The Puyallup Valley chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League is building a remembrance gallery to encourage an inclusive understanding of the wrongful incarceration of 125,000 Japanese and Japanese Americans during World War II.
Eileen Lamphere, the President of the Puyallup Valley chapter of the J.A.C.L., joined anchors Steve McCarron and Tyrah Majors to talk about the display and the importance of highlighting such a dark time in our region’s history.

Thank you, Eileen and the JACL, for putting together the memorial and helping highlight this important chapter of history! I have a friend whose grandparents and mother were incarcerated in another state, and she now works to spread the information about what happened. People lost their homes, farms, and businesses and were incarcerated for no reason other than ethnicity.

Explains a lot about the "not so fun-in fact, tragic" energy you can feel at the fair grounds. Did you ever go there, and get a sudden, bizarre impulse to cry?

It's pronounced, "IN CAR SIR AY SHUN". This is how to tell when the speaker doesn't care.
