Just gave this a try with the technique that Mike used, and WOW, what a great burger! I had done this in the past with a technique of just stuffing the burger with cheese and cooking the burgers directly. The technique of smashing two very thin patties and putting the cheese between the two is awesome. Indirect cooking with a reverse sear works great. 👏👏👏
I made these this evening. My wife made 3oz balls, used sharp cheese, and I grilled them for 30 min. My daughter is a hamburger with only cheese, so these were targeted to her. She indicated she preferred it cooked on an open fire. I agreed; it did not have that hamburger burnness. I think when I cook for children, I will use this method, but for adults, we will stick to the normal method. I do want to thank you, and we are open to trying something different. @@SnSGrillshaven't been getting any notification from your page, don't know why but today they happen to profile your page on my page, but I bought a Cuisinart portable wood pellet grill and smoker 5 months ago, but never got to use it, don't don't want to be lugging around a big grill, I'm 61 now. have you heard any news up on this grill or any reviews? The summer heat been killing my diabetes so I never got to use the grill, I think the air have been compromised with all this burning, flood or whatever going on in this world.
