I was there in Houston my home city. And yes absolutely unbelievably perfect voice I had chills that whole concert. I didn't think anyone on earth could sing this good with soo much emotional feelings in his phenomenal voice!!
Steve Perry's voice is iconic! Every time he starts you know it's him. Such an awesome and unique voice. Spectacular live! Journey is one of the greatest 70s, 80s, 90s bands ever.
"What is that singer's name? Somebody tell me!" I was wondering how long it would take you to say that. Every human who has listened to this incarnation of Journey has asked that same question, with the same urgency and admiration. His name is Steve Perry, and his nickname is "The Voice." Journey's success skyrocketed after he was brought into the band. Not to suggest that the other members of the band aren't talented and amazing, but Perry was the last piece of the puzzle that transformed a good band into "magic."
watch this live in Houston, you will be amazed at how good he was live. TRULY one of the if not the best rock voices of all time. And as someone said watch When you love a woman, you and your wife. it is an amazing song. finally, for his true range, watch Mother, Father from Houston live as well. His range is unmatched.
Adding another vote, for The live version of “Mother, Father” from the 1981 concert in Houston! Definitely on of their deep tracks, about a deep topic (love prevailing in a broken home). On top of that, it showcases each band member’s skills. Check it out. YOU WON’T REGRET IT!
@@efe5150 Definitely going to throw my lot in for you checking out "Mother, Father!" ABSOLUTELY and amazing song performance from that concert in Houston!!!!!
Mother Father Live in Houston. The Angelic note Steve Perry hits at the end is a MUST see. Vocally probably one of the best, if not the best rock concerts you are going to find. Amazing. Better than the studio recordings. Keep up the Awesome reviews. God Bless.
you gotta check them out "live". They sound even better, if you can believe that. Please do a reaction to "Mother, Father" by; Journey. live in Houston 1981. Steve Perry's vocals will blow you away. Especially at the end. 🤘😎
Journey's "When you love a woman" is so under rated it's not funny. It needed to have more play time years ago. It's a beautiful, touching, romantic song. A definite song that shows off Steve Perry's amazing voice. 💕💕💯
This song is my fav to sing a long to❤ Steve Perry is such a phenomenal singer. He sounds the same live and sings so effortlessly, yet passionately. Had the privilege to see them in concert in '78.
Check out "Don't Stop Believing" live in Houston - 1981 Escape Tour. Who's Crying Now can also be heard on that same tour-- both for which there are videos on RU-vid.
I love watching the younger generation listen and appreciate good music when they hear it. I’ve been a fan of Journey since I was 14 and heard Wheel in the Sky for the first time. I’m now 57 and I’m now as much a fan now probably more so than then. Their music, more Steve Perry’s voice got me through some really tough times in my life along with God and prayers. But if u really want to appreciate Journey, u need to watch them live. They have a live recording of their Escape tour 81’ Houston that will blow ur socks off. U can pull up each song individually or all of it. But the Mother Father song off that performance is legendary!!! Also it only took Steve Perry 1 take in the recording studio to get it. Amazing voice there. They don’t call him The Voice for nothing. Lol 😂 Also love the way u respond to the songs. There was a lot of other great groups during this time that I think u would like - Queen, Foreigner, Styx, Boston, Kansas, Def Leppard. That’s just a few to help if u haven’t heard of them yet. Looking forward to ur next Journey song & reaction. Good luck and God Bless🙏🏻
To really appreciate this song, you ought to catch it live on the Houston tour with Neil Schon driving that solo home ALL THE WAY-- amazing to say the least!!!! Your interpretation of this song hits close to an accurate interpretation as most can give.
I love your reaction to Journey! I've been a Journey fan since I was 15, and their music has gotten me through some tough times. I'm now 56 yrs. old and I still listen to Journey, as long as STEVE PERRY is singing. He brought Journey into the spotlight with his beautiful voice. Mr. Jon Bon Jovi himself gave Steve Perry the nickname 'The Voice', for good reason! He has such vocal range! It is demonstrated in several songs, including Don't Stop Believin', Lay It Down, and When You Love A Woman. I suggest you listen to Open Arms, a beautiful love song, also Lovin' Touchin Squeezin', the first song I heard from Journey back in 1978! Enjoy the music!
Wheel in the Sky by Journey is AMAZING & also shows off his range. It's best to do the video with it or you'll miss when he sings during the guitar solo
My favorite Journey song when I was a kid was 'Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin''. For reasons I don't quite understand, every single time that song was played on the radio, without a beat in between, it was followed by 'Lights', which was from an entirely different album. Give it a listen though, you won't regret it. Will have you swaying in your seat.
Steve perry is a legend, his voice is one of a kind. Hearing the drums drop that beat gives me the chills.love seeing the reaction of hearing this song for the first time.epic❤
There is no bad journey tune in the Steve perry and journey years of the recordings written and performed. Steve was even better live than on record and to see humans the band live was a true experience. Steve Perry was dubbed " the voice" for ason. Watching your joy in discovering Journey was our joy for the decade Steve created such an awesome legacy with the band. You should check out some if Steve's dili work as well per his street talk, for the live if strange medicine and traces recordings.
I really want you to react to every stage of his career as a series. You won’t be disappointed and you’d be the first. He is still singing at almost 73.
Obviously your not reading your comments. Be a revolutionary!!!! 81, when a man loves a woman ( Grammy nominated) anything from fLS M and traces. You would be a hero!!!!
His name is Steve Perry Lead Singer of Journey, They had there best Years and hit Songs when Steve was the Lead Singer, They call Him the Voice, he is one of the best if not the Best Rock Singer in History. You should do a Reaction to Journey live in Houston 1981 Songs Stone in Love, WHo's Crying Now, Open Arms, Don't Stop Believin, Wheel in the Sky, Also Faithfully, Lights, Only the Young.
This is great music. Also, my next to oldest both 1990 live this music. That's because my children were raised on great music that was even before my day. You have a great weekend. Love to all.
You should listen to ‘Keep on Runnin’ its one of my favorites and everyone has only reacted to his stage performance, which is amazing but the cleanliness of the studio recording is just beautiful. I highly suggest it!
Thank you for your statement of faith ! Hope for a sin weary world! You’re just beginning your journey with Journey! I graduated in 1981 and has always been my favorite band. I’m 57 and still listen to them and never grow tired. Steve’s voice is mesmerizing. Look forward to hearing more of your reactions from them. They have a storehouse of great songs!💕☀️
Steve Perry and Jon Cain (keyboardist) finished this song in one afternoon. Steve had written the chorus whilst driving between Bakersfield and San Fransisco and singing into a cassette recorder, went to Jon's house with rain coming down in sheets and the whole song in his head. After humming the tune to Jonathan and guiding him through the piano parts, Cain remarked that it sounded like “A somebody done somebody wrong song” and came up with the line, “Who’s crying now?”
You have to watch the live performances to get the full emotional reactions. Also listen to the Journey and or Steve Perry solo career music other then the regular ones that only the radio stations played. They have a large catalog of music that the stations never played. No matter which songs you pull up you will not be disappointed.
Devin, listen to Winds of March and Something to Hide, classic Journey from the 70s. I was blessed to see them in 1980, and to this date in 2023, I still get goosebumps and emotional with Steve's voice. Amazing, no one like Steve, best male voice of all time.❤
Devin, as usual, you get the interpretation of the song exactly right! And, to watch you VIBE to these songs. Wow. All I can say is that you truly are "AN OLD SOUL" when it comes to music. Most of what you react to is exactly what I grew up on. So, I guess, I am a little luckier in that regard. But, anyone, such as yourself, who can really feel and relate to that music is also LUCKY and blessed. Much Love and Respect to you brother!
Fun Fact!! When the Escape album was finished. The studio told Journey the Neal's guitar solo was too long, and that they needed to shorten it. Steve Perry (lead singer) got mad said that they 'were not going to shorten'! The studio (record company) said, that 'it was too long for radio play! And that it needs to be shorten!' Steve told them, 'if the radio station wants to shorten the song, to bring start another song. Then that's fine!! Other than THAT we're NOT shortening the solo!!!' Thus you have this amazing guitar solo!!!
Whoa ooh oh oh! Steve don't need no lyrics!!!! It's an INSTRUMENT!!!!! "What is that singers name?!" LOL Rough week and finally smiling and laughing going through your Journey reactions!!! Thanks Dev!!!
Journey is one of the greatest groups of all time and Steve Perry has one of the best voices. My first concert was Journey and they were phenomenal. Definitely listen to more. Faithfully is a gorgeous song. I would also suggest Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'; Any Way You Want It; Feeling That Way/Anytime; Stone in Love; Wheel in the Sky; Send Her My Love. You really can't go wrong with anything by Journey or Steve Perry.
“Stone in Love” although didn’t chart as high as Don’t stop believing or who’s crying now, it was many peoples favorite song on that disk. You won’t be disappointed
You need to react to “Send Her My Love”. Steve Perry is Journey and was blessed with an angelic voice and we are all blessed to share in his journey in life. Thanks for sharing.
Journey is right up there with this type of groups( Foreigner, Boston, Kansas, April Wine etc) BUT it's the VOICE man that seperates them from all the rest .
Written by Steve Perry, Jonathan Cain + Neal Schon. 40 years! 🎂 Steve Perry on lead vocals. Jon Bon Jovi nicknamed him The Voice. JC listened to the recently passed BJ Thomas, passed away this year, 2021. 1 of 4 ballads in the album Escape. Speaking of marriage, the marriages of JC + other Journey members were falling apart. Van Halen 1st toured with Journey. Late Ed van Halen shared some guitar tips with Neal Schon. Btw Neal has funny stories about Van Halen! L🤣L Suggested next video: Mother Father. RIP Mike Stone + Kevin Elson, producers of the album Escape, Ed van Halen.
Pretty much any LIVE track from 1981 Live in Houston will tickle your senses and wow your mind. But specifically: Mother Father, Send Her My Love, Stone In Love
I think that after this song you should see "mother father " live from Houston 81 !! Masterpiece of live performances! You may also like "stone in love" live from the same concert or audio version. I think you will not be disapointed.
My very first concert in 1981 and I am telling you STEVE PERRY is the one of the best vocalist I have ever seen besides Freddie Mercury of Queen Klaus Mein of Scorpions and Getty Lee of Rush. They are amazing. AMAZING. Klaus Mein
🦋 I Have Enjoyed Listening To Journey For As Long As I Can Remember. This was an Awesome Reaction Devin! 🙌 When You're Feelin' Like Doing Another Reaction On This Band. Check Out Journey's: Feeling That Way & Anytime. The 6:56 video here on RU-vid. Is A double Song Feature & 💯% 🔥 On Many Levels! I Would Absolutely Love To See You React To This Masterpiece of Music. 🎶🎶🤘😏🎶🎶
Journey is just full of beauty. From the lyrics to the musical interpretation that is Steve Perry, to utter disbelief at Neal bending those notes on his guitar. We are blessed to have the audio & video of this insane legacy. Nothing like Arena Rock!
You have to listen to SHERRIF "When I'm With You" a number one power ballad from the 80's. The lead singer holds the Guinness Book World Record for holding out a note the longest on any popular hit song!! It hit the charts twice in the 80's by them, the second time was 5 years later and it went to #1!
Their live performances were / are legendary. In the days that Steve Perry was their front man, his vocals were as good live as they were in the studios. He earned the moniker “The Voice.” Their music is timeless.
Love your interpretation and your wise words about life! Steve Perry the lead singer known as “The Voice” is an amazing singer. Journey is another great rabbit hole to go down just like Queen and Freddie Mercury. You should listen to Anytime That You Want Me, Anyway You Want It, Mother Father, Lovin Touchin Squeezin, Just The Same Way And there are so many more. Keep enjoying the wonderful ride that is Journey! Enjoy and thanks for a great reaction ♥️
Aww, man, you just HAVE TO do a reaction to both this song and "Mother, Father" from the "Live in Houston 1981 Escape Tour" concert video. Oh, and I just love when you younger generation appreciate music from the 70s-80s. Thank you for that!
Steve's voice is top notch. I'd put him in the top 10 of all time. And Neal Shon is a beast on guitar. He signed with his first band at like 15-16.. Definitely one of my favorite guitarist!! Never get tired of hearing him jam..
