If he was not with jumbo and had a more competetive and less team-oriented attitude, he would be one of the best GC-riders in the world. I am convinced of it. But as a dane, I am BEYOND happy to have him on Vingegaard's team! He is absolutely incredible! It is really amazing what Jumbo has done in that sense. Take super versatile star riders like Wout van Art and Sepp Kuss, who could easily compete for more titles and stages with lesser teams (probably with less results though) and turn them into INCREDIBLE domestiques for the best team in world cycling right now. So cool to watch!
@@oscarskjoldanlook at his TT palmares and say that again with a straight face 🙃 Love the guy but he wouldn’t cut it. Maybe 1 week long mountainous races but no way a GT
1. Please always sing your intros to us forever and ever 😮🎶 2. Roglic interviews when he's happy are the purest, most endearing thing 3. GC Kuss 🐱🤯🌌"The prophecy is true"
Jumbo Visma is so OP it's almost not funny any more. I cannot remember a team with so much pure talent in a really long time. Today's stage was a perfect example. Bossing the entire stage, controlling a huge break away, and still having Kuss, Jonas and Rogla on the last ramp to bully Remco is just mad. Imagine getting "attacked" by one of the best climbers in the world, and turning your head to see both the TDF and Giro winners sucking your wheel, all working together to break you. It must be so mentally hard. I feel for Remco and Poggi having to battle the most insane team in cycling history. I can see why Remco has been "complaining" about his team
No one want the red jersey now. There is much mountain yet. Because this, riders like Landa, soler, muss are at front of the favorites.. I think that Marc Soler will be the next red Jersey after the time trial
@@mearekevin true, but Remco probably wont take more than 3-4 minutes back, so Kuss will still be close to him after the TT. Jumbo can use this in following mountain stages
yeah same here. but he said in his podcast he's trying to lose time so he can go for stages the next weeks, so I don't think he's feeling as bad as the time gaps suggest
It's been awhile (without the secret stuff of course) when an American is in the overall leaders jersey in a grand tour like this tour... Makes a guy like myself smile.
Roglic in the best form of his life, the youngsters pushing him to the limit, two more Jumbo able to get to the overall win: there are all the ingredients for 15 more days of exciting race.
Probably not the best of his life. I think that was probably in the 2021 tour but we didnt get to see it cause of the crash. His Collada Llomena and Covadonga performance is still better than what he's been able to show since then (possibly because he's had so many injuries all the time.
probably even worse, Pogacar had a injured Roglic and Jonas(with UAE being arguably the better domestique team). Remco has to contend with peak Roglic, Jonas and GC Kuss at the same time, while im hoping for a good battle i am pretty afraid of this blowing up
@@shattiieepeak? Are u mad man? Kuss has done 2 big Tour races, Jonas has done 1 big tour, and more he cant do cuz he sucks ass and plans his whole training on only those 3 weeks, he’s nothing big. And sadly Roglic is out of form for 2 years already. The main thing is, Enric fucking Mas can keep up with em and compete, that man already was written down after last year. Not to mention, its only the first week, big things will happen at 3rd week, and thats the way Jumbo makes their plan.
@@shattiiee sure, in tdf 2023 Pogacar didn't have the best preparation going into the tour and was battling prime Jonas, with strong donestiques like wva, Kuss only with a little help from yates. But I agree, Remco seems to be in a worse condition now with TJV basically having 3 GC contenders atm
@@erwinpluys1279You think so? They'll probably say "Pogačar wasn't there" 😊. They'll always find something to hate on the biggest talent since the cannibal
Great to see remco recovering his form, asserting his position relatively to the jumbo guys. Obviously, it is going to be almost impossible for him to win, i can already see roglic and vingegaard pushing him to the limit in the upcoming stages, like they did it to pogi in the tour of france. Neverthless, it's been fun to watch, cycling is in a very good place right now and i cant wait to see whats gonna happen tomorrow
Roglic raising his arms with confidence (most of the time when he does it you can feel he is afraid of crashing) is maybe the most amazing moment here!
After the TT, Evenepoel is certainly at least on 3rd in GC. But Jumbo is really incredible - imagine if Kuss won that Vuelta, they‘d have all Grand Tours with three different riders in one year 💆🏼♂️
yeah stage 13 will be interesting with the 19km 7.4% climb on the tourmalet at the end after already 2 really hard climbs. Think that will be deciding for the vuelta
Possibly the final season before Jumbo become another Grand Tour sportswashing operation for a bloody Middle Eastern dictatorship. Still possible to enjoy their performances and wins until then. Particularly glad for Kuss - that guy and his attitude towards everyone deserves all the rewards.
I suppose the rest of the world could suddenly decide to give a **** about democracy, or at least "freedom" or something .. and anyway boycott their money. -- Course they'd probably want to think about some of the US support of quite a few of them. So then *that* money, too.
I’m in the Middle East and wonder why the west think the gulf nations need to “wash” their oil money, while the wests oil or whatever money is clean? Sincere question
@@huttonsdubai411You're confusing green washing and sports washing (both bad but slightly different). Many people do criticize teams like Ineos and Total Energies for being funded by fossil fuel companies. Just look at the criticism of the GB cycling team at the world champs a couple of weeks ago for being sponsored by Shell. The sports washing criticism is more aimed at the gulf states and Kazakhstan (Astana) because they're using sports sponsorship to launder their image on the world stage in the hopes that we will forget about the human rights violations, mistreatment of minorities, women and migrant workers. It's not just cycling that's being used. It's a farce watching sporting events put on at huge expense with no crowds in an environment that doesn't suit the sport just so the simple minded can look past the crimes these countries are perpetrating. It's a bummer
@@huttonsdubai411 Nobody said entities from the West are not involved in similar activities. Just like governments of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, Israel, etc think they need to wash their regimes in the eyes of international audiences by using sports and sports teams for that purpose, you have examples of Western climate-wrecking megacorporations like Ineos doing greenwashing in the same way. But my comment was highlighting the Middle Eastern regimes because it was about Jumbo-Visma, who are believed to have signed a deal with a Saudi sportswashing project starting next year. I'm also not from the "West" and not taking some particular point of view based on that.
@@huttonsdubai411 off topic, but why the way I want to know why "the West" thinks the middle east is somehow not part of the West. :) Here in the West we teach ourselves "Western Civilization," and we might start with a week on the origin of western written language (Mesopotamia) or western government (Egypt), but then somehow it's quickly on to Greece and Rome. [ and then we teach ourselves that "Rome" doesn't include the last 700 years of the Roman empire, too :) shit, the Christian bible wasn't even codified in "the West," the way these people think ...... ]
@@HkFinn83if I've heard correctly all of Sepp's attacks originate as testing Remco/Soudal and if he has a chance or feels good he capitalizes on it. Today it didn't work out to win the stage but he's in the red jersey so I don't think he is too upset.
Ok. With GC Kuss it is remarkable. Remco has to chip down 2,5 minutes to a guy is so strong, that he blown up 2 TdF and a Giro in the past two years. There’s my fellow Hungarian Attila Valter, who is capable to pace climbs like an absolute animal and there’s Jonas and Primoz who’s attacks have to be handled if Kuss fades (and that is a big if). Jumbo is so strong and unselfish and has such clever tactics that is almost like to watch the 2014 San Antonio Spurs when they won the NBA Finals.
Interesting to see Vingegaard like this. Obviously not in TdF shape. But he is probably the best at restitution in the world so will be interesting to see week 2 and 3
Do you not think Vingegaard is just waiting for his day just like he does in the TdF? There he also often was sticking to Pogacar or losing a few seconds, until that 1 or 2 stages where he absolutely destroyed him. I think Vingegaard will pick a day and go crazy.
i mean if you look at the tours both years, he never won them in week 1. This year it was only as of the TT starting week 3 that he destroyed Pogi. Think he still needs a few stages to really get him going. The TT will also be interesting as it is a strong point of Remco but Jonas did look great in the Tour even on the flat
He being there & saving legs is enough. Kuss is freed from staying close all the time because Roglic and Vingegaard can support each other, which allows a lot of room for Jumbo to strategize.
This is what I'd be scared of if I was all the other riders. Even Primoz and Kus I feel like, lol. For now he's mostly relatively saving his legs. If there's even the slightest chance that the vuelta win will be in jeopordy, then on some big mountain in week 3 the Jumbo director will say "fucking go" and Jonas will light the fucking afterburners and put minutes into everyone.
I did not know that i cluld win the stage lol. I prefer being second and give bonus seconds to Roglic. I like to take all the wind for 6 km before a a sprint
Dude really climbed at 7 W/Kg for 3.5k in an ascent with 20+ % kicks and finished with a 300m sprint just 5ks after the climb and says "yeah... it was hard, uh"
If he knew that he was sprinting for victory, Remco would have won. It is obvious when you watch the finale. Plus, it's kinda annoying to rub it in constantly. I get that Jumbo fans are happy that their armada is so strong but come on, a little bit of respect for Evenepoel would be nice. I'm pretty sure he deserves it
Is Vingegaard at La Vuelta waiting his moment or just here to put psicological pressure on Remco? Who knows for sure. It's very difficult to be Remco right now.
It will be interesting after the TT. Remco is going to extend his lead on Rogla and Jonas and close the gap with Kuss. If I believe Jonas would not mind if Kuss wins the Vuelta, I am less convinced by Rogla. This could be the opportunity for Remco. Being solo against 3 TJV and 3 UAE for the GC, must also give him even more motivation, and if he wins, it would shut all his bashers.
Incredible by Jumbo. What a team. But Kuss being a winner is really not realistic in my opinion, when he have 2 other Grand Tours this year. I think they are going with roglic
I think they still have it open for all three possibilities. Kuss has a >2 minute lead. If Remco doesn't manage to make up more than a minute in the ITT, it is going to be hard for him to make up that time. Roglic and Vingegaard are
I find the Jumbo Visma team pretty likeable but I just can't support them. They're so strong, I find it a little depressing. I enjoy supporting the plucky individuals who go against them (Pogi, and now Remco and Ayuso). I like Remco more and more as this Vuelta goes on 😊
Lucky me. I began watching cycling when Pogi had to defend his first tdf gc win against Roglic with Jonas as super domestique. Then Primoz crashed out and Jonas had to step up. I guess I am rooting for them since that Ventoux Stage in 2021. Right now they still have my affection even though they are clearly past the point of beeing the „underdogs“. I really hope that wont change too fast because of some bullshit behavior of them on or off the bike. The way the management of FC Bayern Munich for example behaves sometimes kind of spoils my affection for their team. I guess often it is mostly a matter of timing that decides for which team we begin to root for. I hope you will get your delight with remco winning in the coming years but before that: Jumbo has to get the triple!
I have a similar feeling about their overpowering talent. I think cycling would benefit greatly from a team salary cap - to help spread out the racing talent over a greater number of teams.
Yeah the wolf pack is not Quick Step anymore. It is Jumbo Visma, and Remco will stay alone with Roglic, Jonas and Kuss make him dance like a poggy on Granon. It's going to be fun in the Pyrenees. If Remco wants to win the Tour the France anytime, he needs to win in Tourmallet in Vuelta. But I'm afraid he will be loosing time even before Superbarèges ski station
With three men charging, they could not crush Evenepoel. They were unable to overtake after Kuss was caught, the trick did not work. Roglic winning but that was not the relevant thing. More important: Vingegaard is not at his best. A lot of nice battles coming up; Remco will not give it away easily.
i think the plan was to make Evenepoel do the hard work , and that worked. I notice Ayuso riding verey smart and I agree Vingegaard did not look at his best.
@@henriksylvestolsen4885Working the entire day and Remco still taking more time on Jonas and Kuss than Roglic did on Remco looks like an win for Remco in my eyes.
Remco is doing an admirable job taking on the Jumbo team on his own. I know he's not in peak form but still has there been a less explosive TdF winner than Vingegaard? He can go hard for a long time but has no extra gear.
He is not as eksplosive as Pogacar and Remco, but probably more eksplosive than the rest of the peloton as we saw in the tour on Planche de belle Fille, Colombier and Puy de Dome - nobody was even close to follow when he went with Pogacar.
Focus! Give the guy a break, he was most worried about the 3 Jumbos! I suspect he thought the break was a larger, cohesive group, and didn't think the individuals they passed WERE the break. It's also possible his Directeur said so.
there were 30 in the break? if he didn't hear his DS/team saying there is nobody in front anymore, i think it is very hard to know if you are not counting.
Remco think he could have won that stage, i sense he could have as well. He just didn’t know they were sprinting for the stage. He looks in very good form.
his tactics were wrong. he should have forced them to attack but he thought he could outpace them to the line and then sprint... maybe too confident @@markxkovacic
So Mr critical, Patrick what do you think of Remco saying he just followed Primoz wheel and didn't know they were going for the win🤔. I'm not really buying that, he launched full on and seemed to basically give up when he knew he was being Rogla'd.
Remco didn't look or race like a rider thinking there was a stage / seconds for grabs at the line to me. I was screaming at the TV for him to get off the front and think about the sprint, but he didn't and the sprint he sat down once he was safe behind Roglic.
I think a good video would be highlighting why it would be foolish for TJV to work for Kuss instead of Rog or Vin since way too many casuals believe he stands any chance against Remco...
Remco not being aware that they did not catch up to the breakaway is wild. How can communication with the team car break down like that? How can the DS have less situational awareness than the average TV spectator?
Objectively they have a better powerhouse than Jumbo. Vingegaard was isolated in TDF where UAE came 2 and 3, Ayuso might just win TDF next year, Roglic will probably never hit this peak again.
People count out Vingegaard. He is a few seconds behind Remco with 2 weeks to go. And he hasn't gone for stages yet. Maybe not in top Form but not a slouch at this point
I don't think it matters to them who wins. It's not like Vingegaard is falling behind. Crossing the finish line you can see him raise his hand up celebrating for Roglic's win.
I don't think so. Soler is just a bit too erratic to be a GC threat. They will put some time into him in the TT and then let the Tourmalet and the Angrilu take care of Soler
Jonas is not bullying anyone at this time😢…he looks like 90% TDF fit and only survives on the stages. TT heavily favors Remco (flat non technical) so he will loose 30+ sec here. I am not sure if the plan was to hope for once or twice he finds his legs in the mountains 🏔️ at like 95% and it would be enough against these guys… I kinda doubt it.
If he was "only surviving" there would have been gaps when Remco pushed, like Ayuso and Kuss were yoyoing behind. Throughout the race, Vingegaard has been looking like the one who have had it most easy. They better hope he stays at 90 %.
