The rain has been relentless in SoCal, so being stuck inside I recorded a tune I’ve been working on (Joy Spring) using a Zoom M1 recorder. It’s a pretty loose interpretation, but what the heck…
I decided to cut out the opening melody to save time, but it appears later on after a couple of solos.
The Zoom recorder is fairly new, I thought it might be handy to use with the iPad because it’s shaped like a standard mic, but can be used to record directly into the iPad, whilst also recording straight to a mini SD card. It can also be used as an interface, it has a headphone jack which can monitor your whole mix as you record, and even used for mixing afterwards. It has an extremely high SPL rating, and a 32 bit float - so even blowing straight into it will yield distortion free recordings. It won’t replace my Ultimate 58 from Blowsmeaway, but as a one stop solution for recording without needing an external interface it’s pretty handy. It is also great for recording live, and rehearsals as well.
I absolutely love the Seydel Volcany Harmonica, it’s been my main “ go-to” since I purchased it!
I am participating in the 60th SPAH Conference this year, and I am thrilled!
I’ll be performing on both the Seydel Harmonicas, as well as The DM48X Digital Harmonica, and I’m looking forward to meeting some of the best players in the world, and hooking up with my many friends in the harmonica community. It’s gonna be a blast! Hope to see you there! August 15th to the 20th in St. Louis. Cheers!
