I keep listening to this more than the cast recording. There’s just something about the authenticity. I also think Jade’s reaction reflects more of a confused and scared girl rather than an angry and frantic one. I just love her performance.
well... i'm pretty sure she gets pissy cause her father's running away from her, and veruca's making fun of her. in her final moments she gets a wake up call to how little her father actually cares about her, and the oompa loompas are making fun of her predicament and joking about her impending death. this has to be the absolute darkest moment in the entire musical
I kinda feel like it’s unfair tbh. She died because she didn’t know what pudding meant, this is something that I felt needed to be fixed and never was. When a common American child hears pudding, they don’t think “desert” they think of the food “pudding “. So there’s literally no way Violet would’ve been able to know to stop before she got to the blueberry pie.
@@angeldog15 My theory is that she didn't feel like she was ever good enough for her family, which is why she took up the career of holding the longest gum chewing record for over 3 years. As she is being lifted up by that pole she's on, she would have noticed how selfish her father was to get her and himself a bunch of money.
@@philiphamiltonpoetsixroman9357 Due the British term of pudding being a label for sweet foods after dinner, Violet would have thought of the actual food named pudding
i really love this because she's just chasing her father around, trying to get him to help her, but it's hard because she's inflating. however, her father doesn't want to be near her because he probably thinks it will happen to him too. neither of them listened to wonka, meaning that the father indirectly killed his own daughter because of greed and fame.
I’ve said this before but I think it’s ultimately a nationality issue. Wonka warns Violet to not get to pudding, which means dessert in the uk, Violet is American so obviously she would think that he means literally “pudding”, which is why she kept chewing the gum when she tasted pie. Here in america, if someone says pudding, we think of one dessert specifically not anything deemed a dessert. If that make sense.
Is this show’s tour still running? I know due to COVID that the American version has been postponed and this still touring, but I’m not sure about this one.
In my opinion, this isn’t really a costume “malfunction”, the suit barely inflating was her fault. The actresses have the ability to control how big or small the suit gets and with her reaction being so boring she could’ve atleast made the suit inflate a large amount. The costume wasn’t broken or anything, she just didn’t want it to get as big as it could. If you watch the Sophie Naglik and Adrianna videos, they start off slow and then make the suit large as they start running around.
@@charliefan9516 That may be true, but I'm guessing she pumped too little air into her backpack, which is why she increased so little. I don't fully understand how the air fills her suit, as Sophie Naglick explained to me, the tube just came out of the backpack into the suit.
@@ssmola107 now that you mention it, if the costume manager didn’t put enough air in the pack back it wouldn’t be her fault . There’s a really tight uncomfortable suit underneath the track suit. The tracksuit is really stretchy while looking very realistic .
@@charliefan9516 It is interesting to discuss the technical aspects of the show with you. That is, the manager fills the air, and the girls fill it to the end with a pump? It seems that the actress goes backstage after the song about Augustus Gloop
