Steve Perry As Lead Vocals...
I was Blessed to see Journey twice with Steve! They are my favorite band but I just haven`t been able to go see them without Steve. I want my memories with the whole original band :) Mother/Father live in Houston is a must-see but one thing I can tell you is that what you hear on the studio tracks is what you get when you see them! And talk about energy, they brought it! Keep On Rockin'
I was blessed to be born in 1976 and I grew up listening to Journey and so many other amazing bands but there was always something that was so incredibly special about Journey and this band just had the entire package when it came to talent, artistry, creativity but most importantly this band will hit you in your heart every time! You won’t experience music like this anymore but thank god for RU-vid because now the younger generations can experience real music today! Love your reaction and it’s a blessing that you appreciate real music ❤️🙏
I was a senior in high school when this album came out, it was being played on everybody’s car stereo for an entire year. It was so incredible to look forward to a new album back in the day and when bands came around in concert. Today you get an air one, loo synch and fashion show. Today’s crowd has no idea what it’s like to go to a real concert.Name one modern day singer other than Chris Stapleton that can sing with such power live….today’s music blows. 60’s 70s ruled
This song was the theme song of my high school junior prom. Yes, I'm that old. Back in the day Journey was everywhere. Steve Perry has such a beautiful voice, I could listen to him all day. The band is still doing shows but they have a new lead singer that is very good in his own right but he's no Steve Perry. Steve Perry came back to music in 2018 as a solo artist and put out an album called Traces. You might like it.
Devin, I saw them live in the early 80’s at Madison Square Garden in NYC and OMG what a concert. Between Steve Perry’s voice and the great musicians in the band it was incredible. I also remember Bryan Adams opened for them and he was really amazing but my friend and I had a bunch of guys who were jerks in front of us booing him off the stage so we told them to shut the F$&k up and they finally did. Keep diving into more Journey. You can’t go wrong with any of their songs
You’ve won me over young man. If you’d like to see how much Steve’s live version compares the audio recording, you should take the time to see for yourself, you won’t be disappointed. The entire band is always spot on. The band, minus Steve’s vocals, still tours to packed arenas. Their singer does a good job mimicking Steve, but it’s not the same. The singer was found quite by accident from videos of performances that was found on RU-vid, it’s an interesting story. I’ve enjoyed watching you react to the music from my life & there are many, many fantastic bands you still need to discover! Keep it up, I’m excited to see your reactions! 👍🏻☮️
Please do "Faithfully" next!! The official video or the studio version. For this song, live is not better. And I really enjoy your Journey reactions, keep em coming ❤
Hahaha in ‘82 I was 14… sighs and giggles… but even younger than that I bought a turntable from the neighbor across the street and the Journey Infinity album… I played that over and over and OVER!!! Great memories!!!! 🔥🔥🤘💜
Oh Devin i saw him live 6 times,i was 15 in '82' huge crush on a girl but never had the nerve to ask her out,so yea this song and so many others have a special place in my heart from Journey. 🎙🤘🥁
I was fortunate enough to have Journey be the first concert I went to. They were amazing and timeless. Steve's voice is indeed that of an angel and their music and lyrics never fail to give me a serious case of the feels.
For those of us truly blessed to have witnessed journey and Steve live, it was obvious we were blessed by greatness in the musicianship and put of this world vocal range and abilities if the one and only Steve Perry. Whatever Journey laid down in the studio per their recordings was taken to an entirely new level live. Steve is just hands down one of the best vocalists and all around talents beg ND and on the mic.
Great reaction Devin, I really love seeing you connect with some of the music I've grown up loving! Journey is for sure one of my all time favorite bands - their music just touches my soul. Really love seeing someone younger moved by them the same way. Peace & Blessings friend! ❤
Devin, No..you did your fans a big SERVICE by exposing them to this song! Now you know how myself and many others felt when we first heard this song when it came out in 1981, the year that I graduated high school. You are correct in the fact that we are blessed to have heard Steve Perry sing. Noone will ever match that man's talent on the ballads he sang. He knew exactly where to be soft or strong in every part of every song he ever recorded. That is truly a "GOD GIVEN" talent. No other way to describe it. Really enjoyed your reaction to this song!
There's a video on the YT somewhere where an audio engineer ran all of Steve's vocals from the Live In Houston concert thru AutoTune. There were only a handful of NOTES where Steve's voice wasn't pitch perfect and the program suggested adjustments, and even those were very minor, within the "fix it or let it go" range.
Anything from Journey's 1981 Houston concert is fire. "Mother, Father" is a vocal masterpiece...the notes Steve Perry hits are unbelievable, particularly at the end.
There are so many great song’s you’re going to discover! I don’t think they have a bad one. One of my favorite songs by them is “I’ll be alright without you””. I think from 1982
Before Jonathan Cain (the keyboardist) joined Journey. He had already written parts of this song. He at that time, was in a group called The Baby's. Jon had presented the melody to the singer John Waite. And John didn't care for the it at all! SO......When he joined Journey, he presented it Steve. And Steve was like.....'What is that??' Jon told Steve that John didn't care for the song and Steve was like.....'well bad for John good for us!" " Just react to every Journey song!!!...lol...
Journey is my favorite band of all time, Steve Perry has the best voice in music!!! The 81 concert live in Houston is great to watch. So many great songs. (Why can’t this night go on forever.) (Faithfully.) (Still they ride.) I can list so many you should react to.
steve perry put out a 2nd album in the 1990's and a 3rd album in 2018. (solo albums). his first solo album was in 1984. they all have good songs on them. i think, i was 19 years old when "open arms" came out.
I was a teenager. I played that song over and over. I still listen to it like that. People still can't get enough of Steve Perry. He can't even walk outside without getting a lot of attention from fans. He's a very private person. He's my favorite singer of all times. I'm partial to that shirt because I modeled it for a small company. I'm 54. People say I look like I could be his sister. But please play more Journey or Steve Perry's solo album. They don't have a bad song. Everyone reacts to the same songs. Please try to find one new. I'd be grateful
i have 2 Journey song that are must to hear my favorite Suzanne 86 from raised on a radio i'm surprised i didn't wear my tape out in the mid 90's lol and from 96 when you love a woman.
The first time I heard this song, I was stuck on the Cabin John Bridge, trying to get home after a very long day. I had an AM radio in my car that actually stopped broadcasting after the sun went down. I heard this song for the first time and was actually GLAD I was stuck in traffic. All these years later, some songs just bring back amazing memories.
I think this is actually 1981 in Houston unless he wore that same outfit again in 1982....lol. I was 20 the year this one came out on the Escape Album.
New JOURNEY FAN EVEN THOUGH I'M RETIRED. Steve Perry IS FANTASTIC SINGER. bY THE WAY, THEIR PIANIST WROTE THIS AND THEY WERE UNSURE ABOUR THEIR FANS REACTION.NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE FANS WENT CRAZY.
