Even though I do enjoy this movie, I kinda wish the rest of the movie was like this scene. This scene as a whole feels like Judge Dredd. Unlike the rest of the film which felt more like a sequel to Demolition man. Plus, Stallone looks badass in the Judge uniform.

That was the problem with this movie. By having Dredd on the run instead of being a 'Judge', it was no different from any other framed cop on the run movie, which was a waste of the Dredd franchise.

@Johnfuse its 20 mm Flechette, Flechettes are basically mini lawn darts, they have good penetration but they lose stability past there designed range because they lose speed and start to tumble.

Johnfuse any projectile will start to encounter air resistance once shot and slow a little. That and from what I can tell the type of ammo they are using loses stability after a certain distance (I.e velocity loss) making it even less effective.

@@thegermanbrownie7407 No. He's full of crap. Though it looks similar, it's NOT the same mockup weapon as Aliens. James Remar is using a custom futuristic rifle made out of a pump shotgun. All the weapons in this version of Judge Dredd were custom made for the film and many were fiberglass mockups housing eitiher pump shotguns or AKs inside of them. The movie was filmed at Shepperton Studioes in UK, (Aliens was filmed at PINEWOOD studioes).

First room: Watched a hole being made on the ceiling, watches a judge drop down, identifies the judge and yells "Dredd" before even raising their guns. Second room: Auto shoots the doorway as soon as it was kicked open.

This reminds me of funny event that happened in WWII The Spanish Revolution of 1936, The Pz1 was armed with only Machineguns and one day the met the T-26 tank and couldn't penetrate. So the germans made a bullet for the machine guns to be able to penetrate it at 150 meters. The enemy later found that out later, and decided to engage the Pz1 at 200 meters.

@@MrTsiolkovsky Comic book movies in the 90s werent taken that seriously. And they certainly wasn't dark and gritty like they are now cause the mature audience then werent big comic book readers. Since this was a comic book they made it appeal to the younger audience. I was 12 when I saw this movie and I loved it. Not to mention they sold action figures and toys after the release of this movie. So I can see why you like the newer one cause its more mature, but I think the 90s version is better for younger audiences.

This one got it right (for the most part) up until Stallone took his helmet off. If the new Dredd would have had the same art design as this one we would have had a total masterpiece. Urban's Dredd is still far and above Stallone's though.

Probably could have - he was supposed to play Hicks in Aliens but he had a major drug problem and kept screwing up so he was fired and replaced with Biehn. Remar talked about it in the DVD bonuses with the Alien collection.

Casting Sylvester Stallone as Dredd is just brilliant. Judge Dredd never takes his helmet off. I mean, sure, he does end up bare-faced in the movie, but we didn't know *that*. It was kind of a surprise. Meaning they were working with a character whose face is never seen, except for the lower half. So they needed an actor with a *very* iconic lower face. Stallone.

Lethal range is 200 meters ok well say thats true.. But they are shooting down so the range would be increased and i've always found that if something can hit metal hard enough to spark, it would go into your body very easily.
