It's no different on college campuses when its athletes are given tests that are easy enough for them to get an acceptable passing score that won't affect their scholarship. I had to laugh when I heard the statement almost 40 years ago by one of the university heads that college athletes serve a "utilitarian purpose". What, to help raise money for the school by impressing upon its alumni how "great" their sports program is? In the meantime, what happens to the student athletes after they've had their moment in the sun? In one city, I saw a guy who was his school's basketball star acting as a gofer, running an architect's plans to a Kinko's. Maybe it's me, but I don't think that was the career to which he aspired. This BS is the reason why I have always had a thorn in my side when it comes to the academic community; while students are told that they only get out of their school what they put into it, this is not the case for the jocks. They get what they're told they're gonna get, and nothing more.

This is an ugly situation. Nothing good can come out of it. God help us all.

I'm SO tired of these kinds of things happening. Everywhere, from Atlanta to D.C. HOLD THESE CROOKS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS. PLEASE. THANK YOU.

What the teachers did was undeniably wrong, but giving some of them 7 years behind bars is absurd.

***** Nope. It was perfect. They destroyed the lives of hundred of students that will never could do it in the university. They will have disadvantages the rest of their lives. They passed pupils that they did not know how to read correctly!! What they did was horrible wrong.

They should have to serve the entire sentences. All 20 years and the whole 5 years of those that got a slap on the wrist. Period.

Theyre just doing what everyone else is doing. I cant blame them. The United States gives African Americans too many special privledges.
