Wait until you hear "Wheel In the Sky" live from 1980 Osaka Japan concert!!! Steves' solo intro into the song is amazing which is why he is known as The Voice! The interaction he has with the crowd is something you don't see any more! Love that you appreciate Journey the way so many of us do that had the honor of growing up on their music! Love from Texas
Wheel in the Sky is an encore for this Houston concert. But they play it much faster then earlier versions and I don't like it as much. His intro at Osaka for this song is amazing.
The voice legend baby no body can sing like Mr perry anymore the best fantastic singer ever 💯 Soo sweet smooth sounds already definitely 💯💯💯🎤🎤🎤🎵🎵🎵❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I absolutely love when you react to Journey. You look so happy and enjoying the performance. Please do the entire songs in this concert. The joy on your face is awesome
Where Were You is one of my favorites from this concert, then of course Lights/Stay Awhile and Escape. Whatever you choose, you can't go wrong! Steve Perry has the Best voice and sings with so much passion. You can literally feel it when he sings.
Perry has amazing energy! And this one the final song of the concert!!! He’s absolutely incredible!!! Check out “Where Were You” from this concert. GREAT drum solo by Steve Smith!!!! Also, “Who’s Crying Now”… awesome guitar solo by Neal Schon!!!!
This was the encore during this tour, the studio recording was slightly slower and harmonizing was heard more. Please check out Patiently, 1st song written by Perry and Schon, also People and Places. You are correct in picking up on Steve Perry's showmanship skills, he was born for that spot
One of my favorites by Journey!! The song was featured in the musical “Rock Of Ages” with other rock classics. According to Steve Perry, the song was heavily influenced by Irish hard rock band Thin Lizzy particularly by bassist, Phil Lynott. In 1979, Journey used to tour with Thin Izzy.
@Stevenrayperry I truly love you and hope you are doing well. Iam lonely and feeling better for now. I hope this not a scammer but who knows.I don't think Steve Perry really would take the time to commit to me.🥰😘💜💋🦋
Your comments about running around on the stage remind me of the live "Life During Wartime" by the Talking Heads. You've probably seen that by now, but if you haven't ... the Talking Heads are a great band.
This up tempo version was done live at this concert for the fans, but in other versions it's still at a great rock tempo but the vocals were much more emotionally charged, beautiful vocals. They don't have a bad song. Steve is a phenom, and the band is always great, they've said that because Steve's vocal range was so powerful they were all able to be better at what they did. Amazing chemistry!
Well if you think that was crazy, of him running around. Then you MUST check out ...' Keep On Running, Dead Or Alive, Where Were You and Escape' from this Houston concert!!!
Unglaublich, Steve Perry verblüfft immer wieder aufs neue.
Anything from this concert video is great. Another great live video is Girl Can't Help it. Line up is a little different but Steve Perry still shines through.
@SalvoG Thank you!!! Journey at their best--LIVE! No exception for me is bands/groups/performers are best live! Twice having seen 'Journey' live, I so much love not only this memory, but your reaction--what a smile!!
Salvo G love your reactions to all of Journey, you've done so far. I'd love to see your reaction to Journey's "Still They Ride" Live from Tokyo 1983. Stunning, extraordinary vocals by Steve Perry!
That's how you end an encore! That note at the 7:00 mark was straight power. Kudos to you for this review. 1st time I have seen this clip being reviewed.
Ha!!! This concert was broadcast on MTV…(when it was MUSIC television) I recorded it on my VCR .. I also had a Stevie Nicks concert & Pat Benetar concert all on the same tape.all aired on MTV. Yeah,I’m that old,but lucky enough to have seen them on this tour
this was my first concert in high school. It was a few days in front or back of that show. On the floor with a girl on my shoulders for a while. Welcome to REAL music. REAL musicians with NO AUTOTUNE computer crap. MOTHER FATHER shows Steve's HIGH range at the end. Any Way You Want It. The guitarist played with Santana when he was 15-16.
The tempo from the this live version is a faster tempo than the studio version. Wheel in the sky is also faster and extended at this concert. Didn’t see them in Huston but they made their way to Hampton and it was awesome….opening with Loverboy and then Journey…what a night…
That was a great show. I saw that tour in Boston and it was pretty incredible. I highly recommend you check out the song Escape from this same tour. It's a real banger, and it really shows the talent of all the band members, especially the drummer. I think you'll really like it.
Always been something magical about Journey. Since most everyone knows their usual hits, might I suggest their amazing deep cuts : The Party's Over and Still They Ride.
Both of those are great choices! Party’s Over (Hopelessly in love) is super catchy and Still They Ride is baiting and introspective. Highly recommended!!!
I saw them on this tour in Denver. I was 8 years old, and my mom took me and my best friend. I remember asking her "What's that smell?" and she said "Oh, that's just 'cigarettes'" 🤣🤣
This was probably the best iteration of Journey, at least from most peoples point of view. I still love the Pre-Perry stuff myself, but that's because progressive rock is my favorite type of music.
You need to watch Whos Crying Now from the same live performance these guys are actually better live i was fortunate enough growing up in SF that i got to see them from when they first started the band unbelievable talen with all the band members
Still They Ride, live in Tokyo. Lights and Stay Awhile live in Osaka, Just the Same Way, or Wheel in the Sky live in Osaka, I really think you will enjoy these, but another thing is I have a hard time seeing the video it cuts them off, its like you are more into the screen or something then it is. make it smaller, pull you back some. I love your reactions to Journey.
Around this time I thought I was the only Journey fanin the UK. The live DVD captures the band at their best. Everyone can play. My bromance with Perry 40+ years later lives on and Neil Schon an absolute rock God on the guitar, always!
