Is the MT-82 transmission better in the 2024 Mustang GT and should you be ok with buying it if you can't justify the price of the Dark Horse? Drive with me and see! Follow Wheeld on IG!: wheeldmedia...
If ya drive a Mustang, the first thing someone will ask you is.. "Is it a manual or automatic?"..if ya say automatic, they always hang their head and say.."Oh..." LOL. Always, ALWAYS get the manual! 100 percent driving experience, and it dissuades thieves from stealing it 'cause thy can't drive one!
Thank you man for driving the car the way it’s meant to be driven, iv seen so many reviews on this car and very few will pull the car the way u did in the video. Such an amazing sound. Keep making videos about this car brother, im all here for it
Great video. I agree 100%. Manual is definitely the way to go, in my opinion, even with the previous-gen S550. Like you said, manual is more engaging, and not just that, it’s more fun. Super easy to drive, so driving in traffic is really easy. This is coming from someone who had a 10-speed S550 GT for only a year and sold it because I got so bored with the auto. I eventually got an S550 GT with the manual, and the driving experience is so much better. I’m actually enjoying the car so much more. Also, with manual transmission cars being a dying breed, it’s definitely time to enjoy them.
That scrolling edit over the intro was sick af lol I've never seen that before. I'm trying to get a manual supra rn. I like the stang but I wanted my next car (coming from an ss1le camaro) to be a bit easier to tune.
Thanks lol I haven’t gotten the chance to drive the Supra yet, but I really want to. It’s definitely a good looking car and those that have them seem to love them for the most part. The 2018-2023 mustangs have full tune support if you’re into them. The 2024s we’ll have to wait and see. Hope you get your next ride and love it! Thanks for subscribing!
I currently own a 2014 GT auto, and have been thinking of getting a 2024 GT manual. Whats been holding me back is that MT-82 transmission. Seems like you dont have many problems with it though.
I love that stang in the 6 speed! If I knew how to drive manual i would definitely buy it! However, I did order mine in automatic with the 401A, GT performance package, NitePony package, Yellow Splash Metallic paint, Active exhaust, Magnaride system. Basically fully speced out.. Super excited can’t wait to get mine in! Btw where are you located? How is that stang 73k?
This spec is EXACTLY one I’m considering except in a manual! Great choice😂 The auto is great transmission and it’s still fun to drive. So you definitely made a great choice. This car is in Tuscaloosa,AL 🐘 and it’s $57k. There’s a dark horse close that’s $72k that I was referencing in the video. Thanks for watching and congrats on the new stang!
Thanks man for this review! I've been thinking about getting back into another stang, had a 65 back in the day and then a 2018. Was wondering about that transmission as I have heard a lot of negative feedback but sounds like it may be worthy. Personally I would ditch that spoiler, I just can't stand the way it makes the car look. Appreciate your review!
Appreciate you watching! Yea this MT82 definitely feels better than the previous generations and I’m definitely considering it for myself. Hope you get back it one soon!
Enjoyed your review bro. Nice video. I have a Dark Horse in auto as it was available and somewhat of an impromtu purchase. I've never had an auto Mustang and I've had quite a few. It's not bad. Had I had the opportunity to compare maybe I would have bought the manual. But I'm at an age now where I can get plenty of spirited driving with the auto while still cruising and keeping my driver's license. LoL
Thanks for watching man! Congrats on the Dark Horse too! I really do like the 10 speed a lot, but I just can’t stay away from the manual I feel lol That said, I’m sure your car is great and there’s no way you could go wrong with either transmission. I hope to drive a Dark Horse soon either manual or auto. Thanks again!
Agreed about manual even though my wife says “what about the gas mileage?” IUKUK. I want to drive the car and I have had a 2017 Camaro and 19 Challenger. This, by far, is my favorite.
Getting one in Ember Blue for sure. I’ve made it a point to avoid buying new cars in the past, but I think enough time has passed to where I’m fine spending 70K+. That said, there’s a lot of potentially better options for that range of price, so unless you’re not planning on owning it long term or just have money to piss away , maybe go for something else.
There’s definitely a ton of cars in that price range. I think because of how scarce sports cars are becoming, people are gonna buy whatever they want the most, even if it isn’t quite justifiable lol I love the Dark Horse and will definitely consider one when it’s time for me to buy. Hope you enjoy yours and thanks for watching!
That’s completely understandable and a pretty good rule of thumb. You would hope that with this model being heavily based off the previous generation that it wouldn’t have so many issues. However ive worked in the automotive industry for quite a long time now so I know that can be wishful thinking lol
Cmonnnnn man😂😂😂😂 we make do with our MT82’s🤧 but having driven a T56 tremec car, it’s a night and day difference. Currently building a 5.0 03’ cobra with a T56
I just gotta speak my truth 😂😂😂hey I STILL loved my 17 and I’m definitely looking to pick up a S650 in the future, so it’s not THAT bad lol. Nice on the 03! The Termi is my number 2 dream car lol Preciate you watching!
@@wheeldmedia always🤙🏼, love the video and the presentation. T56 will always be king when it comes to 6 speed manuals imo, but the MT-82 in the 15+ is miles better than the ones for 11-14. Ford did something that beefed them up. Also a short throw shifter upgrade makes them a lot more efficient
I have a 2016 ecoboost manual, and its one of the funniest cars I ever drove, and I drove about 90% of cars you see on the streets, cause I've been working as a valet driver, I'm used to high end cars, but when its manual its just another game, completly.
How do you feel about this trade? When it’s time for me to buy, these are the two mustangs I’m in between (Mach 1 and S650). As a tech lover, the S650 has my heart, but the Mach 1 could a GREAT performance deal on the used market!
@@wheeldmedia The Mach 1 feels more analog than the S650, but both are equally fun to me. Besides the smoother shifting Tremec, the only thing I miss about my Mach 1 is the magneride, which was not optioned on my car. Mach 1 w/o HP is a good deal, otherwise you're looking at over $50k all day
Autos have there place. I actually like the 10 speed and would buy it. I just enjoy the engagement of manuals. But if drag racing is someone’s thing, the 10 speed is 100% the way to go. Thanks for watching!
Sure! I definitely think that goes without saying. Especially when you’re spending this much of your hard earned money lol I’m just here for those who are seeking the opinion of someone who’s driven both. The 10 speed gets high praises in my review! Thanks for watching!
@@wheeldmedia I had a 10 speed S550 for only a year because I got bored of the auto. After switching to a manual S550 GT it made me enjoy the car again. More engaging and more fun in my opinion and with the manuals being a dying breed it’s definitely the time to enjoy them while we can.
Keep the manual alive the four bangers are gone. Much rather have a six gear ratio than ten with three OD. The manual is only two OD gears;) Chevrolet turbo 400 was a beast.
The MT-82 is just embarassing, i'd rather drive automatic. You should not gain over half a second in the 1/4 just by swapping to an auto. If it came with a Tremec or a swapped T-56 i'd run it all day but no MT-82
While agree that MT-82 isn’t the best trans ever, gaining a half second by swapping to an auto sounds believable to me. Going fast on a strip is definitely done with an auto. Human error in a manual can easily result in half a second slower time
@@wheeldmedia it's not human error, it's just the transmission being fragile and locking you out of shifting quickly, it's why the mt-82 loses to Camaros and scat packs and the 10 speed auto walks away like cheat codes
I have a 18 540i b58 stage 2 and it for sure runs 11.5 and let me tell you - ITS BORING 😑- I’ve had all mustangs from a 67-14 - s197 manual power was good just the suspension was garbage 🗑️ even with all suspension mods - manual is fun and you have more control and more feel -
@@wheeldmedia lmao no I was legitimately asking where did you learn to drive manual. Sorry if I came off as rude. I just wish I knew how to drive manual transmission that’s all 💀
@@JudeDude409 all good bro, sorry for the misunderstanding. most people learn simply from watching others do it, and practicing it if they are fortunate enough to have access to a manual transmission vehicle. i hope you have the opportunity to learn; it's a neat skill to pick up.
It isn’t about gas mileage. It is about being in stop and go traffic every day at the exact same time and stretch of highway. Shifting in that mess is a pain and a sure way to minimize clutch life expectancy. Shift away if you please, but for everyday use, give me the technology. BTW I am retired, and my next mustang will be manual……a fun toy.@@christianplummer4199
Well, plenty of people lol there’s definitely a huge market for auto mustangs. They outsell the manual by a country mile and hold better resale and trade values. For people who actually wanna race it, it’s probably the better option in most scenarios if you wanna be fast lol but for fun, I’d personally take the manual
I understand completely. If ultimate performance is the goal, I wouldn’t say the MT82 is the way to go. That said, it’s still really fun to drive and for most people, it’s enough. If you wanna go fast in a straight line, 10 speed fahso
