I did think Bryce Young was gonna start a bit better just because I was so high on him like many people, but he hasn't been horrible. He's a rookie making rookie mistakes without a ton of help around him. He'll be just fine.

As a panthers fan this is pretty spot on. Reich has been inconsistent as a caller. Sometimes decent. But pretty mid. The receivers can’t separate to save their lives. Both of our starting guards are out to injury. And Bryce has been trying to drag this team to success. Honestly I’m at the point where I’m starting to worry if Scott fitterer is the right GM to surround Bryce with a better supporting cast. Because these guys suck. And I would hate to waste his rookie contract missing on wide receiver picks.
@EthanJ1005

Honestly I think Reich is a problem. I'm a Colts fan, so I'm biased, but with Reich as the Colts HC, they team fell apart, O-Line was bad, so many 'close' games. Im not expecting him to throw like Rogers with 40-50 yard bombs but it was killing me watching the Saints game. It was the 4th quarter, we had the ball and wouldve taken the lead late if we scored but Bryce juat kept throwing to his safety valve at the LOS or 1-2 yards in front of it and took us nowhere. He did it nearly the whole game. Even when he had time cause know our O-line is in shambles rn. He has mediocre arm strength, and will always struggle to fit balls into the quick, tight windows of the NFL. He is not a natural runner, in fact, he doesn't have the speed to outrun the huge linemen who will be trying to decapitate him. His flaws were hidden by the OL at Alabama, and because he was playing against sub-NFL talent. He was not worth the first pick, and he was not worth what we gave up to get him. @@MagikFingers420short height is a huge limitation. People name drop Drew Brees or Russell Wilson when people bring up height, but let’s not pretend that they weren’t total aberrations instead of the general rule. Short quarterbacks have to really invest hard into other skills to overcome it. Being a short quarterback means you can’t see the field the same way average QB height players can. You have to maneuver around the pocket a specific way to get that vision for a brief moment. It means your ball had a higher risk of being batted down. It’s a massive limitation that certain quarterbacks have had to learn to overcome. Not to mention, Bryce Young’s height isn’t even the totally most concerning thing. It’s his overall size. He’s a small guy. I like Bryce Young, but it’s hard to imagine he holds up to an NFL beating. At least Russ was thick, hence why he was so durable for a decade. gonna see a lot of quick outs and curls to Thielen but I doubt he'll move any sort of needle. Dalton plays well in structure just like Bryce but as we've seen there is not much of a structure to play in. In those situations we've seen where Bryce makes something out of nothing Dalton with probably just be sacked. Only thing is Dalton won't have those rookie moments where he's up against a coverage he's never seen before and fails to recognize something like safeties rotating deep. He has that experience to play a competent game as he's been in the league for over a decade but I doubt he puts up some sort of game changing performance.

Why? The coaches can't throw the ball for him. They can't make him stay in the pocket or make his decisions for him. Bryce Young is a bust and that much is clear. In fact if he wins a game this year I would be astonished. Unlimited clips in this video of the coaches calling successful plays scheming the WRs open and because of Bryce's football IQ, he has no idea even what to do. He's not even confident in his own throwing abilities. I'll leave off with saying first impressions are everything. And if Bryce doesn't start clicking with his mechanics and IQ very very quickly, every defense is going to be coming after him like sharks in the water smelling blood. Because they know they're about to get some free stats that day.

@@SUPERMA5TERts crazy how yall don't understand how development works. Rookie QBs aren't going to be good their rookie year. The exceptions are just that, exceptions. He still has to get used to NFL pace of the game and disguised coverages like any rookie qb. Look at Lawrence. Bad rookie year, but picked it up after getting some experience. Also what pocket? Panthers were already expected to have a poor o-line and now both starting guards are injured so there's plenty of times the pocket is already collapsing by the time Young finishes his drop back. Put on top of that almost no run game, one of the slowest WR cores that struggles to create separation(especially bad when the o-line isn't creating clean pockets for long) and its no wonder he's picking up some bad habits. Give him time to develop and let the org put some semblance of actual weapons around him before declaring him a bust 2 games in. Remember Peyton Manning went 3-13 his rookie year. Alex Smith threw 11 ints to 1 TD. Aikmen went 0-11. Bradshaw went 3-5 throwing 6 tds and 24 ints. Give him time and also a team

Bryce is throwing to receivers open by 25+ yards every damn play, the kid was playing easy football and nothing on his tape suggested he could work in the NFL to me. I’m a die hard Bama fan. But I could’ve told you that Bryce had his issues. The only reason he did as good as he did at Bama was because he was able to pull rabbits out of his ass a lot of times. But he struggled to find people wide open for first downs and touchdowns. He made his reads but he only read the read one way. He started and went through but could never reverse it and read back through. So he would take off and tip toe like he was afraid of getting hit. So he’d run until someone got close and then he’d run out of bounds or basketball pass it to a back. I think his sport is Basketball but he’s athletic enough to be a running QB With decent passing.

I think it’s just an overall lack in trust in his offensive line and his receivers to get open that has him a bit shook. His biggest plus coming out was his ability to process things and read the field, and in 2 games he’s weirdly been off in that area. Not saying he has no blame in it but it’s a lot different than playing at Alabama where every position is loaded. Sidenote, I don’t think Frank Reich is as good a HC and some people think.

His processing is great and he reads the field well with just a few misses or moments of hesitation across his first 2 starts. It looks a worse than it is because his receivers are legit not good and NFL defenses are showing coverages he's never seen before. There's nothing he's done that should have you worried in any significant way. The only issue would be if he's forced to develop bad tendencies because of his lack of a surrounding cast. And also he had to deal with shit like this a bit in his last year at Bama too because his OL and receivers were not very good. His leading receiver his last year at Bama was his running back.

@wardog211
@wardog211 Год назад
No QB in the NFL successfully gets QB sneaks on the 'and 1' plays 100% of the time besides Jalen Hurts. There's plenty of other ways a team should be able to move the ball than do a QB sneak. Yea he's not 6'4 250 but there's only a handful of those guys in the league anyway. Other than that nitpick, his height disparity has not impeded his ability at all. The worry is the slender frame bc he's like 200 pounds so there may be injury concerns, but we have already seen he's more than capable of taking a hit. And we've already seen the big QB from his draft class also get injured so you can't really point to that as a huge issue. If he had a competent OL and run game those issues wouldn't exist for Bryce. His playmaking and creativity and great sense of timing and anticipation allow him to reduce the amount of times he gets hit as well. He's just suffering from receiver's that cannot get open and poor play calling and OL play. Besides that he's just adjusting to the advanced level of the NFL game as does every other rookie QB in their first 2 starts.
