Jank is hard to define, but you know it when you see it.

I honestly would think listing the combos possible with the cards adds more than just discussing the cards in isolation; it illustrates how a seemingly harmless card can cause mass destruction or annoyance.

What makes quicksilver fountain so freaking great is if you bounce it during the end step of the opponent before your upkeep then replay it on your turn it won't affect PLUS if you can continue to bounce it the floor counter STAYS on the lands, and the ability DOES NOT go away, so their lands are PERMANENTLY islands for the remainder of the match. As per OFFICIAL rulings of WotC's rules page on this card.

The true winner was the audience on this one. Bringing jank to people's eyes makes all of our games a little more full of spice. Thank you prof and thank you Ced and Ken. This was a much refreshing and entertaining video to see! (I hope we get more jank episodes because a friend of mine would like to add more jank to his janky decks. The friend is me.)

To me a card is Janky when after using it your opponent go "I can't even get mad about it"

I love this. I would like to lodge a minor complaint- that being the definition of Jank here? To me, Jank is less of a defined, hard-and-fast thing, and more of a combination of qualities, that upon reaching a threshold combine to make something Jank. Qualities that increase “Jank Level” include: - Weird or unusual/unexpected effects - Low price on the card - Having no *immediate* effect on the board state - Being more situational than widely applicable Once a card or combination of cards has reached a certain threshold of those qualia, it is then “Jank” It should be noted that things can start out being Jank, but then lose this quality. Dark Depths is kind of a weird, silly jank card, but now that the Thespian Stage and/or Vampire Hexmage combo has become widespread, and the cards have increased in price, I wouldn’t consider it one. A good rule of thumb; if the card comes down on the table, and your opponent says some variation of the following; “wait, what? What set is that even from? It does what???” “ Why would you play that?” “ Oh shit, that actually works?!” Then you’re probably dealing with Jank

I love everything about this video. not only was it hilarious to watch the trash talk, but to both learn about new cards and see how creative you can get with Magic's wide variety of weird and silly interactions was both enlightening and super fun to brainstorm new brews. PLEASE KEEP ON GOIN! Love the Reflection card and the spellweaver volute bc they are weird cards and maybe i will use the reflection card more with other weird interactions in the future

Stormseeker + Peer into the Abyss is my favorite personal jank creation. It’s just almost* always a one shot, besides possibly in self mill.

The excitement I felt when I saw spellweaver volute and thought it would work perfectly in my Kalamax Instants Tribal deck can only be matched by the disappointment I felt when I read it closer and realized it wouldn’t work at all in my Kalamax Instants Tribal deck

I wanted to see what Ced was up to with Aphemia, the Cacophony.

My favorite janky card is "Possessed Portal" I decided to take it into the local modern tournament. People were very confused and had to double take and read the card twice. Somehow won 3 games... all against combo deck who don't like not drawing cards for some reason.

I miss when 7 mana do nothing enchaments were the breakout of the sets for me because they're great in edh. Wizard actually making cards specifically for edh feels bad.

Love this video, jank's awesome! Is this a one-of video or we may get more in the future? That'd be an awesome way to share lesser known cards and spread the greatness of jank. Cards like Verdant Succession, Soulgorger Orgg and Wormfang Manta are great to jank with. Favorites must be combos like Shrieking Drake + Wild Pair or Vulshok Battlemaster + Fumble (+Mycosynth Lattice +Bludgeon Brawl to be REALLY nasty).

The best part of this is how all of you are just having fun, and it really shows you do! Makes me happy

Oh man, fun jank cards are my favorite. With the new Rogue deck that came out with Zendikar, I finally found a place for Elbrus the Binding Blade; the very essence of jank. Was sooooooo happy to find a home for this card.
