I show how to remove and clear the bobbin case from the hook assembly of the Juki LU-562. Sometimes a thread can get trapped and jammed under the bobbin case and so the case needs to be removed to clear the race.
You can change them with torx head bolts for needle plate, feed dog and needle holder. slot screw drives are hard to reach and getting easily slipped. torx drive is a lifesaver for a sewing machine enthusiast :)
My LU1508NH, new, constantly has this issue of “not able to turn”. Nothing is jammed, but I just can’t make the mechanisms that are supposed to turn (from hand wheel to bobbin case) turn. That little tongue on the bobbin case keeps hitting the notch (though it’s meant to be in there, so I don’t know what’s going on).
Nice! This seems to be nearly the same, if not identical, as my Singer 211 Needle Feed machine bobbin hook and case, and these instructions worked like a charm!!!
My mother THANKS YOU!!!. Her Singer 111W153 upholstery machine had thread stuck in the bobbin that locked it up. Looking through RU-vid for repair videos, and noticed that the parts shown in the thumbnail image for your video looked similar to her machine, then played it to see they were exactly the same. You can see the the singer name and part # on the Juki machine of yours. Machine runs smoothly now.
If you believe you are the only one who could explain and show everything clearly , l have Techsew 1660 and there is no any help anywhere unfortunately, your vid helped me a lot, thank you very much
Thank you so much! Thought I was going to have to travel 90 miles to take my machine back. Thread was stuck in bobbin so I dismantled it and had no idea how to put it back together. Not only have I fixed it but have a lot better understanding of how they work together to form stitches :)
Fabulous! Mine's a Seiko but with the same bobbin set up. I managed to sort out a thread snare up without calling an engineer! managed to lose a tiny screw for about 5 mins though!
Thank you for this video - it is very helpful. Unfortunately, my case just won't come out no matter what position it's in. I can sense what position it should be in to remove because it lifts just a tiny bit on one side, but it's really stuck. I've tried pulling on the thread at the same time as each attempt to lift the case, but still won't release. I guess it's time for the repair man. Even so, this video will be very helpful for most of these situations. Thank You
I always stuff a paper towel around the bobbin case before I take the retainer screws out. I dropped one of the little screws once and it took a while to fish it out.
This video totally saved the day today! Do you know, is there an easy way to thread the bobbin case without removing it? I have an LH-3128. It's a double needle and just a bear to thread once the bobbin case has been installed.
I used this video a few weeks ago, on a new-to-me machine, to remove the bobbin case successfully and easily. However this morning I managed to get a bad thread jam down there and although I have removed most of the thread I know there is still some between the bobbin case and the hook mechanism, but I cannot remove the bobbin case no matter what I do. I think it's because of the jammed thread...! Can you give me some advice on how to do it?
Alex, these top loading bobbin machines, the little square tongue/tooth thing on the rim of the case, is it supposed to fit into the notch of the feed dog plate??
Neither me or my husband can get the screw out. They are really tight and I'd like to be able to remove it to clear out any thread that may have gotten stuck. Any suggestions?
Correct size tools are absolutely required. If screws get too damaged the prospect of getting them removed becomes daunting and in some cases the entire hook assembly needs replacement. So be extra careful with those screws because you can easily damage them. Sometimes a professional is needed and this may be one of those times.
Thanks so much for this tutorial, I'm going to try this as soon as I can to remove a bit of thread, however, I noticed you put the bobbin in going clockwise, my manuals for these LU machines say to put it in counter clockwise. Does this ever create a problem for you?
I've gone back and looked at my manual and it does not specify. I have never had a problem with this. Basically the difference would be realized in the amount of tension upon the bobbin thread and that difference is very slight. I know that different machines call for different orientations. It is my limited experience that as long as you do it the same every time, your adjustments will stay consistent and you will get good stitches from this machine. I realize that on some home machines, (the Singer 201 comes to mind) the orientation of the bobbin is more critical given the design of the hook. Since you have documentation that it should go in counter-clockwise I would stick with that. Thank you Much!
thanks, I really appreciate your reply! I work with a guy who said it doesn't matter which way it goes in, and so another opinion is always helpful, especially when it makes so much sense. My Consew does not specify, but my Juki does. By the way, your tutorial helped me get my new Juki LU1560 stitching again this morning, so thanks again!
Hi, I have a Consew 255RB-3 The needle has jammed in the down position and the bobbin doesn't move. I can see some thread may have jammed. I'm going to try this. I hope it works.
Hi, eventually I managed to get the bobbin case out of the machine, it was tight. Removed the cotton, cleaned it all up, and replaced it, but it's not making stitches now. Would this mean the timing has gone out?
Maybe, but not necessarily. Here is a timing video of another machine. Watch what the hook and needle look like as they pass one another. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pMPkUqA3kSk.html Then watch this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dVprkJXNma0.html
@@AlexanderDyer Thank you Alex, I have not adjusted the timing yet. Before I start I have now released the hook removed and cleaned and oiled according to the manual I have. I hope I have managed to put it back together properly. I have checked the correct threading and bobbin placement and did a test run but although it picked up the thread it did not form any stitches. Would this indicate the timing is at fault?
You must have the correctly sized screw drivers. The wrong size will bugger up the screws and then you will be sorry. Check out this video for ideas ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a2WXfJHYx3s.html
@@AlexanderDyer Thanks, I'm using the small screwdriver that came with the machine. I think it's just really tight because it's new. I'm going to have my husband give it a try. He's pretty good at taking things apart and fixing them.
Alexander thanks for sharing his video. I have a new to me Consew 226, and the removal of the case was the same. Is there no way to remove the case aside from removing the screws? Any recommendations for removing a bobbin from the case without removing the bobbin case everytime? I’m currently using a magnet to pick up the case and remove it.
That is the hook. What you are explaining is usually caused when the machine is not timed properly. But first make sure to try a fresh needle and make sure it is threaded in the correct direction.
Hi, I thank you for doing this video! my bobbin is stuck and the thread budge. Do I need to apply pressure in removing it? I removed the four screws and the plates. I want to do it properly
Sounds like you probably got a bunch of thread really jammed in there. Take you time and get that thread out carefully, you might have to go one thread at a time. If you force the parts, there is a chance you will break something that you don't want to. Good Luck.
Hi I was able to remove the case on Sunday after a lot of prayers and tears. I paid close attention to how it locks into the grooves, so if it happens again I know which way to move the case. thanks for your detailed video.
First let me start by saying I love your videos! I have recently purchased a Juki LU562 and they’re so helpful for me troubleshooting it. One issue I’m having and hopefully maybe you can point me in the right direction please... The thread, when I try to stitch a seam, will wrap around the bobbin case and lock up. Any ideas? Please and thank you in advance for any help.
If the bobbin case opener lever is adjusted improperly the thread can catch there. Operated by hand and see where the thread catches. If you are getting rats nest on bottom of project. those can catch in the hook. In that case you would need to tighten your tension.
Well I had replaced the original bobbin case because the spring won’t tighten enough so I switched it back to the original and just tightened the upper tension to balance the stitch more. The bobbin case won’t tighten more and I need it to. I bought one from amazon, a hook and case, and while it looks the same, I just used the bobbin case. I wasn’t messing with the hook! Lol I can’t remember if this problem started with that switch.... But your direction to the case and the thread catching made me think of the switch and so switching back has seemed to help that issue. I just need to perfect the tension. Thank you for taking the time to respond and pointing me in the direction.
Alexander I bought it from Amazon, lesson learned for sure. Lol I have been looking for original but can’t seem to find them. Any suggestions on where to look? Thank you! I do really appreciate your time and help. 😊
thanks for video...hey this machine i have has been sitting a loooooooong time and it rusted...those 2 screws you just removed i cannot remove mine ....i placed oil in it for about 6 hours to c if that will loosen but no results...is there somthing else i can do to remove those screws..thanks
Just got an LU 563. When you are feeding the bobbin thread, does the thread need to go under the tensioning spring on the outside of the bobbin case before pulling it up through the feed dog? If so, are there any tricks since there doesn't appear to be any room to do this. Thanks.
It is one of those things that you just have to make it work. Yes you need the thread to get pulled under that tensioner spring you referred to. One tip is to hold the bobbin from turning with one finger while pulling the thread tail.
do you have any recommendations on where to order bobbins for this machine? i have the exact same machine and when i purchased it, it only came with pre wound plastic bobbins. i ordered a set of 20 metal ones on ebay in which the description said they would fit this model, however they dont fit.
I like www.hendersonsewing.com Also when getting bobbins and parts I suggest you watch this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dVprkJXNma0.html
I followed your video to remove the thread... Thank you! However, now the bobbin case is stuck and not turning when the needle moves up and down. Any advice? I really appreciate YOU!
I am not sure I follow. Perhaps check your throat plate, it is keyed to hold the case lug in line with the needle. subtle but important. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zvEsOKqdPZ4.html If that is not it I would say just watch the whole thing again and retrace your steps until you discover your particular issue. Take it slow and do it perfect.🙂
hi, my stitching is looping on the top, so assuning this is a spool tensikn problem. one of my tiny screws is missing, but do you think I could also have thread stuck? my case also has a spring, which appears to be in correct. Is there any way of sending you a photo? if you dont mind helping me with this. Thanks in advance Tina
My bobbin (black thread) won't do that. :-( it keeps grabbing the thread (white) that belongs to the needle instead. Does anyone know the solution to this?
+Maggie Irizarry Hey, relax. Everything is good :) The hook that revolves around the bobbin case is doing its job. The hook plucks the thread off the needle and carries it around the bobbin. That is how the two threads become locked as in lock stitch. Cool Right?
What I mean is the needle thread gets wrapped around the bobbin. The bobbin goes around and around and either doesn't wrap itself in its own thread or I get a knot/mess and it doesn't work out for me. Can you do a video showing how to thread and have the bobbin hook up with the needle on a Juki LU-562?
my bobbin is really jammed up. I'm unable to rotate it to the position that let's me pull out the bobbin case. i can see the thread that is causing the problems but everything is seized up. any ideas what I can do?
+saramsmiley Well, you got to get that thread out of there. There is no "easy" button, just hard work and time. One thread at a time is my advice to you, now go get em!
@@AlexanderDyer according to the most of the sewing people, the case you named ''bobbin case'' is ''basket'' and the cap that set the lower thread tension (and to hold bobbin in its place at horizontal axis hook machines) is ''bobbin case''. (example: pfaff 1245 and all horizontal axis hook machines). after your response, I ve checked the Cerliani (one of the biggest hook manufacturer) catalog for terminology, and I saw that they have same vocab with you. thing that I call basket is, ''bobbin case''. and the thing that I call bobbin case is ''bobbin cap''.
