I haven't heard a more stern dressing down on the disrespect of other people's time, as presented by Judge Judy to the defendant, who was 40 minutes late for a court appearance. Wow!
@@Kausten He came late for a hearing of an arbitration case that just happens to be on TV. He has no respect for someone else's time. I'd have dismissed his case and given the plaintiff the money.
@@Kausten So he arrived late for work, late for job interviews, late for appointments, late paying bills, etc. Do you not see a potentially hazardous behavior pattern for the defendant, if Judge Judy didn't address it? Maybe not. But I for one, am glad she did.
@@missbradicah ofcourse i do.. just saying its TV. "Case" means nothing if not for the legal papers P and D sign. More pressing problems in the world imo :p Also i wouldent be surprised if D was encouraged to be late.. TV you know...
@@pisto30 He came late for a TV show.. Its not a Court... If it is, then its a higly corrupt one... He got paid to be on it... Actual courts do not pay you.. Well unless you sue for something, and win i guess :p
I have seen a few and she can always see through the lies so fast, it's hilarious. Doesn't everyone know who she is by now and know what she's great at doing?
Well here's why, judge judy asked him what he does, says he works online, asked where his parents were, said they are doing some stuff they do everyday, ie saying they're working, said he was late because his brother was in the hospital, then said he was with his parents in the hospital, so he's kinda making up stuff as he's going along, trying to keep up with the story he made as why he was late, he even said he called the producer asking to postpone or reschedule the court hearing at a later time, but doesn't make sense since the producer went to pick him up at his house
As Judge Judy has famously said..."when you tell the truth you don't have to have a good memory". He forgot the lie he told her staff. Glad JJ regulated him for being disrespected.
The hilarious part about "when you tell the truth you don't have to have a good memory" is that you actually DO need a good memory otherwise you can't remember the truth and you're forced to make shit up.
If you cannot be prosecuted for being dishonest, she needs to institute a fine for lying to her court that's equivalent to 25-50% of appearance earnings.
@@jessicaslater4243 It's a lot easier to remember things you actually experienced than stories you made up on the fly. And..."otherwise you can't remember the truth and you're forced to make shit up"...um, ok, maybe that's how _you_ handle not remembering something...most people just say "I don't remember".
@@nwezetx1 LOL, you think she actually wants to discourage people from lying? It's not a court, it's a TV show. She gets a lot of mileage from catching people in lies (even when sometimes the "lies" are just her jumping to conclusions, and other times they come from the producers browbeating the -contestants- "litigants" into changing their written complaint to create better drama for TV).
@@persiankendoll he literally said parents ??? He never said a thing about roommates. Why would his roommates be taking care of his little sister anyways
I took someone to court over non payment of rent. He did not show up. The judge had me fully present my case and prove it with evidence before he would rule in my favor.
I think I’m going to play this speech to my doctor every single time I go. I arrive 15min early as required by them and then just end up sitting in the waiting room an hour past my appointment time.
That's not entirely fair because doctors can at best make estimates at treatment required for their patients and how long it will take to properly issue medical certificates and make sure the patient leaves in the best health that can possibly be given in their short timeframe. This also dosen't take into account that other people are late to their appointment which adds up to why you got shown in later.
@@danielbalderrama4137 I work in healthcare…I know how the system works. Insurance allocates a certain amount of time per ICD-10 code..and some people take WAY longer than their time slot….but 100% of the time they are over an hour late, not reasonable and don’t ask me to be early if you are over an hour late, but if I show up late my appointment is cancelled…not fair. My time matters just as much.
@@danielbalderrama4137 they expect the doctor to be with each patient for 5 minutes. Those type of people will never understand what goes on behind the sense: even if you show they, still wouldn’t understand it
It doesn't even seem like he lied. If you re-watch it, he literally just answered the questions as she was asking them and never backtracked. When she said, "did you do your online schooling today", he answered no, followed by "I had a family emergency". Then she questions him about the emergency, and he explains it to her and how it happened out of nowhere then she berates him for not knowing where his parents were all day. It's like she's refusing to acknowledge the fact that the family emergency wasn't an all-day event and it occurred unexpectantly, like he said. It's entirely possible that they all met up at the hospital later in the day and that's why he didn't know what his parents were doing since he obviously wasn't with them prior to the medical emergency.
@@nissan_skyline This was filmed in the evening. You're wrong. Why would he go to the hospital because of an emergency that was so pressing, he had to miss "Judge Judy" but his parents didn't go to the hospital with him? His brother may have a medical condition, may even be in the hospital (but he wasn't), but 1) he didn't spend the morning with him and 2) it wasn't an emergency or else everyone would have canceled their plans that day to see him. The reality is he was just chilling at home, too lazy to drive to be on TV because he was the defendant and didn't feel like it. So a producer -- who is in charge of problem-solving -- had to drive to his home in L.A. and pick him up to guarantee he'd get there. All while the crew had to sit around doing nothing 'cause they couldn't leave 'til that case was filmed.
The fact that he just looked at her and was thinking of how he could get out of this one reminds me of when I expose my lying students for cheating or turning in late assignments 😂😂
I love how the camera guy puts as his description "Admits He Was Late."🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 As someone who used to have a job like that there were a number of times that I wished that I could do the exact same sort of thing and get away with it.
If the first time anyone was late to anything, and Judge Judy popped out and gave them this rant, this country would never have another late person EVER. I just need her to go with me to my next doctor's appointment, lol
Oh please you sound absurd. Life happens. Usually you just cancel or reschedule. Late means at least the person shows up and ALL your time isn't wasted. You grasp that? If you cancel/reschedule that almost always means you can't reclaim that time it's ALL wasted. Hence the saying better late than never.
@@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep I dont know if you have ever heard of this thing called 'humor'. Sure it's not for everyone, but it explains my feeble attempts.
2:11 This is me when my family or friends come to NYC from the Caribbean or Latin America. It's like they have their own clock that's has its own special time zone so they always 30-40 minutes late for everything and act like its normal to be late SMH
My only disagreement with the judge mocking online education. As an adult who chose to return to college for a new career, and worked full time, an online degree program was awesome.
@@anada303 Disagree with the quality comment. I earned two degrees traditionally in "brick and mortar" universities but my third degree, completed 100% online was the most challenging degree anfcI learned so much more than my colleagues in the same field who didn't go to an online program.
"If you're 22 yrs old and don't understand that I'm prepared to give u a dress down"😂😂😂😂😂. Then he proceeds to give that lie another go around. GET HIM JJ!!!
I agree, I’m doing online school but that’s only because I work 12 hrs at a hospital and it’s more convenient for me but I’m always on time. Sometimes judge Judy drops the ball on shit she says sometimes
@@classicstorm probably because this isn’t the first time she has said ignorant things when it comes to education. Like in one case where she talks down to this mother about her homeschooling her children and how she’s not qualified enough 😒
when JJ said that ALL of the people in the audience works full-time, I would challenge that, the same with her statement of "they don't go to school online, they go to school". I bet more than one person rolled their eyes looking busy. I went to college twice, my second degree was part-time because I was working full-time, half the classes were online, and I got a degree in computer science from one of the best Universities in Europe like that. My ex had a degree and a Masters in psychotherapy the same way, mostly online from one of the best universities, no problem. You need to apply yourself and do a lot more research on your own, but there's noting wrong with online courses.
I mean to be completely honest, even if he was at the hospital, what difference does 40 minutes make? If it’s something so severe, you’d just not show up to court and take the L. If it’s NOT a life threatening situation, you would just leave the hospital 40 minutes earlier than he did and then come back when you’re done!!
I agree about being late, but she didn’t have to insult online students like that. That was uncalled for and quite arrogant. It actually takes more effort and more time to be an online student. For any online student who actually takes their education seriously, it is hard work. It ain’t no cake walk just because it’s online!
This is hysterical. That clown is used to sliding by and using BS excuses for his lack of respect and responsibility. Judy pulled down his little boy pants and gave him a whoopin’.
JJ is right as hell, being late at all is disrespectful, being 40 min late is ridiculously disrespectful, and he’s obviously lying lying lying. BUT there’s nothing wrong with online classes and for JJ to imply it’s lazy to not physically go to school was a little much. 2:49
and you would have to buy into maybe another lie, about taking online classes. if he lies about 1 thing during his appearance, its very probable he lies about more.
Ya I’m sure the parents have an enabling mentality with this one. 22 years old and stumbling over words cuz you couldn’t be on time for an adult obligation when you have no full time job and living in someone else’s home. Zero reason to not be on time.
Hold on, Judge Judy: There is NOTHING wrong with attending school online! I did and graduated with honors! I can work the same career as someone who got in a CAR and went to class. Let's not be ignorant!
Yep. My husband got his bachelors online, as did I. We have 2 kids and wanted to make a better life for them while they’re still young. Also, we started school once the pandemic hit and we couldn’t go in person even if we wanted to. But online was what worked with 2 babies. And now we have bough our first home with our hard work.
Exactly! My dad got his masters degree online. Not everyone is able to put their priorities to the side in order pursue an in person degree program and those people shouldn’t be shamed for using non traditional methods to get their education.
I think she just zeroes in on every word trying to catch someone in a lie. She heard him initially say "go to school" and I think she assumed that meant physically going somewhere. I don't think she was trying to imply that remote courses don't count as going to school.
I think her point was that when he is going to school online he can do things on his own time. He has more flexibility with time. So he is living a life where he doesn’t take into consideration other people. Including not paying money back
Her focus is ultimately about time, and so him taking classes online means that he has much more control over his time than if he had to go out and commute to school. Don't evaluate her commentary about online education with no regard for her underlying point about his abuse of everyone's time, and his general disregard for truth and accuracy.
These Hispanic young guys from long island love those Honda Civics! If you see a used Honda Civic especially with a wing on the back 99.9% is a young Hispanic guy! 😂
I feel like I am late and I am in trouble with Judge Judy watching this LOL. But no, she can see right through anyone's lies. You can never outsmart the wise wisdom of JJ!
Yeah she does that a lot actually. And if she finds out you've been arrested or went to prison, she'll make you air that out even if it's completely irrelevant to the case.
It reminds me back in school Soo many teens giving teachers or nurses ‘fake notes’(maybe on rare occasions they are actually ‘real’ ) excusing them from classes 😂😂 it’s Classic..
