Jungle Fowl Fight | Gallus lafayettii | Birds of Sri Lanka | Yala National Park
Neither of the two male jungle fowls was going to back down. A test for dominance or fight for a female?! Both birds eventually went their separate ways. By all appearance unhurt.
This is the National bird in Sri Lanka and the moment was captured in Yala National Park.

@Raj B : You are correct my friend. Thats why we hardly see ill or injured animals in the wild. They just become pray for the others coz they can't keep up with surviving the food chain. Simply survival of the fitest. 😁

@Solo Gamer Havoc : Sometimes the fights can be to the death. In out language (Sinhalese) we call them "Wali Kukula" meaning "Fighting Rooster"

I’ve tried it with the jungle fowls in America. Flashy skills, but lack heart. Cold runner. You’re better off with a 1/4 oriental of your choice, but not the JF.

Yes. They become even more bright during the the mating seasons and that helps to attract females.

I live with red junglefowl... my guess is that these two males are brothers reaching early adulthood and they are mostly playing with a bit of dominance in the mix.

The Sri lankan junglefowl, also known as the Ceylon junglefowl. It's our national bird. I love them. Can see them near my 🏡.

@chichipalacio : Si. Vuelan para poder atacar al oponente con una púa en la pierna que apunta hacia atrás cuando el pájaro está de pie. Peleas como estas pueden terminar con lesiones fatales o, a veces, con la muerte.

They look & move like roosters, maybe a bit quicker, but they sound completely different.

@kufujitsu : Little bit small compared with a domestic rooster and they sound defferent as you can hear in the background. Behavior is also similar to domestic roosters.

@Ivan's Gamefarm : The only thing forcing these roosters to fight is the urge of becoming the dominent male. This incident is spotted and recorded in an area called Yala and this place in particular is situated deep in the jungles of Sr Lanka.

Wildlife Premium but pets has to understand that gamefowl is more aggressive towards rooster not matter what.My gamefowl chicks have to be superares every minute or so cause they fight.my hens also fight each other even tho I have them in cages they basically cage fight each other.

@Nathaniel Malayo : I never have not seen these bitds for sale anywhere in the world. In Sri Lanka its illegal to keep them at your house because this species is endemic to our country and have the national bird.

You can't. They're protected under Sri Lanka's wildlife laws. Even the locals are not allowed to keep them.

No one sells Jungle fowls. But there are different domestic fowls that are strong and colourful similar to jungle fowls.

Im afraid no. These birds are 100% wild animals. According to the government law trafficking these animals are illegal. Your not allowed have them as a pet nor can be domesticated.
