Not a fan of either school, but ASU won this. Lol at the cameraman being anti-ASU and was about to clown their NECK until ASU shut his ass up. ASU has the best arrangement of NECK of any HBCU bands.
coming from an su man, I have to give this to the boom. Bama yall clean as hell but, the boom has that edge on yall from this clip. Yall look to be bigger than the boom, but that still giving yall the business. SU and JSU hands down run the swac, the rest of yall can stand down.
I live in Maryland where they Know nothing about Bands and the J-settes or Stingettes or the Dolls of MVSU or SU. They dont care. I enjoy seeing the bands do what they do. You really don't know how good you have it until you cant go to the game because you are far away. I support them because they are repping where Im from THE SOUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Up here they try to mirror us and call us country but we doing it. So ALL bands keep it up. I am Country an love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When Bama State's new one of a kind, state of the art, football complex is completed this year' their whole football atmosphere will chane for the better. Fans will pack that arena out every game starting with the, Turkey Day Classic!
2011 was one of those idk years from JSU just like 2015 but with all this stuff going on at JSU loyalty wise right now. Idk if they can get there selves together. For a great year...
Being from BAMA I always here that we are country or stubborn and what have you, but if I want to feel better, all I have to do is look 50 miles west and suddenly I realize things could be ALOT WORSE!!! LLS #HORNETNATION!!
The ignorance within the comments from this video is absolutely RIDICULOUS! It's literally like the pot calling the kettle black. MS: Fattest State. AL: Second Fattest State. MS: Poorest State. Al: #4 on the list. Both bands are only relatively known in the SWAC or surrounding cities. Both schools rich in history and tradition. One band (JSU) known for their excellence; the other band (ASU) continuing to build on excellence.
That's funny beacuse I was thinking the same thing about the slew of trumpets JSU has, but yet the are barely heard and it's like 40+....where they do that at? LOL
I said it before and will say it again. ASU was on a whole nother leve than that of JSU!! If Jsu wasn't so scary they would make that trip to ASU this year, but they always choose to face apponents they have the advantage over. Here they out number ASU in every brass section and still can't keep up!
just2real1 SonicBoomC98 Please Chill. It is great to see both bands Rep for there Schools but the main thing we as adults need to do is give it up for both bands. Its cool to rival each other but damn! The comment you 2 are making are over the top. I went to ASU But I also Love JSU and SU AND ALCORN and the Swac schools and Bands. They both have stepped there game up on the rebuilding of there campuses, and Graduating more Students. That's what its all about. Work to bring up the FOLKs
This is 2011 we are discussing, so I could care less about how ever many years in the past you are referring to, but like I stated in 2011 for JSU to have 40- 50 trumpets you couldn't tell from the clip above. A slew of horn holders, which maybe the same case for ASU Btones, as you pointed out. Generations get weaker and weaker so you need more people to produce the volume a much smaller section in the past wounld have produced. Simply making observations as you have been doing.
OH I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT NBTV REACHED A 5 YR $125,000 CONTRACTED AGREEMENT WITH TWO BANDS FOR THE NEXT 5 CLASSICS. THESE TWO BANDS NOT FROM JACKSON, LOUSIANA, OR TEXAS. YOU GUESSED IT CORRECTLY. THEY ARE BOTH IN ALABAMA.
YOU SEE SIMPLETON NOT ONLY DOES OUR BAND RELY ON CONTRIBUTIONS FROM ALUM, HANDOUTS FROM BOOSTERS, OR FANS. OUR BAND ACTUALLY WORKS FOR AND WITHIN ITSELF CREATING OPPORTUNITY WHERE THERE IS NONE, WHILE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF ALL OTHERS! TOO BAD WE WON'T BE SEEING YOUR BAND ON NBTV FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS! ONCE AGAIN YOU ARE DISMISSED! GOOD DAY!
ASU is the third newest SWAC school, so I wouldn't expect 20+ championships. ASU has only been Swac for about 30 years.JSU has been Swac for 50+ years.
i see alot of comments negative about where you stay and the schools you attend.....and even where they rank in the nation......as far as education because the only thing that gets respected in the south is our schools, culture, and our bands. so let's keep it about the bands cause people on the east coast, west coast and up north come to our schools cause they love how we do in DA SOUTH.
The young man you mentioned who played for JSU, where is he IN THE LEAGUE now? Maybe his career could have actually taken off if it wasn't for all of those damn violations in your raggedy ass football program. Walter Payton, great athlete. Where is he IN THE LEAGUE NOW? Don't get me wrong you should still be proud of these previous accomplishments but if that's all you have to hang on to then you are nostalgic and will be surpassed. Look around! It has already begun!! #HORNETNATION!!!
There is nothing to be jealous of. Bama State is getting it's little 15 minutes of game right now, but they got nothing on JSU or the BOOM's history or resume. Yeah like ASU is the main reason the MCC is packed. AAMU is mainly what's keeping yall semi-relevant. Football is a little bigger deal in the state of Alabama, but it sure ain't because of ASU.
And so you signed a little deal with NBTV. You don't know what deal will be signed with another SWAC school between now and the time that contract runs out.
Then again we are watching clips and you hardly every get the qualityof sound as you would have in person! I Think ASU and JSU both are good bands, I just happen to like ASU style over JSU its just my preference. Nothing that I are you say is law so, lets just agree to disagree.
Lol. I just love the way you people rely on what has been or what was to get you over. Keep doing that as ASU continues to leave you behind. "JSU still owns the largest stadium in the swac...period.". Lol You are actually proud that your school accepted the cities old hand-me-downs.
Its called an opinion and it's my opinion that those songs played by ASU were executed and sound well, however, if you didn't like those songs and think otherwise guess what? That's your opinion!! I hope band is your major becuase logic and reasoning seems to be a foreign concept for you, which I am pretty sure you would need for any other major.
Sir or MAAM, please be aware that JSU has lead ncaa records in home game attendance for Division II multiple times. NEVER has asu... speak fact not fiction.
The swac office didnt move to alabama until 1999. So, whats your point?? Before then, asu was a doormat for teams like Jsu, Southern, and Grambling. We used to play yall sorry school for homecoming lol. Do your research. As for the stadium, Jsu has "owned" it for 3 years now. They still manage to make record numbers in attendance.. something asu has never done at that borrowed high school stadium in montgomery. Speak fact, not fiction please.. and thank you.
So u mean to tell me that since JSU has been in the swac 20 more years than asu... this explains why JSU has exactly 20 more championships???? Which would mean they would have had to win EVERY year?! Dude, please explain why asu have only 3 in 30 years lolololol....still waiting.....................................
JSU owns their 65,000 seat stadium. What Alabama State should be working on is gaining a fan base and trying to get like JSU and SU. Bama Stank does not have a real fan base, so whats the point in a stadium lol. No one shows up for asu games unless its the magic city classic... asu sucks. They should get their weight up and "try" leading attendance like JSU and Southern does ;)
You all did the city of Jackson and the State of Ms a HUGE favor by taking that fossil off their hands. I mean lets be honest kind. I would rather a much smaller NEW Caddy with all of the bells and amenities than to ride around Gramps old outdated one which is exactly what your school is doing. That's all good in well. Hey if you're happy with settling and being mediocre. I don't want to interrupt.
This is Asu first time going to the Swac/Meac challenge...whats your point? JSU has been there & done that!! JSU gets televised at their Classic game against Tenn State, also JSU will be televised when they are the ONLY swac team this season to play an SEC oppenent vs Miss State on Espn. Also JSU will be televised in the swac championship. Asu doesnt even have a traveling fan base dude lol. Birmingham is the furthest people can afford to go.. from Montgomery smh AND DOWN
The fact that your smalltime program has lived off an event that happened almost 4 years ago speaks volumes on how smalltime you guys really are. The fact that your DMs traumatized the entire crowd with their too tight pajamas nullifies anything good that could've came from Bama Smalltime South.
baby jsu got in that ass jsu horns were singing i got 5 on it that ice cream man didnt even compare jsu song choice was superb man they sounded good as shit and sounded good while asu was marching in. that i got 5 on it was the bizzness pre jsu hands down
And of course the MCC is such a big game, people can't stand to see yall but once a year and they pick that game. I guess they figure at least they'll get to see AAMU too for the money they pay.
