The information Garbo was producing was radioed from England to Spain, decrypted, and then re-encrypted using an Enigma machine for retransmission to Germany. Because his reports were so verbose, and it took a while to decode the original coded message and reencode it using an Enigma, that gave the code breakers the plain text for a huge amount of material. This obviously assisted Bletchley Park in decrypting the Enigma machine codes.

But then i started to watch lindybeiges stuff on tanks and WW2 as well as reading anecdotes of what regular people were up to at the time, the various strategies and schemes that happened, and its freaking amazing. So much amazing human ingenuity and bravery was displayed in that relatively short period and some of the stuff that happened, if i read it in a fiction book id be like "thats totally unrealistic, that would never happen". I keep watching this in the evening before going to bed when I'm supposed to be writing my diary. This episode is just too good and bloody distracting. Must've watched it 20 times at least in the last fortnight

Tom Scott is great for comedy and general info about cool things and places, but it's best to steer well clear on the political front.

You know the bit about the inflatable tank floating off and how it should be in a film? It was used in the recent Dad's Army "tribute" film, mode mostly on location in Bridlington (which is of course in Yorkshire, where else). CGI tanks sadly.
