In so many ways Elvis is an underrated male vocalist bc its so easy to get lost in his iconic imagery. Yet is he probably had the best voice of any American male.
I will have to disagree with you on that. I don't think Elvis has ever been labeled as an "under-rated" vocalist in any poll or expert opinion I've ever seen. In fact, you will generally always find him in the TOP TEN of best male vocalists of all time in almost all lists as well as critic opinions.
Airtouch67 I’m not talking about sales. I’m talking about Vocal range, vibrato and pitch. I think he is the greatest of all time. And I don’t think he was appreciated in his day as a prodigy..As a cultural icon yes.
@@barryyoung969 I understand. I didn't even mention the word "sales" so not even sure where that came from. You stated that you felt Elvis was "underrated" as a vocalist and I was simply commenting on that. Personally, I think when Elvis recorded his gospel albums is when people really started to take notice on just how incredible his vocal ability is... Especially when he received the Grammy Awards for it.
@@rookmaster7502 Really? That never even crossed my mind once nor have I ever heard that before. Interesting. 50's icon, movie star, King of Vegas, Health Issues, Rx drug dependency, but never impersonators, lol.
Oh so beautiful 🎶 love it ♥️ elvis was the best singer ever most handsome man ever ♥️ so. Beautiful 💓 🎶 this song is fantastic thanks dani 👍 ❤️elvis forever the 👑
Dani, Luv your Elvis reactions, it is good to see you enjoy "THE KINGS " one of a kind vocal ability, range and charisma as a performer and him being the ultimate showman, the reason Elvis is still "THE KING" 43 years after his all to soon death. Thank YOU, Keep the ELVIS reactions coming, bringing Elvis to new generations that were not even born when he was performing. Again THANK YOU...........
When I first heard this song sung by Elvis it just blew me away. A beautiful song sung with a killer voice. Is no wonder Elvis was so loved by the world.
My dear Elvis is still the greatest entertainer of all times and the king of music....and this song is one of the king's Classics its sooo popular all around the world even in Arab countries....its one of Elvis's greatest hits....

not only magnetic and powerful singer .. but he directs everyone on that stage .. he is always in charge and directs where the song goes .. he is also a conductor .. loving your reactions ..
As usual you just totally get Elvis and love your reaction to him. This video means a lot to me as it is where it all began for me. Saw this on television as a twelve year old and never been the same since lol
@@DaniAtkinson yes I think so too :) 'I just can't help believin' remains one of my very favourite Elvis songs.. I remember I was 12 years old and they showed this video on a popular UK chart show called 'Top of the Pops' which I religiously watched every Thursday. This song I think did well in the UK singles charts - certainly top 10 and so they played it on the show. I was instantly mesmerised by it.. had never heard a voice like that or seen such a charismatic performer. Anyway, just a bit of personal Elvis history and been a fan ever since!
Great song dani! There will be bumps on this journey. Dont get frustrated😝 were all here and support you. Elvis had such a great sense of humor he had water balloon fights with his guys on the movie sets😂
To answer your question yes he was holding the lyric sheet for the song, it was a running joke of sorts during rehearsals. This was a BJ Thomas song that Elvis wanted to cover for the engagement and he was worried he would mess up the words on stage, you can watch this play out in the original 1970 Theatrical release of “Elvis Thats The Way It Is”. Just before this performance Elvis jokingly tells the audience that BJ Thomas has out a new record and that he does not particularly like it, then whips out the lyric sheet as you see and performs it!
I appreciate your Elvis reactions because you take him seriously. That’s how we should listen. I know what it’s like to love an artist and that does make me pay attention very closely too. So I really appreciate your Elvis reactions because they are so sincere, deep and thoughtful. This song was new to me too. Thanks, Dani.
Thanks for the nice response, Dani. Absolutely. I definitely know what it’s like to be mesmerized by an artist. It’s happened to me many times. It’s great. I think it’s what we seek in our going to art. I’ve always liked Elvis and what you’re doing is definitely increasing my appreciation of him. Thank you for that :-)
Hi Dani. So glad you are ok after the storms that hit nearby you. Also sorry that the videos you posted were taken down by RU-vid. Hang in there girl. No need to apologize for the videos. Hi Melvin!! Thank you so much for the encouragement and the support!! I love posting these videos for you all, when they get taken down, it’s super disappointing! But I just keep pushing on! ❤️
Dani, I Love the way you Articulate your Reactions to Elvis! Thank you. Beautiful My Darling Elvis. 💕 You were/are the Best Ever Vocalist & Entertainer - Past, Present and Future! I Love & Miss You❣️ TCB⚡️with❤️TLC June 2021
Dani, this song was a big hit for B. J. Thomas, just before Elvis starts singing here, he says that it is a current hit for B. J. and he is just joking around that he has to read the lyrics before he starts singing. You might want to listen to some B. J. Thomas songs, he has a unique, incredible voice too and had serveral hit in the 60s and 70s.
That voice and the birds, what a combination! 🎶🎶🎶 Elvis would have loved it, i'm sure! A wonderful song and wonderful lyrics! A great song, first sung by B.J. Thomas and written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. But out whatever reasons he always struggles with the first part of the song! He once said: when i make the first 20 words then i got it! 😉 That's why he had a piece of paper with the lyrics! And only Elvis dared to do this! In my eyes it was so very charming! And besides, who can remember the lyrics of 700 songs or more? Your thoughts about his overwhelming charisma and looks are the same i have sometimes. We are so distracted by his beautiful presence, that we sometimes 'forget' what an unbelievable gifted singer he was! You are right, it seems like we take it for granted. And he always gave his best, even if he had a hard or a bad day. We only know him as the 'very best', without an exception! I guess that's why! Thanks Dani for uploading this beautiful song after the 'blocked Thursday'! I appreciate it very much! Sending hugs from Alamea! ☀️
🌻hi "little sister" 🤗 I remember a couple of songs where he used the written lyrics to help him in the beginning..the other song I remember. is "Burning Love" ..I think that is one of them ... 🌻
@@suzyq7748 🌺 Hy my big sister! 🙋🏼♀️ Yes, i guess you are right, it was Burning Love. Prince Charming with a piece of paper on the stage, reading the lyrics! Nobody else would have dared! Btw. are you now banned from entering the library? 😂
@@alameas6358 I told the security guard " Don't Be Cruel!!!" Ha! I am getting in....there is an underground tunnel similar to the one at Graceland and I'm "Going In"!!!! I am going in tomorrow before they even know anyone was there...I have beautiful artwork I must see...🤗and well ...if you don't hear from me for awhile just know 🎶"I got caught in a trap and I can't get out because they caught me in the library"🎶🎵🌻
Great reaction my friend! I respect you as an artist appreciating the true artistry of Elvis and his vocal abilities and talent. His vocal talent is so overlooked by so called self appointed critics. Keep up the great work Dani!
Elvis was holding his "play list" for tge evening. He was singing about Lisa Marie (his daughter) in this song, Elvis NEVER forgot his lyrics. He wasn't called the King for no reason. Love your reaction videos! As someone who grew up listening to mostly Elvis on my parent's record player, his voice was always amazing. Las Vegas/Hollywood (which he hated), made him gimmicky. He gave my mother's cousin, a pinky ring when they were serving in the Army together. It had TCB engraved on the inside, which meant Taking Care of Bussiness. Elvis was very huge hearted. Still love listening to his songs to this day.
Hi Dani yes your reaction. Is spot on when Elvis sang those type of songs the qaulity of his voice came through he was truely a talented in his own right. If you search his music catalogue you would realise how good his vocals really was. Keep it up Dani I enjoy your time😁
Utterly magnificent choice Dani, my all time favourite Elvis song and performance and let me explain why. To create a musical masterpiece within the studio environment, eg Suspicious Minds, is one thing when you have a top rate producer (Chips Moman) a single minded determined artist (Elvis) and the best possible material and tools (the song and band) where you can take as many takes as neccessary. To make a classic like this in one take in a live environment is something most singers can only aspire to. If there is one line to sum up this song (and Bridge Over Troubled Water from the same show) and Elvis Presley in August 1970 in particular it is this - Many can sing but only few can perform!! Released by B.J. Thomas earlier the same year this version shows Elvis at his very, very best as the vocal is relaxed yet powerful, both band and orchestra are virtually flawless. Elvis' singing of the word 'girl' at the end of the first verse is almost unbelievable!
Without a doubt my favourite song of Elvis, especially this version. His voice, the backing vocals, the band... all of it. The older Elvis I prefer, the tone of his voice is so much richer and more warm than his earlier years.
What’s always so amazing about watching Elvis is that no matter what he’s singing, it comes across so natural and effortless for him that it almost seems like he’s not even trying. It seems like its all just so easy for him.
Dani, that song is from the filmed concert and album, That’s The Way It Is in 1970. You should watch the 🎥 film, if you haven’t already, it has a great build up to the actual concert. 👍🏴
Yes it was a lyric sheet if you watch Elvis that's the way it is, back stage he said i just hope I don't forget the words he was talking about this song he couldn't remember the intro lol. What a voice! You have the best reactions out of anyone on here.
@@DaniAtkinson Also I sent a link on another video of Bridge over troubled waters which I know you already done a reaction but I promise the one I sent is a lost gem on the 1972 elvis on tour it gives me chills just writing about it. Please do a reaction to that video when you can 🙂
Hi dani....please don't be concerned about your followers ....we will support you and we know these things will happen. We are not going anywhere. His voice...his voice !! makes my heart melt.. what can I say...it just happens. He can't help it....and either can I ! Lol....."Sing the song baby"......I love the way he conducts everyone with his arm movements sometimes his whole body. I loved "Memories" too.So nice of your uncle Joey to let you share the sweet letter with us.Very special....it is always great to hear you sing ....I look forward to listening to you...thank you again for your in depth reactions!!! 🌻🎵
Hi Dani, yes that are the lyrics that Elvis jokes with and read off at the start. Elvis was not sure about it, although he rehearsed it for the summer engagement in Las Vegas that year (1970). In the Documentary "That's The Way It Is" (6 shows were filmed) and which that song is from, you can see how nervous Elvis is and how he sings to himself through the unsure words of the song before he go out to opening night at August 10th. This version, you reacted to, is from August 11th and IT IS FANTASTIC!!! The song originally was written and sung by B.J.Thomas and released in June that year.
I discovered you tonight on Rays Vibe Reaction, he showed one of your reactions. I came to your page and I love it and your reactions! It is 3:30 am and I cannot quit looking at your Elvis! I first saw Elvis on Ed Sullivan when I was 4 years old. Still remember it like it was yesterday. Very n8ce to meet you.
Dani hello ! Love you and of course Elvis I live in Scottsdale, Arizona and Del Mar California where I am at now ! Where do you live ? Sounds good that you are setting up a P. O. Box ! I have a pair of Elvis sun glasses ! And I have a Elvis room in my house !
I would be surprised if no-one recommended "The Lady Loves Me" by Elvis and Ann Margret ... it's an absolutely adorable duet from the movie Viva Las Vegas
Hey Dani, do you ever listen to the Elvis Channel on Satellite Radio? They play this song every now and then. Listen to “Only The Strong Survive” although l’m not sure a live performance exists on video. You can also get more of his speaking voice (which you like) in the beginning of the song.
I love getting the chance to hear him speak!! I don't have satellite radio anymore, but I used to listen to it! My family thinks its crazy that I don't recall ever hearing this song, but I don't!
Elvis liked to surround himself the best background singer's & the best musician's and it shows he never got the credit he so richly deserved it a shame the only grammy's he ever won was for his gospel's album's did not win one for his rock & roll music he set the Trent for all that came after him truly one of the greatest entertainers that ever lived & so so sad gone way to soon !!!
There will never be another. Elvis on record saying he doesn’t understand the why behind his gift. What he didn’t understand is that Elvis wasn’t given a gift, he WAS the gift. The gift was to us.
It was the lyrics he was studying as it was a fairly new song. I believe he struggles with it in the rehearsals of this concert and speaks of his worries over the lines. At 6:06, you can hear the rescue as Elvis confused the line. I think thats Charlie that helped get him back in line which is why Elvis laughs. If you like this one, you will like I've Lost You from the same live show.
Exactly. You can tell he knows he's in trouble with the upcoming line as he starts looking around for someone to bail him out and as only Elvis could do, he rolls right through it, flashes that smile and delivers the next line in the most perfect voice imaginable.
Song was originally done by BJ Thomas Elvis takes it to a different level That would make him the king of rock and roll just incredible Thank you for the video I remember an Elvis
This is the opening song from his soundtrack 'Elvis That's The Way It Is ' from 1970. It's a great song. You are right in everything you said about Elvis' voice and charisma and talent. He knew how to interact with his band as well as his fans. You are correct that no one could sing like Elvis. If you never saw the movie ' Elvis That's The Way It Is ', the original theatrical release, you are in for a treat. Every song is a powerhouse of his vocal artistry. Elvis clearly proves he is the best singer and entertainer.
when i told you about this song a little over a week ago i wasntsure if you would do it or not im so glad you did its a favorite of mine and im so glad you liked it ty so much for giving it a listen you are awesome for anyone who dont think this sweet young lady doesnt pay attention to your request she just did mine she is awesome
I cried when Elvis got married...I was 7 years old. He was supposed to wait for me to grow up...lol. Still crushing & almost 60 now. Love seeing young people appreciating him!
This for me is his best years around 1970. He had everything, handsome, no man will ever be as handsome, his voice was so good, no man's voice will ever be as good. Charm and charisma oodles of it. Sex appeal, no answer to that 😇. Who would ever have thought that 7 years later he would have gone. So so very 😥
Im glad to see someone who appreciates elvis voice as much as i do. Someone said because elvis never wrote his own songs or music he wasnt that great. Elvis's voice done its job and much much more
OMG what a beautiful voice and song, thank you for reacting to this song. If you think this is good, I really think you'll enjoy the song "SOMETHING" from the Aloha special
Thank u, Dani. U r young in this life. For u: to be interested in this and possibly expose the younger generation to a great voice and a nice soul: I appreciate this!! Thank u again, love
This is from a documentary movie of Elvis' prep for & performance of his Las Vegas show. Backstage, prior to going on, he was very worried about remembering the lyrics to this B.J. Thomas song, so he shows up on stage with the lyrics in his hand.
The papers he had in his hand is either a song list and or lyrics . For often if he sang a new song or was planning to he would make sure he had the proper lyrics . You'll never hear another great voice like that of Elvis ! I'm just sorry that you will never have that opportunity of knowing the Elvis we knew as children and adults but just the mere fact that your playing his music is enough for me young lady ! I'm glad to see it and keep his and other music of that era alive through play Rock On !!!
Dani, I love the way your initial reaction to his voice is always to put your hand on your heart. That's my usual response, too, I guess because his voice just touches people's hearts.
I wonder if you could do a reaction to Elvis singing "Such a Night", he did an amazing job on this, I don't think there is live footage of this, it was recorded in 1960 after his release from the army. 💝💝💝💝
You're awesome Dani, I was thinking maybe the 1st video tonight, " Elvis's funeral ( long black limousine). It will kick things off on a somber note but you can ramp it up afterwards! We owe him to do that song and the video is so damned good! Bring a tissue!
This was a new song by BJ Thomas at the time. On the DVD "The way it is" they did 2 days of rehearsals in a studio for all the extra songs they had to learn for the filming of the Vegas shows. In the rehearsals he kept getting stuck remembering the order of the 1st and 2nd verses (he was always generally nervous about forgetting lyrics onstage) so he brought out the lyrics with him, he has done this a few other times with new songs that he had not spent a lot of time with.
