JPEGMAFIA is definitely no stranger to the Dead End Hip Hop guys. Since his breakout album in 2018, Veteran, JPEG's name has become a staple within the "experimental rap" subgenre. After his bizarre and eclectic follow-up album, All My Heroes Are Cornballs, as well as a few EPs, a lot of people were really curious to see where JPEG would go next. Do you think LP! was a proper follow-up? Did it further establish JPEG as a mainstay in the genre? Or is the magic wearing off? They gotta listen to the Offline version and update their thoughts on the next In My Rotation. Some of the songs that are on the Offline even got different samples and arrangements. The Online flows more like a compilation.

honestly I thought this was Peggy's best work. production was nuts, his bars were super dope throughout. TRUST! and REBOUND! are two of the best songs and beats he's ever made

Tired nervous and broke is genius. He is totally locked in to the beat with his flow. The rhythms are just bouncing all over the place but you never feel lost. It's just inspired stuff

There are 5 tracks that aren't on the Online version, plus some missing samples on other songs. Definitely recommend the Offline version as it's objectively the best experience.

Elucid dissed him on Leopard off of Shrines too. If you read the lyrics is super super obvious. Glad they squashed the beef though, 2 of my favorite artists and I loved them collaborating in the past.

With you on this myke. We want peggy over peggy production. Thats what makes him so unique. Sure, give me some features and one-off single with other producers- that could be fun. But for albums we want that all produced, mixed and mastered by peggy. Dude is insane

YOO! I was enjoying the official version enough but yeah, there was something weird about it. Especially confused about it ending with tracks from the EP. Just dropped cash on the offline version, hyped to listen to that. Thanks to Myke for being on-the-ball on that one, I saw JPEG complaining about samples and labels on twitter but somehow I missed there was a version with all that cut stuff.

Album of the year for me. FEEFO is spot on too. This album really gives me because of the internet vibes. I cannot stop listening to the offline version. Hazard duty pay, Dikembe, rebound, and untitled are just different.

This is AOTY!!! PEGGY's best album I agree!!! Great review guys!! I'm kinda surpised Beezy doesn't dig this though, since Beezy likes more Underground lyrical type songs, although he said it was the production, I personally think the prod was great for Peggy and since B said he loves Trap beats I thought he'd dig these bits at least a lil haha, anyways super dope review guys, keep up the great work!!!

Not that I fully agree with Rod, but I do think that Peggy working with another producer is totally viable but they would need to collab on beats. His song with Kenny Beats is excellent, so are his songs with Gorillaz/CHAI, Health and Flume but they all still sound like Peggy. For it to work it needs to be in that ballpark IMO but still, I personally want Peggy to just be himself cause nothing compares

If you're a production fan and you find Peggy's production too all over the place it means it's too challenging for you. Plain and simple. If your mind goes to "this man needs to be on some kaytra beats" your mind is in the wrong place. Some people just have basic ass ears man. Which is okay. But stay your ass over there. We'll have fun opening our minds to different things.

I agree with Myke on this. JPEG's uniqueness comes from him being an experimental rapper. Even him getting the buzz he got was from being that way. I also feel at this point Flying Lotus and Katraynada are traditional instrumentalist because they've influenced so much that you can find people rapping over those psychedelic jazz like beats. Of course, it's not an entirely mainstream sounds but when you have artist like Tyler, the second half of Mac's discog, and even offshoots like Earl and the art rap scene, you have plenty of things close to that. Plus I don't think it would really sound that great over a FlyLo beat. I could be wrong but I don't think I've heard a lot of FlyLo instrumentals that JPEG could be over and the ones I have aren't really made to be rapped over beats.

So surprised! Infact, I went back and just listened to it to make sure. The beat is straight forward, he's going in, there's nothing crazy experimental about (imo). Shit so hard, got me singing along to diss bars of one of my other favorite hiphop groups (Armand Hammer).

I still haven't check this guy out yet. Every time I try I can't really get into it. Music usually grabs me immediately. I will continue to try, as with really good food or good wisky sometimes I takes a couple tries before you say it ain't for you.

I definitely like a lot of Peggy’s stuff but I do think his older albums tend to drag a bit. Like he overindulges in the abstract a little too much. But this one is sooo much easier to listen to. Definitely his best yet.
