Howdy folks! Today I'm demoing the Joyo Bantamp AtomiC. It's an affordable take on a vintage "AC" style amp that has been heard on bazillions of recordings. It's a extremely compact amp with 20 Watts Class D, two channels, an effects, loop, a headphone out, and bluetooth for jamming along with music. I'd say with an efficient speaker, it could keep up with a moderate hitting drummer. If you have a John Bonham impersonator on the drums, it probably won't keep up. But at bedroom levels, I think it sounds great.

-Caline Snakebite reverb in the effects loop

-Mooer Radar with an IR of a AC-15 cabinet mic'd with a SM57

@@Chucksguitargeekery im new to this but is it possible to hook this up to front of house? Church has NO equipment for electric guitar and very little budget. This looks like a good compromise for the time being with just the head if its possible to go directly to the front of house since we currently do not have any cabinets either. Just need something for now until we can afford better equipment.

naitomeaxst Yes, it can do that if you just run the headphone out to the PA. It’s a solid state power amp, so it’s ok to run without a speaker cab. But, if that’s the only way you want to use this, I’d go for a pedal instead. Mooer makes some pretty good amp modeling pedals for less money, look up the Mooer Day Tripper if you want a Vox sound.

So which do you prefer: Atomic by Joyo or the Vox MV50 Clean?

I’ve only played the MV50 AC, but I preferred the Joyo just because of the flexibility. It has switchable clean and gain, and has the effects loop. Sound wise, they’re pretty comparable.

The sneaky thing about the Vox MV50 series is they’re only 50 watts at 4ohms. Most speaker cabs you’re going to find are 8 or 16 ohms, which you’ll only actually see 25 or 12.5 watts, respectively.

It’s a bit unorthodox, but it’s a combination of a Weber Mini Mass attenuator I found dirt cheap at a yard sale and a no-name passive load box I found on Reverb.com. The Mini Mass has a line out which I send to the Mooer Radar for IRs, and the speaker out from the Mini mass goes to the passive load box. I could run the Mini mass to an actual speaker with the attenuation all the way down, but there’s still noise coming out of the speaker. I know there’s other products on the market that do this simpler (2 notes torpedo, etc.,), but this is what I had and was dirt cheap.
