OMG you and Joel are both gonna LOVE that book! It is one of the beautiful and heartwarming stories I have EVER read. EVER IN MY LIFE. My husband saw me unable to put the book down and asked me what it was about and then he was nearly hovering over me waiting for me to finish it so he could read it. LOLz He's got it now.
Yes! Probably my favourite romance, best part is you get to imagen that the president of the united stats is a woman with a latino, bisexual, son and a divers white house staff
OMG! THE KING HAS POSTEEEEED!!! Bro, you are so aesthetic and intelligent, some bitches COULD NEEEEVER! I also really love your reading taste and your taste in music is also extraordinary. Keep up the good work! ✌️(awkward bi peace sign)
I love Dorian! I’m loving the videos Joel and the new thumbnail styles! I want to say thanks for keeping me sane during lockdown and motivating me to start my own booktube channel! 💕👑🧝🏻♂️💚
I love the Raybearer UK cover so much more than the US one. Don't get me wrong, the US one is pretty, great use of color. But the woman's face hidden in the negative space with the vines and leaves of the UK one is just amazing!
Joel: I only read 9 books in one month hopefully I can read more that 9 in august. Me, a new(er) friend of the reading community: proud of reading four books between june and july lol hopefully someday I can get up to that level! thank you for all the great recommendations along the way :)
A pretty solid Les Mis retelling: _A Wish in the Dark_ by Christina Soontornvat. It's MG, but it captures the heart of Les Mis through a Thai-inspired fantasy setting....and the cast, I wanted more of them cuz they were **chef's kiss** .
Joel 🥺 You're too kind, thank you so so much! I've got to say, you have SO MANY books on your wrap up and TBR that I want to read, and I'm looking forward to them. I'm not gonna say I'm jealous about that BEAUTIFUL hardback cover of City of Brass, not at all. No sir. But seriously, though, your mention of The Bone Season really piqued my curiosity. I'm going to have to pick that one up rather soon-ish. Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on so many of these books! Hope you have a great evening :D
Ahaha I was seriously so lucky with the CoB hardback, I think I spent all of my luck on that this year! And oooh I’ll let you know what I think of The Bone Season!!
The House in the Cerulean Sea is one of my favorite reads of the year! I'm also looking forward to reading Cemetery Boys, Cinderella is Dead and Summer of Everything Other books on my TBR: The Bone Shard Daughter, Crowning Soul, Star Daughter Looking forward to more of your videos
Well it’s nice to meet you, Dorian🤧 I’M CURRENTLY READING CITY OF BRASS AND I’M HOOKED! also felt really represented because I haven’t seen any Islamic practices/history very explicitly explored in books🥺
"hopefully i'll read more in august" he says... after reading some CHUNKERS in July.... omgosh you read such massive books so pride yourself on that - like your page count with the Daevabad trilogy is massive already! and AHH i'm also reading (well rereading) the bone season this month so i'm really excited to see what you think of it!
the kiss quotient is amazing its so soooooo cute and also hot and also has a fucking strong female character that i just love, stelle it's amazing i just love her!!!!!!!!!!
That cold open is the kind of positive energy I need in my life. Also I love the way you introduce and summarise the books. My fav reads last month were Heartstopper by Alice Osman and the manga Spy X Family. This month I need to finish the 12 or so books I'm expecting on Libby, and I'm already done with the first 😄 Edit: !! If you're looking for romance PLEASE read Red White and Royal Blue for disaster gays/ bis in love
You HAVE to read The Bromance Book Club and Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams!!!!! It is AWESOME and a LAUGH OUT LOUD (till your stomach hurts) kind of read!!!!
Now I want to read city of brass even though I already have approx 103939490230 fantasy books on my tbr. Also HI TO DORIAN THE PLANT and also also that cover for the space between worlds 😍😍😍😍
YOUR VIDEOS ARE SO MUCH FUN, JOEEELLLL ❤️ hahahah i loved this so much! i hope you have a great reading month full of amazing books and great things! kisses!
The Space Between Worlds sound super interesting. I gotta read this! I really liked The Kiss Quotiant! I reccomend The Hating Game, too if you hadn't read it yet.
For the romance readathon, you should definitely check out Carry On by Rainbow Rowell and Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. I've read them recently and they have become my ultimate FAVOURITE books of all time.
My favorite book I read in July is Fierce Femmes & Notorious Liars by Kai Cheng Thom. And on my tbr for August are Take a Hint Dani Brown, Gods of Jade and Shadow, Rise of Kiyoshi and The Death of Vivek Oji.
I really loved both The Kiss Quotient and Get a Life, Chloe Brown so I'm excited to see what you think of them! Another romance I would recommend are The Right Swipe!
You bringing up "Dragon Pearl" reminds me of "Wicked Fox" by Kat Cho. Its a YA fantasy/ romance novel with Korean mythology. I'm a new subscriber so I don't know if this is your kinda thing but I would love to hear your thoughts on it because I'm in the middle of it right now. Keep up the good work!!!
I keep on seeing Empire of Gold and I cannot wait!! As for romance books - I'm a sucker for enemies-to-lover and loved The Hating Game, though I should really give it a reread!
About Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 - there's a movie, too, starring Jung Yumi and Gong Yoo (Gong Yoo!) . Also, it's really interesting to find out how the novel really blew up in South Korea when it was first released - people loved it a lot and hated it a lot, and several South Korean celebrities got cancelled for showing their appreciation for the book.
Can you please visit my place and help me organize my major mess of a bookcase and life in general 😂 ugh I really love you're personality you're truly amazing.... Thanks for this video and helping me remind myself to give me a kick under my *** and clean and reorganize my shelf, anyway... Thank you for being you and you're amazing content. Keep up the good work 💕 greetings from the Netherlands 💕💝
My hold for empire of gold finally came in on Libby! (That's a US library ebook and audio book service). Not my preferred method but since the library is not currently available to me... Taking what I can get. ... I've discovered that with romance, the same tropes that I gravitate towards in other genres are what I prefer in romance as well. I don't know if that helps at all.
as a filipino, seeing 'Junk Terror Bill' (+resources) in your description box made me smile. thank you for your support & for spreading the message 💙 im glad i stumbled upon this video - subscribed!
if i could recommend romances to read for your romance reading vlog they would def be: 💌 you deserve each other by sarah hogle 💌 red, white & royal blue by casey mcquiston 💌 (of course) simon vs. the homosapiens agenda by becky albertalli I've read quite a few romances but these 3 def rank the highest on giving all the fluffy feels 😔
Legit you are literally everything I have been looking for on booktube, everything you say just makes me fangirl! I cannot stop binging your videos. What am I going to do with myself when I've watched them all oh gods. We stan
I'm in the middle of In Order To Live and it really opened my eyes to shit that happens in North Korea (even worse than what we think) and how women are so badly treated by society and their husbands. Now I'm waiting for Kim Jiyoung Born 1982 to arrive and can't wait to read about the reality in South Korea too.
I loved both The Kiss Quotient and Get a Life Chloe Brown; I hope you enjoy them too! Also, you make me wanna pick up the daevabad trilogy immediately haha
just discovered you're channel and i am completely in love. you have one of those voices and energies where I could just listen to you for hours. let's hope this is a beautiful journey full of joy and laugh!
Joely!! 💜 I had no idea you were on RU-vid but I’m happy I found you! Your videos are great and I’m very excited to see everything you do in the future.
I listened to Get a Life Chloe Brown on audiobook and fell in love! I immediately got Take a Hint Dani Brown and it may be even better which I didn't know was possible. Hope you enjoy!
i absolutely loved get a life, chloe brown!!! and can't wait to read take a hint, dani brown! i've read cinderella is dead quite recently, and while i enjoyed it, i did not love it as much as everyone seems to have loved it, sadly. )): i hope you're having a great reading month!!
Impressive TBR list and I believe you can read all those books this month. I have God if Jade and Shadow on my wishlist when you last talked about it and already have The House by the Cerulean Sea on there, too because another Booktuber suggested it. I have an ambitious TBR list--6 books, I haven't done that much since I was a kid. In order of reading is; In the Hall With the Knife (I am almost 30% in), City of Brass (inspired by your vlog), Undead Worlds Anthology #1, Conceal Don't Feel, An Unkindness of Ghosts, and Our Hearts Will Burn Us Down. Forgive me if I don't remember the author's right now. My favorite book I read in July was All Systems Red by Martha Wells. Technically I started it at the end of June, but finished it in July. Gave that book 5 stars. Enjoy your journey through your books. 😊
